Folding and unfolding the wheelchair
To fold, simply life up under the centre edge of the seat upholstery. To unfold, tilt the chair
slightly to one side to raise the wheels on the opposite side off of the floor. Then press
down on one or both of the side seat rails. Before folding, ensure that the footrests are
either locked into position and the plastic footrests flipped up or remove them completely.
Applying the wheel locks
Push forward on the lock tips until the locks snap into the locked position. Do not attempt
to enter or exit the wheelchair without having the locks securely engaged.
Folding the footplates up into a vertical position
If the footplates are equipped with heel loops, these must first be pulled forward over the
rear of the foot plates. The footplates themselves can then be folded up into a vertical
position. Releasing and swinging away the front rigging:- whether the wheelchair is
equipped with standard footrests or elevating leg rests, this procedure permits the user to
make much closer approaches for easier, safer transfers to beds, toilets, cars etc. Simply
activate the release mechanism and swing the front rigging round to the side of the
wheelchair. While in this swing away position, the front rigging can also be removed from
the chair entirely by simply lifting it off. This removal will make lifting the chair or loading
into a car much easier for the attendant.

Footrest length adjustment
The position of the footplate on either standard footrests or elevating leg rests is adjustable
to fit the user’s leg length. The footplate should be adjusted to support the weight of the
user’s foot and lower leg in such a position that permits weight bearing by the thighs. A
footrest adjustment that is too long will result in a line of pressure under the thigh, at the
front edge of the seat. An adjustment that is too short will raise the user’s knees and cause
excessive weight to be borne by the buttocks. Either situation increases the risk of
pressure sores. The knees and hips of the user should be at approximately the same level.
The lowest edge of the footplate must be at least two inches above the floor to provide safe
clearance when negotiating ramps or inclines. This adjustment is made by loosening the
adjustment bolt with a wrench and telescoping the footplate in or out to achieve the desired
position, then re-tightening the bolt securely.
Using the stepper tube and kerbs
Use the stepper tube to raise the front castors (when mounting a kerb for example). To use,
push down on the stepper tube with a foot. Do not raise the front castors by pushing down
on the push handles as this could result in damage to the wheelchair.
To mount a kerb – approach the kerb head on. Then the attendant uses the stepper tube
to raise the front castors and lowers the front castors onto the raised kerb. Finally, the
attendant should push the wheelchair forward, lifting it up slightly to mount the kerb if
required.
To go down a kerb – line up the front castors with the edge of the kerb. The attendant used
the stepper tube to raise the front castors and tip the occupant slightly back. Keeping the
castors raise, slowly lower the wheelchair down the kerb.
Using the wheelchair in a vehicle
Under no circumstances should the wheelchair be used as a seat in a motor vehicle. The
wheelchair occupant should transfer to a normal vehicle seat and the wheelchair should be
safely stored away. The wheelchair has not been designed to be used as a seat in a motor
vehicle and failure to follow the above instructions could result in injury.
IMPORTANT POINTS TO REMEMBER
The user or caregiver should perform basic safety checks on the wheelchair at frequent
intervals.
1. Check hand grips and the rubber tips on the tipping levers to ensure that
they are tight and secure.
2. Check the locks for proper adjustment to confirm that they lock the wheels
securely when engage.
3. Look over all the nuts, bolts and attaching hardware for proper tightness.
4. Check for proper footrest length adjustment.
5. If any unsafe conditions are found please discontinue use of the wheelchair
and call our office for assistance.

Remember to engage the wheelchair lock before transferring to or from the
chair.
Do not lean forward in the wheelchair unless both feet are flat on the floor. This
is particularly important for users with heavy leg casts using elevating leg rests.
Warranty details
There is a comprehensive twelve month warranty from the date on which your new
wheelchair is delivered. The warranty covers the wheelchair for repairs or replacement
during this period.
1. To apply the warranty should your wheelchair require attention, please contact us.
2. Should any part of the wheelchair require repair or full or part replacement as a
result of a manufacturing or material defect within the warranty period, parts will be
supplied free of charge.
3. Any repaired or replaced parts will be covered by the balance of the warranty period
on the wheelchair.
4. General wear and tear on items such as upholstery and tyres will not generally be
covered unless this is due to a manufacturing or material defect.
5. The warranty only applies to new wheelchairs – second hand wheelchairs supplied
directly by Angel Mobility carry a six month warranty period. If you unsure if your
wheelchair is covered, please contact your dealer.
Under normal circumstances, no responsibility will be accepted where the wheelchair has
been required assistance as a direct result of:-
a. the wheelchair parts not having been maintained in accordance with the manufacturers
recommendations.
b. Failure to use the manufacturers specified parts.
c. The wheelchair or part having been damaged due to neglect, accident or improper use.
d. The wheelchair or part having been altered from the manufacturer’s specification or
repairs having been attempted before the dealer is notified.
6. This warranty is not transferable.
Safety Tips
• The engineering and construction of this wheelchair have been designed to provide
maximum safety.
• International safety standards currently in force have either been fulfilled or exceeded.
Nevertheless users may put themselves at risk by improperly using their wheelchairs.
• The wheelchair is designed to be used by a single person only.
• For your own safety the following guidelines must be observed.
• Unprofessional or incorrect adaptation or adjustment work could increase
the risk of accidents.
• Be careful during your first ride in this wheelchair.
• Get to know your wheelchair.
• Practice using your wheelchair on level ground as well as going up and
down hill.
• DO NOT attempt to reach objects if you have to pick them up from the
floor by reaching down between your knees.
• DO NOT attempt to reach objects if you have to move forward in the seat.
• DO NOT operate on roads or highways.
• DO NOT operate on an incline if covered in ice or a film of water or oil.
• DO NOT use the footplate as a platform when getting in or out of the
wheelchair.
• DO NOT stand on the frame of the wheelchair.
