Assembly
Your snap hooks already comes with plastic parts mounted on them. The
plastic parts prevents metal against metal in your set-up. Before hanging
the motor, you need to attach the snap hooks to the motor.
The snap hooks must be put on from the side, laying flat against the motor
- otherwise, they can not be rotated properly into place.
The narrow end of the snap hooks should point towards the motor, see
picture 4.
It is important that you lock your snap hooks once they are fitted correctly.
This is done by gently securing the safety lock.

Mounting
The nylon string is to be fastened as
close to the center of the hammock
as possible while still leaving distance
between the motor wire and the ham-
mock spring. Make sure to prevent the
wire from touching and wearing out
the fabric covering the spring.

Please note
First deal with your hanging equipment – ceiling hook, door frame clamp,
or tripod stand.
If you hang your hammock from a ceiling hook and the motor from a
strap/chain, you must carefully read the section on WEIGHT.
Put the motor’s parts together in accordance with the instructions on page
5.
Now use the upper snap hook for hanging the motor. Feed the power
cable into the small hole at the top of the motor. The power cord is 10
feet / 3 meters long, so you need to place the hammock near a power
outlet.
Make sure the power cord does not trail down the motor or the hammock
but rather is kept away from them.
Now hang the spring and then the hammock in the snap hook under the
motor. Check that the snap hooks are working and close properly.
Once the hammock is hung, the nylon string coming out of the bottom of
the motor is to be wound around the fabric at the top of the hammock. Do
this by pulling the string down, winding it around the fabric, and fastening
the S-hook around the string so that it is fixed in place.
It is important that the string is securely fastened before you let go of it.
See the illustration on the right.
Once the hammock motor and the nylon string are in place, you may turn
the power on. Read the sections on HEIGHT and WEIGHT before using
the motor.

If the motor is suspended from the
ceiling, it is important to use a stain-
less steel hook without coating. Similar
precautions must be applied if you use
a metal chain.

Moonboon hammock motor
Use of the Moonboon motor,
hammock, and door frame clamp
requires a minimum of 86 inches /
220 cm between the door frame
and the floor to accommodate the
hammock and the motor.
Please note
Height
It is essential that the hammock with motor does not touch the floor during
operation. Before using the hammock, perform two tests to ensure that
the hammock does not touch the floor.
First test: Empty hammock
Mount the hammock as instructed and manually stretch the spring as
much as you can. Pull on the spring until you feel the safety strap (the
nylon strap inside the spring) preventing any further expansion. When the
spring is fully extended, space must remain between the bottom of the
hammock and the floor.
Now place the child in the hammock and repeat the test described
above: Stretch out the spring until you feel the safety strap keeping it from
stretching further.
Here, too, space must remain between the bottom of the hammock and
the floor.
Second test: Child in the hammock
Follow these instructions and perform
the tests regularly as your child
grows and becomes heavier. That
is how you ensure that the hammock
never touches the floor.

Baby weighing less than 17.6 lbs / 8 kg
If the child weighs less than 17.6 lbs / 8 kg, the strap/chain between the
motor and the ceiling must not be longer than 6 inches / 15 cm.
Baby weighing more than 17.6 lbs / 8 kg
If baby weighs more than 17.6 lbs / 8 kg, there must be no more than 20
inches / 50 cm of strap/chain between the motor and the ceiling.
Weight
The motor works by keeping the hammock spring in constant motion.
Therefore, the weight of your child is a key factor in the functioning of the
motor.
The Moonboon hammock and motor may be used for babies weighing
between 9 lbs / 4 kg and 33 lbs / 15 kg. If you are using a hammock
from a different supplier, you may not be able to use the motor until baby
weighs 13 lbs / 6 kg. This is due to the differences among hammocks in
terms of the stiffness of the spring.
if you hang the motor in a strap or chain from a ceiling hook, your baby’s
weight will determine how long the strap/chain can be. If the following
recommendations are not followed, there is a risk that the motor will not
function properly and then will turn itself off.
Insufficient weight in the hammock
will cause the motor to malfunction
or turn off.

