This manual will guide you through installing, configuring and operating HUSS system.

2 General Information
Overview
HUSS (Honeywell Ultra-Smart Streamer) system includes two parts: HUSS-E4V video
encoder and HUSS-M video client. They communicate with each other through network.
HUSS-E4V video encoder converts analog video signal into digital signal and encoded it
according to H.264 standard (D1). The encoded video information along with the
synchronous audio signal is transmitted to HUSS-M video client. With HUSS-E4V video
encoder, you can also control PTZ and send alarm information to HUSS-M video client
through network.
HUSS-E4V can be configured easily through IE browser. And real-time video encoded by
the HUSS-E4V is displayed directly on the network client of each PC.
HUSS-M video client decodes the encoded video files from HUSS-E4V and displays it on
PC, with audio signal played synchronously. For detail, refer to HUSS-M Video Client
User Guide.
Structure of HUSS system is shown in Figure 2-1.

General Information

HUSS-E4V possesses following features:
Advanced coding standard—HUSS-E4V encodes video information according to
H.264(Advanced Video Coding) standard, supports dual stream real-time D1 resolution
which optimizes compression rate, keeping best video quality with least storage space.
Great network and security performance—with built-in Web Server, HUSS-E4V can
be configured remotely through network. And users can also watch real-time video from
HUSS-E4V remotely through network. It features multiple user profiles, motion detection
and alarm reporting, which all guarantee users’ security. Local backup and system log
protect the integrity of information effectively from network breakdown.
Excellent integration characteristic and extendable functions—HUSS-E4V can
communicate with other device (such as PTZ) and extend functions through RS-232
serial port. Complete API enables the third party to integrate the encoder conveniently.

Connecting External Power
Please use the 12V DC power in the package. Plug them into the power interface.
Mounting Encoder
Video encoders may be desktop-mounting, rack-mounting or wall-mounting.
For desktop-mounting, encoders can be placed or fixed on desk.
For rack-mounting, encoders may be installed in a metal rack-mounting cabinet with the
help of plates in the package and metal boards whose dimensions is shown in Figure 3-3.
The height of cabinet is 4U.

Connecting Video/Audio Input/output
Connecting Video Input
The Video Input interface of encoders should be BNC (1.0Vp-p, 75 Ω). The input
PAL/NTSC video signal should meet national standard: high SNR, low distortion and
interference. The image should be clear, non-distorted, in natural color and proper
brightness.

•Make sure the signal of camera is stable and reliable
Camera should be mounted in right place to avoid backlight and low luminance
environment. Or use cameras with good backlight compensation or low luminance.
•Make sure the transmission is stable and reliable
To transmit signal reliably, high quality BNC with excellent shielding performance is used
and its type shall be selected in terms of transmitting distance. In case of over limited
distance, using twisted-pair or optical fiber and adding video compensation device to
transmit signal reliably.
Video signal line should be out of strong electromagnetic interference, especially entering
of high voltage current.
•Make sure the contact is in good condition
Signal line and shielding line should be firm and in good contact. Avoid false soldering,
lap welding or oxidation.
Connecting Audio Input
Audio Input of encoder is 3.5mm Audio Jack, Line In (2Vp-p, 10KΩ).As input resistance is
high, active pickup should be used in Audio Input.
Similar to video transmission, audio transmission requires less interference, no false
soldering or poor contact, especially no entering high voltage current.Generally, indoor
audio input line shall not longer than three meters. But if it is used outdoor, we suggest
using proper protection to avoid the risk by lightning.
Connecting Intercom Audio Input and Output
Intercom audio inputs of encoder supports MIC and Line In (Input range: 2Vp-p);
Intercom output supports AC coupled (0.707VRMS). Headphone or active speaker can
be connected to Audio Input directly. Other sound output device can also be connected to
Audio Output interface through amplifier. Generally, indoor audio output line shall not
longer than three meters. But if it is used outdoor, we suggest using proper protection to
avoid the risk by lightning.

Connecting Alarm In and Out Device
Connecting Alarm Input Device
•Alarm input is Normal Open and Normal Close type.
•Alarm detector should be powered by external power.
•Earth terminal of alarm detector should be connected to its COM port.
•Earth terminal of alarm detector should be connected to earth terminal on the rear
panel of HUSS-E4V.
•Normal Open terminal or Normal Closed terminal of the alarm detector should be
connected to encoder’s Alarm In 1~4.
Connecting Alarm Output Device
There are four alarm output interface (Normal Open Contact) on the rear panel of
encoder. External alarm device must be powered.
To avoid damaging the panel because of overload, refer to relay parameters in the
following table when connecting the device.
