General Information

About the AlarmNet Enterprise Application
AlarmNet Enterprise is a fully encrypted, secure method of delivering alarm messages from
a protected premise to a local security office in a campus or gated community setting. Up to
225, 7845i-ent Internet/Intranet Alarm Communication Modules can be installed on a
network reporting to a single 7810iR-ent. In a typical system, an installed 7845i-ent routes
status, supervisory, and alarm messages to the security office using a 10-BaseT Ethernet
connection. At the security office, the 7810iR-ent validates and displays incoming messages
and optionally routes the messages to an output device. AlarmNet Enterprise is
implemented using TCP Internet protocol and 1024-bit Key Blowfish or 256-bit AES
encryption. (See Figure 1.)

About the AlarmNet-i Internet Application
AlarmNet-i is a fully encrypted, secure method of delivering alarm messages from a
protected premise to an AlarmNet equipped central station. An Alarm Receiver transmits
status, supervisory, and alarm messages to the AlarmNet Control Center using a broadband
Internet connection (See Figure 1).
The AlarmNet Control Center identifies, validates, and forwards the messages to the
appropriate AlarmNet central station using AlarmNet-A, AlarmNet-M, AlarmNet-i, or 800
plus services. An Internet receiver, 7810iR or 7810iR-ent, is required when receiving
Internet signals from the AlarmNet Control Center. AlarmNet-i has an unlimited account
capacity.
UL
The 800 PLUS has not been evaluated by UL.
Encryption (AlarmNet-i Application)
The 7845i-ent and 7810iR-ent support private key encryption. Private key encryption means
that both the sender and the receiver know the KEY used to encrypt the data. Each device
produced by Honeywell is loaded with a globally unique identifier called a MAC number, and
a large random number or KEY. This KEY and MAC number are also stored in the
AlarmNet servers. When a device contacts AlarmNet it sends the MAC number in the clear
followed by the message that is encrypted using the KEY data. The server looks up its copy
of the KEY based on the MAC number and uses that KEY to decrypt the message.
The Honeywell AlarmNet products support two forms of encryption. The standard
encryption used is called Blowfish. This encryption uses 1024 bits of the random key to drive
the encryption algorithm. Blowfish requires the least processor overhead, which makes it
the best choice for most installations. The second form of encryption is 256 bit AES
(Rijndael). This encryption option is required for certain government installation, or may be
specified in certain applications. The AlarmNet-i AES Encryption Software Module Version

1.0 contained in the Honeywell products has NIST approval. Listings for this approval can

Encryption (Enterprise Application)
The previous paragraph described general encryption, and how it functions with AlarmNet.
When used in a Private closed network or Enterprise installations, some additional processes
are required to support encryption. In an enterprise installation the 7810iR-ent takes on the
server function that exists in the AlarmNet Internet installation.
Installation Key (Enterprise Application)
At installation a 10-digit installation key needs to be programmed into every device in the
network. This 10-digit key should be the same for all devices used in the Private LAN mode.
The purpose of this key is to encrypt the private KEY of each subscriber device as it is
registered to the 7810iR-ent so this sensitive data is never sent in the clear. This KEY is
only used for registration purposes and cannot be used for supervision or alarm
transmission. Once a device is registered the 7810iR-ent will have a copy of the 7845i-ent’s
factory KEY. From this point on, the unique factory key is used for communications.
Recovery Mode (Enterprise Application)
Recovery Mode is only applicable when in Private LAN Mode. In the event of a failure of the
7810iR-ent requiring the replacement of the hardware or the erasure of its memory the
7810iR-ent supports a Recovery Mode (when in Private Mode only). In Recovery Mode the
7810iR-ent is programmed with the same 10-digit installation key. When a 7845i-ent
communicates with the 7810iR-ent and is found not to exist in its database, a special
response is sent back to the 7845i-ent requesting it to re-register itself. The 7845i-ent then
register’s using the 10-digit installation key. When all accounts have been recovered,
Recovery Mode can be turned off to provide better control of registration.
About the 7810iR-ent
The 7810iR-ent is the receiving end of the AlarmNet system. Using a 10-BaseT Ethernet
connection, the 7810iR-ent receives Contact ID alarm messages and ADEMCO High Speed
supervisory messages from the protected premises and locally displays them. The 7810iR-
ent can be used in stand-alone mode where, messages are displayed on the LCD touch
screen, or they can be routed to either a LRR line card in a Listed 685 Receiver, an MX8000
Receiver or directly to central station automation equipment. (Direct routing to central
station automation equipment has not been evaluated by UL).