Timer
The upper button ‘TIMER’ is used to set the duration of the operation of
the motor.
The 3 dots each represent 1 hour. The motor may be set to operate be-
tween 5 minutes and 3 hours.
Tempo
The lower button ‘TEMPO’ is used to set the speed of operation.
Turn the arrow to the left for the lowest speed and to the right for the
highest speed.
Starting the motor
- First turn the ‘TIMER’ button and set the desired time.
- Then turn the ‘TEMPO’ button and set the desired speed.
If the light is green and both buttons have been set, just put your hand on
the cross pin and activate the hammock by pressing down once or twice.
The motor will kick in and begin operating the hammock. The tempo set-
ting may be adjusted at any time to the preference of your baby.
Once the set time has been reached, the motor will slowly decrease its
speed and stop.
Please note that the motor will not work without weight in the hammock.
Using the Motor
Once you have mounted the hammock motor and connected the power,
you may begin using it.
You may turn off the motor at any time by turning the buttons back to their
leftmost position.
Review the safety checklist and
ensure that all instructions have been
followed before starting the motor
for the first time.
The hammock motor may be
stopped at any time by touching the
hammock or the spring. Doing so will
make the motor light come on red,
and the motor must be restarted be-
fore it can resume operating.

No light
Check that the power cord is firmly inserted into the top of the motor and
that the power is on. Turn off the power and wait 30 seconds before
turning it on again.
If the light still does not come on, the hammock motor may need servic-
ing. Please contact our customer service team.
The light alternates between red and green
This is an indication that the wrong kind of power is being supplied. See
the details in the safety checklist.
The light is red
There has been a malfunction in the motor. The hammock motor may be
restarted by turning off both buttons and turning them on again.
If the light is red repeatedly, some reasons could include:
- that there is insufficient weight in the hammock. Read the section on
WEIGHT.
- that the strap/chain above the motor is too long (ceiling mounted mo-
tor). Read the section on WEIGHT.
- that the motor starts at too low a speed. You could start the motor at a
higher speed and then reduce the speed as desired.
- that the motor wire is not fastened correctly to the hammock.
- that baby is fussy and moves around too much in the hammock. The
motor will register such movement as an irregular tug at the wire, which is
a safety risk, and it will turn off.

than 17.6 lbs / 8 kg, you may use a strap/chain above
the motor that is 20 inches / 50 cm long.
- If you are using the Moonboon spring, the child using
the hammock must weigh at least 9 lbs / 4 kg and at
most 33 lbs / 15 kg. If you are using a spring from a
different provider, baby may need to weigh at least 13
lbs / 6 kg.
- Be sure that the hammock never touches the floor when
in operation. Read the section on HEIGHT.

the motor, please do not use the hammock motor until
remedial action has been taken.
- The hammock motor may only be used indoors at tem-
peratures between 32 and 113 degrees F / 0 and 45
degrees C and at a humidity of 0-80%.
- The hammock motor is not approved for use in wet or
humid areas, in bathrooms, or near water.
- The hammock motor is not approved for use in countries
without an AC power network operating at 100-240
Vrms AC.
- The hammock motor is not approved for use if it is con-
nected to a direct current power source without safety
standard certification.

Can the motor be used with any brand of hammock?
The hammock motor from Moonboon is compatible with most hammocks
on the market, but it is developed especially to be used with the Moon-
boon hammock and spring.
Note that baby may need to weigh more than 9 lbs / 4 kg for the motor
to work properly if you are using a hammock of a different brand. Refer
to the section on WEIGHT.
What kind of hook is to be used to hang the motor from the ceiling?
Each type of ceiling will require a specific kind of hook. We recommend
you check with your local building center or home improvement store and
ask for guidance in terms of hanging the hammock securely. Make sure
the hook is made of stainless steel. If your ceiling is plaster, it is generally
recommended that you hang any weight from a structural beam or rafter
foot.
Why can’t the motor move faster?
Several experts have participated in the design of the Moonboon prod-
ucts – engineers as well as professionals from the health authorities. Our
primary concern has always been safety, and the maximum speed of the
motor was set according to the recommendations of the experts.
Is the motor able to operate for longer than 3 hours?
We designed the motor timer to run from 5 minutes to 3 hours. This pro-
vides time for the motor to run until baby settles down; it will then gradu-
ally slow down until it is paused.
Should you wish to use the motor for longer than 3 hours, we recommend
that you ensure baby is comfortable and snug before you start it. It is not
possible to set the motor to run for longer than 3 continuous hours.
Why are plastic parts included with my baby hammock?
In August 2021, the Danish Safety Authority reported that there have
been cases of children getting metal splinters in their eyes due to unsuit-
able metal hooks used to hang sensory swings, bird’s nest swings, and
baby hammocks.
Moonboon does not sell metal hooks but, in the light of this new an-
nouncement, Moonboon has developed plastic parts for all Moonboon
hammocks to completely avoid metal on metal.
