LIMITS OF THE DETECTION SYSTEMS
An alarm or fire detection system can be very useful for the timely warning of every dangerous events like
fire, robbery or a simple infringement; sometime it can automatically manages the events (diffusion of
messages for the evacuation, automatic extinguishing of fire, to interface with TVCC systems, block of the
doors or ways leading up, automatic alert to the authorities, etc.). In any case it can not assure a protection
against damages of the property or caused during a fire or theft.
Each system can not correctly functioning if it is not installed and maintained in accordance with the
instructions of the producer.
PRECAUTIONS
The system and all the components have to installed in environment with the following features:
oTemperature: -5 °C - +40 °C.
oHumidity: 10% - 93% (without condensate).
This system, like all the solid components, can be spoiled from induced electrostatic voltage: handle the
boards keeping them on the rim and avoid to touch the electrical components.
An exact earth connection ensure, in any case, a reduction of the sensitivity to the noises.
If You are not able to solve some problems regarding the installation, please contact the NOTIFIER
Technical Service.
A fire alarm system will not operate without any electrical power. If AC power fails, the system will operate
from standby batteries only for a specified time.
During the planning stage it is necessary to value the requested autonomy to measure the power supply and
batteries.
The batteries have to be verified with periodicity from specialized staff.
Before the removal or the insertion of each board it is necessary to disconnect AC power and batteries.
Remove all electronic assemblies prior to any service operations.
The control panel and all the connected devices (detectors, modules, etc) can be damaged if, with
connected AC power, a board is inserted/removed or the cables are connected.
Peripheral devices (detectors, etc.) that are not perfectly compatible with the control panel can cause
damages both to the control panel and to the functioning of the system; maybe in a not so opportune
moment.
It is essential to use only material that NOTIFIER assure to be compatible with the control panel.
In case of doubt please contact the NOTIFIER Technical Service . The primary cause of the malfunctioning
is an insufficient/inadequate maintenance.
It is important to take care of these aspects from the planning of the installation, this will facilitate and reduce
the future costs for the interventions.
RE-MIND: Do not try to install the control panel and the devices before the
reading of this manual.

LINE: physical line linea on which the detectors, the addressed sounders, any addressed input and output
modules are connected.
POINTS: are the detectors and the addressable modules that can be connected to the control panel.
ZONES: are grouping of points. They give the possibility to identify the position of an event. It is possible to
have a maximim of 50 zones. In each zone it is possible to have no more than 32 points.

EVACUATION : It is the command to activate the sounder output and all the output modules
programmed, in absence of alarms and trouble, with TYPE ID = HORN.
A second pressure on this key will de-activate all the output previously activated.
To do this procedure it is necessary to know the password of level 2.
END DELAY : This button is enabled only in case of alarm if the immediate sounder
activation was disabled. The panel delay the sounder activation of the timinigs programmed.
During the delay time the LED “Active Delay “ is blinking and is possibile to force the reset of
this delay time .
MUTE BUZZER: the pressure of this key silence the buzzer of the contol panel and enable
the user for the RESET operation.
SILENCE/RESOUND : when the sounder output is activated (in case of alarm), the first
pressure of this key will de-activate the sounder output.
A second pressure, with the same condition, will reactivate the sounders.
To do this procedure it is necessary to know the password of level 2.

RESET : the pressure of this key delete the memory of the alarms and points troubles
present at the moment.
De-activate the sounders and turn off the lighted signals fo the detectors in alarm.
To do this procedure it is necessary to know the password of level 2.
Keys to be used: DURING THE PROGRAMMING OR
TO INTRODUCE THE PASSWORD. .
ARROWS : To be used to select something or to introduce some characters.
%Note: pressing one of hte keys more than 1 second the text is automatically repeated.
ENTER: after a selection it confirms the inserted data.
ESCAPE : to “go back”, it deletes the last introduced data or has the function to exit the
menù
FUNCTIONS KEYS: This kind of keys active the function that correspond with them on the
display. They change the selected menù to functions.
Example: in the screen “Installation status” these keys allow to enter the menù regarding the
programming, utility, Exclusion or Test.