7810iR-ent Backup Receiver (Enterprise Application)
Backup receiver is supported for Private LAN configuration only. AlarmNet-i configuration
doesn’t support backup receiver. The main objective of the backup receiver is to support un-
interrupted alarm reporting when the primary receiver fails. The backup receiver assumes
the responsibility of the primary receiver in case of a primary receiver failure. When a
subscriber detects that the primary receiver is offline or failed, the subscriber directs all
alarms to the backup receiver.

messages to an ADEMCO digital alarm receiver through a long-range radio line card.
685 Automation Mode: The 7810iR-ent emulates the 685 digital receiver output
protocol by using a direct serial interface to send incoming alarm messages to
automation equipment.

UL The Remote Access feature and uploading/downloading of control panel data over IP have not
been evaluated by UL.
ULC
These functions are performed by the automation software connected to the
7810iR-ent.
•When concurrent signals are received, they are displayed in descending order of priority.
•The operator can redisplay any alarm, supervisory or trouble signals.
ULC Must use a ULC listed serial printer suitable for use in Central and Monitoring Stations. (Such
as a PRN-6 or PRN-6F serial printer.)

Mounting the 7810iR-ent
UL
The 7810iR-ent is intended for dry, indoor use only.
To mount the 7810iR-ent, complete the following steps:
1. Detach the case back by pushing up into the two tabs located at the bottom of the
7810iR-ent with a screwdriver blade while pulling the case back and case front apart.
2. Locate the case back over the mounting surface such that the opening in the case
back is aligned with the wire/cable access opening (in the mounting surface) while
passing the wires/cable through the opening in the case back.
3. Secure the case back to the mounting surface using four screws (supplied).
For UL Commercial Fire/Burglary installations, mount the 7810iR-ent in a 19" UL Listed
Rack Panel as shown below. To do this, complete the following steps:
1. After separating the case back from the case front, as described in Step 1 above, align
the case back over the Rack Panel and drill four mounting holes aligned with the
existing mounting holes in the case back (of the 7810iR-ent).
2. Drill a large hole in the center of the Rack Panel aligned with the existing wire/cable
access opening in the case back (of the 7810iR-ent). Insert grommet into the large
center hole to protect wiring from any sharp edges prior to passing wires/cable
through the opening.
3. Secure the case back to the Rack Panel using four screws and nuts (supplied).

Power Requirements
The 7810iR-ent requires a 12VDC, 500mA line input.
UL
For UL installations, the DC power supply must be a UL Listed, regulated 12VDC, min. 500mA
Commercial Fire Alarm power supply, or two UL Listed Class 2 Honeywell Model 7720V2TRs
powered by a UL1481 Listed UPS with audible and visual indications of switchover to
secondary power.
ULC
For ULC installations, the DC power supply must be a CUL or CSA Listed, regulated 12VDC,
min. 500mA Commercial Fire Alarm power supply, or two UL Listed Class 2 Honeywell Model
7720V2TR-CNs powered by a CUL or CSA Listed Commercial Fire Alarm UPS with audible
and visual indications of switchover to secondary power.
Manual Mode
General Information
As the name implies, Manual Mode is a standalone method of receiving Contact ID or
ADEMCO high-speed messages from a protected premise. Incoming messages are displayed
in the New Alarm Window of the 7810iR-ent. An operator is required to silence an incoming
alarm and manually move it from the New Alarm window to the Alarm History window
using the appropriate touch keys on the GUI.
A programmable feature allows Manual Mode to be the 7810iR-ent failure mode. When
selected during programming, Fail to Manual allows the 7810iR-ent to automatically
revert to Manual Mode if the automation equipment or LRR line card fails. Fail to Manual
mode must be enabled for UL installations. Refer to Section 5 for a detailed description of
the Fail to Manual feature.
Wiring the 7810iR-ent for Manual Mode
There are two methods of powering the 7810iR-ent. You can use a UL Listed, regulated
12VDC, min. 500mA Commercial Fire Alarm power supply, or two UL Listed Class 2
Honeywell Model 7720V2TRs powered by a UL1481 Listed UPS. If using Model 7720V2TRs,
refer to Figure 1a, and connect as follows:
1. Connect the 12V AUX terminal (pin 1) of the 7810iR-ent to the DC (+) terminal of a
7720V2TR power supply.
2. Connect the 12V IN terminal (pin 2) of the 7810iR-ent to the DC (+) terminal of a second
7720V2TR power supply.
3. Connect the GND terminal (pin 3, BLK) of the 7810iR-ent to the DC (-) terminal of both
7720V2TR power supplies.
4. Connect one end of the Ethernet cable (Category 5) to the 7810iR-ent’s RJ45 Ethernet
connector and the other end to an Ethernet router.
UL For AlarmNet you must use a UL Listed cable/DSL router (externally powered) suited for the
application.
5. Attach the case front of the 7810iR-ent to the case back. Attach the top of the 7810iR-ent
first, and then press the bottom section inward until it snaps into place securely.
NOTE: For more information on networking, refer to the Communications Setup Section.
For general information on the 7810iR-ent, refer to the Navigation and Basic Features
Section. To complete the installation, refer to the Programming Section.

