This manual describes the operation of the Total Organic Carbon Analyzer, HT-110.
Be sure to read this manual before using the product to ensure proper and safe operation of
the instrument. Also safely store the manual so it is readily available whenever necessary.

■Safety Precautions
This section provides precautions to enable you to use the product safely and correctly and to
prevent injury and damage. The terms of DANGER, WARNING, and CAUTION indicate the
degree of imminency and hazardous situation. Read the precautions carefully as it contains
important safety messages.
WARNING
Electric shock
Make sure that no electric power is supplied to the instrument before starting this work.
Do not turn on the power until your work is completed.
Terminal is a protective grounding terminal. Be sure to perform grounding to prevent electric
shock. (D type grounding)

Make sure to put the terminal covers to prevent electric shock.
Make sure that POWER switch is turned OFF before replacing the lamp, and that it is cool enough for
replacement. (It takes about 10 minutes for the lamp to cool off after POWER switch is turned OFF.)
CAUTION
Do not operate the keys or push the panel surface with a sharp object, such as the fingernail.
To connect a load beyond the contact capacity or use inductive load (such as a motor, or pump), be
sure to use a power relay whose rating is higher than the load.
When the instrument is turned off, the C-NC contact is shorted. Be careful when connecting a load.
Install an arrester at the out put and receiving instrument sides of this instrument when there is a dan-
ger of lightening striking.
Input a non-voltage contact signal for the contact. Do not input a signal that has voltage.
Do not touch the glass portion of the UV lamp with bare hands.
Wipe any dirt off the surface with alcohol.

Points of concern
Use of the equipment in a manner not specified by the manufacturer may impair the protection
provided by the equipment. And it may also reduce equipment performance.
Disposal of the product
When disposing of the product, follow the related laws and/or regulations of your country for
disposal of the product.

1 Outline

1 Outline
This instrument is designed for the continuous stable measurement of concentration of TOC
(Total Organic Carbon) in pure water such as water for medical use. The measurement
method applies ultraviolet (UV) ray irradiation to flow-type quartz reaction tube, to oxidize
organic matter by UV oxidization. From the conductivity variation pre- and post- the reaction
tube, the concentration of generated carbon dioxide is calculated under the assumption that
organic carbon is to be oxidized into carbon dioxide, and the calculation result is converted
into TOC concentration.
The display area shows three parameters; TOC concentration, Conductivity, Temperature.
Each measurement range is as follows:
The concentration unit used here (ppb) is based on the mass ratio.
When the sample is measured for conductivity and temperature, the conductivity
compensated at 25°C is calculated and displayed according to the programmed temperature
characteristics of sample. The instrument is calibrated with sucrose solution which is standard
material for TOC.
The transmittance output allows TOC concentration. Two output patterns can be selected
between 4 mA to 20 mA DC and 0 V to 1 V DC (optional).
There are two contact outputs, defined as follows respectively;
Contact 1 (1c): Error, Hold, TOC concentration, Conductivity, Temperature (selectable)
Contact 2 (1a): TOC concentration
The wetted material inside the instrument includes SUS316, PFA, and quartz glass.
The instrument allows direct resin-piping to the overflow tank joint on the lower part of the
instrument.
The pump allows quantitative sampling to the instrument inside, which avoids interference due
to sample flow variation and pressure fluctuation.
The moving average count for the data converted to TOC concentration, conductivity, and
temperature can be set. Small count allows rapid response, and large count allows averaged
data acquisition.

2.2.2 Operation keys
Operation keys allows such operations as display switch and setting value input.
With the condition of display flashing, you can change the setting of values and parameters.
When the flashing values/parameters are changed ▲/▼key (up-down key) and the ENT key
is pressed, the setting is finished with the display flashed.

decreases the value by count. Depressing the key continuously increases/

Normal measurement state (No error occurred in the measurement mode)
Note
Measurement, alarm contact output, and transmittance output can
be processed even in such messages as UV lamp deterioration or
tube pump deterioration are displayed. This situation, however, will
cause measurement error; when these messages are displayed,
immediately replace the concerned part.
Green lamp
flashing
The following allows measurement, but the alarm contact output stops
depending on the control target, and transmittance output gives the last
hold value (value just before the green lamp flashing or red lamp flashing
starts).

When the error occurs in the following condition setting, the alarm contact
output stops depending on the control target, and transmittance output

condition is enough.
zWhen “YES” is set in the “sample temperature error selection” and the
condition is enough.
When the display shows “No Sample”, the above operation is processed.

The MAINT switch is "ON".
Press the MENU key to go to OFFLINE state.
Measurement and output stop and the Setting Menu is displayed.

3.1 Rating

3.2 Installation condition
This instrument provides splash-proof construction but we assume that it is installed indoor.
In order to use it in a stable condition, place it in the following conditions.

Note