Bright signals of the Frontal
ALARM (Red) :
It is flashing kf at least a device is in alarm, and it has not been identified.
It is fixed lighted Acceso if all the alarm status have been identifed.
REMOTE ALARM (Red) :
It remains lighted if the output to the transmission devices for the fire alarm has been activated.
DELAY IN PROGRESS (Yellow) :
It remains lighted if the exclusion regarding the immediate outputs activation, has been operated,
used for type C outputs (sounder output) and type E (alarm trasnmission with dialer).
When this exclusion is activated (Escl\System Att.Imm.) the control panel, in case of alarm, delays
the outputs for the programmed time (Prog\Sist\Tem. Usc.All.)
During the delay time the led is flashing and it is possible to reset the delay using the “End Delay”
key, it i operats at the level 1.
ZONE/POINT MASK (Yellow) :
it remains lighted when there is almost an exclusion in the control panel. We are referig to all the
exclusions that could be done in the exclusion menù.
WALK TEST IN PROGESS (Yellow) :
Lighted when the test is in progress.
POWER OK (Green) :
Fix lighted when the control panel is powered
FAULTS (Yellow) :
It is flashing if there is almost a trouble, of any kind, that has not been identified yet.
It remains lighted if all the trouble have been identified.
SYSTEMS (Yellow) :
it is lighted if there is almost a trouble in the system (watch dog fall, mistake in the memory, and so
on)
MAINS (Yellow) :
it is lighted if there is a trouble on the feeder.
EARTH (Yellow) :
It is always lighted with positive condition or negative earth.
SOUNDER (Yellow) :
It is lighted if the sounder is excluded.
It is flashing when the sounder output is in trouble.
FAULTS TX (Yellow) :
It is lighted when the transmission output is excluded.
It is flashing when the output for the troubles transmission is in trouble.
ALARM TX (Yellow) :
It is lighted when the alarm transmission output is excluded.
It is flashing when the alarm transmission output is in trouble.
EXTINGUISHING (Yellow) :
It is lighted if the output to the extinguishing systems is excluded.
It is flashing when the command for extinguishing systems is in trouble.

% Note. The entry in the non-volatile memory is subject to the position of the jumper J1 (hardware key) on
the back of the display.
Description of the keyboard function for the isnertion of the data in the
programming files:
With the indicators 34it is possible to move to the adjacent files.
With the indicators 56it is possible to visualize the fields in the files (the selected field appears with the
REVERSE prompt).
If the file provides for an index, we have the first two function buttons allowing the flowing.
The selected field can be changed using the editing form with the return key .
According to the type of data we have different editing:
- strings:4 new functioning key are displayed (F1 capital/small selection, F2 letters/numbers/symbols
selection, F3 insertion, F4 delete) with the indicators 56 it is possible to select the type for the current
position, with 34it is possible to move inside the file.
- numbers that can be modified : with 56it is possible to select the current digit, with 34it is possible to
select the position to be modified (trying to insert a value outside the admitted interval we obtain the
visualisation of the limits).
- numbers that cannot be modified: with 56it is possible to see in sequential way all the values.
- labels: with 56it is possible to see in sequential way all the selectable labels.
- address : simultaneous editing of two numerical fields.
At the end of the editing with the return key it is possible to accept the new value or with the escape key
it is possible to leave the changes.
To leave the file system we use the escape key.

It is possible to insert the passwords, when requested, selecting the necessary digit using the
e functioning keys and confirming each letter with return :
When it is introduces a wrong password the system visualize the following message:
“WRONG PASSWORD : xxxxx “ where “xxxxx” is a 5 character code, it is possible to signalize this code to
the authorized technical assistance.

Zone in alarm Condition
The following screen is visualized when there is a zone in alarm.
With 56it is possible to visualize the list of the zone in alarm.
Pressing the key it is possible to visualize on the display the list of the points in alarm inside the selected
zone, with 56 it is possible to visualize the list of the devices in alarm.
Zone in trouble Condition
The following screen is visualized when there is zone in trouble. At first also the troubles are visualized for
each zone.
With 56 it is possible to visualize the list of the zone in trouble.
With the first pressure of the return key it is visualized the list of the devices with the indication of the
point name, see following plate:

trouble, see following plate:
Pressing the escape key or let inactive the keyboard for 15 sec. We came back to the list of zone in
trouble.


The troubles regarding the control panel are defined “troubles of the system” (f.e.: discharged battery ,
absence network voltage, and so on.).
The troubles of the systems are visualized with the maximum level of details.