LRR Line Card Mode
General Information
When configured for LRR Line Card Mode, subscriber alarm messages received on the
10BaseT connection are passed to either a 685-5 line card that is installed in a 685 Digital
Alarm Receiver or the MX8000-LRR Card installed in an MX-8000 receiver.
New alarms are briefly displayed in the 7810iR-ent New Alarm window with no audible
alert. When the line card receives and acknowledges the alarm message, the 7810iR-ent
automatically moves the current message into the Alarm History window. The next alarm in
the New Alarm buffer will be displayed in the New Alarm window.
UL
Use of the 7810iR-ent with the MX-8000 Receiver has not been evaluated by UL.
Wiring the 7810iR-ent for LRR Line Card Mode
There are two methods of powering the 7810iR-ent. You can use a UL Listed, regulated
12VDC, min. 500mA Commercial Fire Alarm power supply or two UL Listed Class 2
Honeywell Model 7720V2TRs powered by a UL1481 Listed UPS. If using Model
7720V2TRs, refer to Figure 2a, and connect as follows:
1. Cut all lugs from ADEMCO cable assembly P4127.
2. Connect the 12V AUX terminal (pin 1) of the 7810iR-ent to the DC (+) terminal of a
7720V2TR power supply.
3. Connect the 12V IN terminal (pin 2) of the 7810iR-ent to the DC (+) terminal of a
second 7720V2TR power supply.
4. Connect the GND terminal (pin 3) of the 7810iR-ent to DC (-) terminal of both
7720V2TR power supplies and the yellow lead of cable assembly P4127.
5. Connect the Data Out (pin 4) terminal of the 7810iR-ent to the green lead of cable
assembly P4127.
6. Connect the Data In (pin 5) terminal of the 7810iR-ent to the red lead of cable
assembly P4127.
7. Plug the P4127 cable into the male DB25 connector as shown in the figure below.
8. Insert the green wire from the DB25 connector housing into pin 2 of the DB25
connector.
9. Insert the red wire from the DB25 connector housing into pin 3 of the DB25
connector.
10. Insert the yellow wire from the DB25 connector housing into pin 7 of the DB25
connector.
11. Connect one end of the Ethernet cable (Category 5) to the 7810iR-ent’s RJ45
Ethernet connector and the other end to an Ethernet router.
UL
For UL installations, the DC power supply must be a UL Listed, regulated 12VDC, min. 500mA
Commercial Fire Alarm power supply, or two UL Listed Class 2 Honeywell Model 7720V2TRs
powered by a UL1481 Listed UPS with audible and visual indications of switchover to
secondary power.

685 Automation Mode
General Information
When configured for 685 Automation Mode, subscriber alarm messages received on the
10BaseT connection are routed directly to Automation equipment. Using an RS232 serial
interface, the 7810iR-ent communicates with Automation equipment in the same way a 685
or MX-8000 Digital Alarm Receiver does.
UL
Use of the 7810iR-ent with the MX-8000 Receiver has not been evaluated by UL.
New alarms are briefly displayed in the 7810iR-ent New Alarm window with no audible
alert. When the Automation equipment receives and acknowledges the alarm message, the
7810iR-ent automatically moves the current message into the Alarm History window. The
next alarm in the New Alarm buffer will be displayed in the New Alarm window.
Wiring 7810iR-ent for 685 Automation Mode
There are two methods of powering the 7810iR-ent. You can use a UL Listed, regulated
12VDC, min. 500mA Commercial Fire Alarm power supply or two UL Listed Class 2
Honeywell Model 7720V2TRs powered by a UL1481 Listed UPS. If using Model 7720V2TRs,
refer to Figures 3a and 3b, and connect as follows:
1. Cut all lugs from ADEMCO cable assembly P4127 provided.

