25M AUTOMATIC HOSE REEL –Professional Series
INSTRUCTION MANUAL
1. BEFORE USE
Please read these instructions carefully
Do not attempt to open the cover. Only specialized personnel who have been trained in hose reel repairs should
attempt to remove the outer casing.
This hose is not suitable to be used as a drinking water hose.
2. INTRODUCTION
This high quality hose reel is manufactured from a range of quality materials, including a powerful spring mechanism that is
designed to retract the hose automatically.
The length of the hose contained in the reel is 25m. One of the few things that can cause serious damage to the hose reel is
if the hose is overextended - past 25 metres. We recommend that you mark the hose prominently (with some bright
coloured electrical tape for example) between 24 and 25m, so you can identify when you are approaching the maximum
limit of hose extension. Damage caused by over extension of the hose is not covered by the warranty.
The reel is equipped with a retracting mechanism that locks the hose in place at
a desired length for your watering needs, and then slowly layers the hose back on to the hose reel automatically when you
are finished. The retracting mechanism prevents the hose retracting at a high speed in order to reduce the risk of causing
injury to any person standing nearby, and to prevent damage to the hose and hose reel itself.
Fig.1 and Fig.2 show a picture of the unit and the recommended mounting position respectively.

3. INSTALLATION
The hose reel needs to be secured to a wall or post (using the mounting bracket).
1. When securing the hose reel to a wall or a post, mount it within reaching distance of the tap (for the short hose –reel to
tap connection), and ensure that there is sufficient room to allow the reel to pivot 180°. The most common orientation
favoured in securing the hose reel to a wall or post is to mount the reel vertically as shown in Fig.2.
NOTE: Ensure that the mounting bracket is secured flat against the wall or post during installation.
If the hose reel needs to be mounted further from the tap, an extra length of hose can be added using a Hoselink Hose
Joiner Set (Product Code: 2410).
2. It is recommended that the bracket be secured to the wall 0.845m above the ground (Fig. 2)
Install the mounting bracket shown in Fig. 3 to the wall or post. To mount the bracket onto Brick you will need to
drill the holes 12mm x 60mm and use the masonry plugs and washers.
To mount the bracket onto Timber you will need to drill the holes 5mm diameter and 60mm deep. Note: The
masonry plugs are NOT used when securing the bracket to Timber.
◆Note: Use a level to ensure the bracket is installed plumb, not at an angle as shown in fig. 4
3. Lift the hose reel onto the mounting bracket, and then slide the Lock Clamp into place as per Fig. 5.
4. Screw the Hoselink Tap Connector onto tap (remove the old connector first), then connect the short (Leader) hose to the
Tap Connector. You are ready to go!
Note that your reel can swivel 180° (Fig. 6)
4. USING THE HOSE REEL
Extend the hose to the desired length - the hose will lock automatically as soon as you stop pulling.
To disable the lock simply extend the hose further and the lock will be released automatically. Note: when the lock is

released the hose reel will be in ‘retract’ mode and will retract the entire length of hose without locking again.
To lock the hose again, simply halt retraction and then extend the hose to the new desired length –again the lock will be
activated automatically when you stop pulling.
Warning
Under no circumstances should you let go of the hose. Always hold it firmly and walk back to the reel until it is fully
retracted.
If the hose is accidentally dropped and retracts itself, it is strongly recommended that you extend the hose to its full
length and then permit it to retract smoothly as you walk it back to the reel. This will allow the self layering
mechanism to layer the hose correctly on to the reel.
When the hose is extended to such a length that the warning indicator can be seen (approx 1 meter from the end
of the hose), do not pull the hose with any excessive force as this can damage the internal connection to the reel.
Do not try to force the direction in which the hose is retracting. Instead, allow the self layering mechanism to feed
the hose slowly on to the reel automatically.
5. CARE AND MAINTENANCE
This hose reel contains a high-quality hose that has been rigorously pressure tested by Hoselink. In order to keep it in
optimum shape we recommend you follow these guidelines:
1. After use turn off the tap and release the water pressure prior to retracting the hose.
2. Do not leave the hose reel exposed to very high or very low temperatures for prolonged periods of time. High
temperatures can damage the hose causing it to eventually split, and very low temperatures can cause the hose to lose
flexibility making it difficult to retract.
3. Do not spill or use any chemicals or substances with this hose such as acetone, white spirits, lactic acid etc. Damage
caused by these or other chemicals will invalidate the warranty.
4. Do not submerge the reel into water to clean it. Keep the hose clean by wiping with a damp cloth when fully extended.
5. Mount the reel in a sheltered and shaded location in order to prolong the life expectancy and to ensure a maximum
period of trouble-free service.
6. When not in use for extended periods it is best to store the hose reel in a garage or shed.
6. TROUBLESHOOTING
The most common malfunction is that the hose cannot be retracted automatically after fully extending the hose. This may
happen if the locking mechanism gets stuck in the locking state or if the hose has been extended beyond the warning mark.
There are two ways to solve this:
1. Hold the hose at the yellow warning mark, and with one hand on top of the reel, pull the hose with a short, sharp
jerking motion until the hose retracts.
2. Lay the hose reel with its right side down, and then pull on the hose until it retracts.(Fig. 7)