Conditions with alarm from a zone in test
Pressing the escape key it is visualized the list of the tested devices of the zone with the indication of the
name of the point, see following plate:
With 56 it is possible to visualize the list of the tested devices of the zone.

To look with 56the list of the excluded devices it is necessary to select the type to be visualized and
confirm it pressing the return cape .

Pressing the function key F1 it is possible to gain access to the programming menù, that allow the possibility
to perform the initial configuration of the system ant to make any changes in the programming.
To access to the menù it is necessary to insert the Level 4 password (default password: 44444).
To insert the password look up the editing function described on a pag. 5.
The following menù is visualized:

Thanks to the sub menù “System” it is possible to depict some general parameters effective for the
complete control panel, see the following plate:

Style : (4 = NORMAL, 6 = LOOP)
This function allow to change (in memory) the type of line connection, in accordance with the NFPA coding
(NORMAL = style 4 , LOOP = style 6) and the priority scan connected.

With the first pressure of the return key the editing function is activated, with the 56

With the 56select the voice to be modified (“Last. – Addr “ or “Seq.- n°”) an pressing the return key the

With 56it is possible to insert the data and with the return key they are confirmed.
To exit the menù use the escape key .
“Last. – Addr “ to program the number of modules (starting from the address “0") on which we want to make
the priority scan.
The number “Seq.- n°” is a parameter to define the frequency of the query from the control panel to the
modules. For example if we insert the number 20, the control panel will query the modules, enabled as
Priority SCAN, every 20 detectors.
The scansion of the modules quicker will be possible with the insertion of the value 10.

This sub menù allows the programming of the delay time for the alarm outputs, the delay time for the check
of the detectors alarms, inhibition of the silence, and so on.

With 56it is possible to select the voice that we want to modify (“Siren “ o “Tx Alarm”), the editing function
is activated with the pressure of the return key .
The data are introduced with 56and confirmed with the return key .
Press the right indicator 4to modify the audit on the detectors, see the following paragraph:
AUDIT TIME allow the control panel to audit the detector, for a fixed time, before to confirm any alarm.
This function will be activated only with the detectors that are enabled for the audit (see programming Points
menù).
The 56allow the selection of the voice that we want to modify (“Verification “ o “Verif. enabled”), the
editing function is activated with the pressure of the return key .
The data are introduced with 56and confirmed with the return key .
Press the right indicator 4to modify the parameters for the management of the silence, see the following
paragraph:
TIME FOR THE SILENCE INHIBITION: is the time during which is not admitted the silence operation of the
outputs after an alarm.
AUTORESET TIME: is the time after which the outputs are de-activated.
%Note: the auto-reset function has to be enabled during the single points Programming.
With 56it is possible to select the voice that we want to modify (“Sil. dis.“ , “Auto Sil.” , ”Auto Sil. Enab.”),
the editing function is activated with the pressure of the return key .
The data are introduced with 56and confirmed with the return key .
Press the right indicator 4to modify the parameters for the management of the troubles indications, see the
following paragraph:
TIME FOR THE MAIN TROUBLE DETECTION: is the minimum time therefore the network supply has to
lack to have the Trouble Main signal.

Each password is composed of 5 numerical
characters.
The numerical characters, available for the

inscription , it is visualized on the display
in absebce of alarms and troubles.

Programming of the Points
If we select the voice Points, from the programming menù, we display the screen that allow the complete
programming of all the devices ( detectors and addressable modules) connected to the line as per following
plate.

To enter in the complete programming of detectors section we have to select the “Detector” voice and to
confirm with the enter key . This procedure is composed of 3 programming files where the data insertion is
like the editing function (page 5)

It is possible to disconnect the led flashing of the
detector during the query of the line.
This kind of function is helpful in environment like
hotels, hospitals, and so on.
Thanks to the tracking function the alarm signal
from the detector ( that is associated to an output
module throught CBE) is followed by the module
Sensibility of the detector programming
Default valus :
Standard sensibility = 5
Low sensibility = 1
High sensitivity = 9
Programming “YES” the control panel, before to
confirm any alarm, wiil verify the detector, for
the time fixed during the Timing programming.

From the Points menù it is possible to enter in the complete programming procedure for modules through the
selection of the “Modules” voice, to confirm press the return key .
This procedure is composed of 3 programming files where the data insertion is like the editing function (page
5)