2. Connect the 12V AUX terminal (pin 1) of the 7810iR-ent to the DC (+) terminal of a
7720V2TR power supply. Connect a jumper between 12V AUX terminal (pin 1) and
12V IN (pin 2, RED).
3. Connect the 12V IN terminal (pin 2) of the 7810iR-ent to the DC (+) terminal of a
second 7720V2TR power supply.
4. Connect the GND terminal (pin 3) of the 7810iR-ent to DC (-) terminal of both
7720V2TR power supplies and to the yellow lead of ADEMCO cable assembly P4127
as shown.
5. Connect the Data Out (pin 4) terminal of the 7810iR-ent to the green lead of
ADEMCO cable assembly P4127 as shown.
6. Connect the Data In (pin 5) terminal of the 7810iR-ent to the red lead of ADEMCO
cable assembly P4127 as shown.
7. Plug cable assembly P4127 into ADEMCO connector assembly K1153.
8. Insert the red wire from the K1153 connector housing into pin 2 of the K1153
connector.
9. Insert the green wire from the K1153 connector housing into pin 3 of the K1153
connector.
10. Insert the yellow wire from the K1153 connector housing into pin 5 of the K1153
connector.
11. Connect one end of the Ethernet cable (Category 5) to 7810iR-ent’s RJ45 Ethernet
connector and the other end to a cable/DSL router.
UL For AlarmNet you must use a UL Listed cable/DSL router (externally powered) suited for the
application.
12. Attach the case front of the 7810iR-ent to the case back. Attach the top of the
7810iR-ent first, and then press the bottom section inward until it snaps into place
securely.
UL
Use of the 7810iR-ent with the MX-8000 Receiver has not been evaluated by UL.

UL
For UL installations, the DC power supply must be a UL Listed, regulated 12VDC, min. 500mA
Commercial Fire Alarm power supply, or two UL Listed Class 2 Honeywell Model 7720V2TRs
powered by a UL1481 Listed UPS with audible and visual indications of switchover to
secondary power.
ULC
For ULC installations, the DC power supply must be a CUL or CSA Listed, regulated 12VDC,
min. 500mA Commercial Fire Alarm power supply, or two UL Listed Class 2 Honeywell Model
7720V2TR-CNs powered by a CUL or CSA Listed Commercial Fire Alarm UPS with audible
and visual indications of switchover to secondary power.
Serial Printer Installation
The 7810iR-ent supports Okidata Microline 320 serial printers. The serial printer is
connected to 7810iR-ent using an RS232C link. All reports received by 7810iR-ent are also
printed on the connected printer. If a user manually acknowledges an alarm then “^^^ User
Ack ^^^” is printed after an alarm to indicate that the previous alarm was manually
acknowledged. The 7810iR-ent does not supervise the printer and will not generate any
alarm if the printer is out of paper or if the printer is disconnected.
ULC Must use a ULC listed serial printer suitable for use in Central and Monitoring Stations.
(Such as a PRN-6 or PRN-6F serial printer.)

Printer should be configured as follows -
Parity (none), Serial Data (8 bits), Baud rate (19200 bps);

Home Screen
The 7810iR-ent uses a Graphical User Interface (GUI). The user programs and controls the
unit by pressing the required touch screen buttons.
The 7810iR-ent home screen is shown below. New incoming alarms are displayed using
Contact ID or ADEMCO high-speed format in the New Alarm Window. When a new alarm is
received it will be displayed in the New Alarm Window until the alarm is transmitted to the
line card or automation equipment, or manually acknowledged. When the alarm message is
transmitted, it is moved from the New Window to the Alarm History Window.

Flashing green light indicates that recovery mode is ON.
Time display/button
Displays the time.
Note: When accessed from Advanced Setup screen, it enables an
authorized operator to set time, date and time zone.
Silence Alert button
Used to silence new alarms and move them to the Alarm History
window.
Manual Override box
When checked, allows the operator to quickly select manual
mode while in either Line Card or Automation Mode if Fail to
Manual Mode is selected.
AlarmNet Setup button
Used to access all the 7810iR-ent programmable features.
Private LAN, Mode, and System
status displays
Used to indicate network status, operating mode and overall system
status, respectively. When used in an enterprise application where
the 7810iR-ent is not reporting to another Central Station, the
network status display will show AlarmNet Blocked. This is a normal
condition. If “Private LAN Only” LAN Config is selected then
network status display will show Private LAN.

Used to silence new alarms and move them to the Alarm History
window.
Navigation
From the Home Screen, press the Setup Button:
When navigating from any 7810iR-ent screen:
the button returns the user to the Home screen,
the button returns the user to the previous screen.
The Contrast control allows the user to adjust the display contrast.
The Volume control is used to adjust the volume of the local alert and button push tones.
The Blank Display After option works in the same way the screen saver feature works on a
PC, use the pull-down to select a blanking period.
The To Home Page After is used to select how long an idle screen will be displayed before
automatically going to the Home screen.

Use the Clean Screen button to briefly disable the touch screen for cleaning. Read and
follow the instructions for cleaning when this function is selected.
In the lower left corner of the display, one of the following icons will appear:
Indicates the 7810iR-ent is currently being accessed remotely.
Indicates the 7810iR-ent is enabled for remote access but is not currently under remote
control. To disable remote access, press this button. For UL/ULC installations this feature
should be disabled.
