Setup and BIOS History
The latest BIOS, the flasher utility program, and the BIOS history can each be
obtained from the HP Electronic Services. BIOS revisions are of the form
GK.xx.xx.
Cache Memory
The PC has 256 KB of integrated level-two cache memory.
Video Memory
The PC is supplied with 1 MB of video memory for 1024 × 768 in 256 colors. An
additional 1 MB of video memory can be installed in the video memory socket
(to make a total of 2 MB) for 1024 × 768 in 64 K colors.

Main Memory
The HP Vectra VL 5/xx PC has three banks on the system board for installing
main memory; banks A, B and C. Each bank consists of two sockets. The PC is
supplied with 8 MB or 16 MB of main memory (two 4 MB or two 8 MB memory
modules installed in bank A).
It is recommended to install memory modules in pairs, so that each bank with
memory installed contains two memory modules of the same size. This enables
the bank to be accessed as 64-bit memory, and offers better performance than a
bank containing only one memory module (accessed as 32-bit memory). Main
memory can be installed up to a maximum of 192 MB.
The HP Vectra VL 5/xx PC supports memory interleaving when four memory
modules of the same size are installed in either banks A and B or banks B and C.
Configurations using memory interleaving will provide the best memory
performance.
