• HP Vectra with DOS and MS-Windows for Workgroups 3.11 installed.
• IBM Token-Ring 16/4 PCI adapter and drivers CD ver 1.
• Driver Name: IBMTRPO.LAN Size: 65KB Date: 7/26/96
• Novell Netware server that supports Net BEUI, NWLink IPX/SPX, and
NWLink NetBIOS transfer protocols.
Device Configuration
Procedure
1Boot the Vectra to a DOS prompt, and insert the IBM Token-Ring 16/4 PCI
adapter and drivers CD ver 1.
2VE7/VE8: From the "IBMTRPCI\LANAID\" directory on your CD-ROM
type "LANAIDC/VIEW" to verify the deice configuration settings. VL8 and
VE7/VE8: From the “IBMWOL\IBMTRPCI\LANAID\” directory on your
CD-ROM run “LANAID.EXE.”
3Hit enter for “Software Installation” and verify the following options:
4DOS with Windows v3.1x
5Express Install LAN Client’s NetWare Client & 802.2
6Hit enter to continue, and at the “Express Install of IBM LAN Client”
window, hit enter to install.
7After file copy is complete, remove any diskettes, hit enter four times to
exit, then reboot the computer.
8After Windows loads, open the “Netware User Applications” window, and

Procedure
1With the HP Vectra turned off, install the IBM 16/4 PCI TR adapter card
into a PCI slot.
2Boot the machine to Windows 95, and the Token-Ring card will
automatically be recognized. Click on “Next.”
3When prompted, click on “Other Locations.”
4Insert drivers CD, set the path to “D:\WIN95\” (Where “D” is the drive
letter assigned to your CD-ROM) and click “OK.”
(If you have an HP preloaded HDD, set the path to “C:\MASTERS\LAN
\TRPCI.WOL\WIN95\”)
5Click on “OK” to continue the installation.
6Verify that “IBM PCI Token-Ring Adapter, NDIS2/3” is listed and click on
“Finish.”
7Click “OK” to provide your Computer and Workgroup names.
8Enter your Computer Name, Workgroup Name, Computer Description,
and click on “Close.”

9When prompted for the “IBM PCI Token-Ring Option Diskette” click on
“OK.”
10 In the “Copying Files…” dialogue box, set the path to “D:\DOS\” (Where
“D” is the drive letter assigned to your CD-ROM) and click “OK.”
(If you have an HP preloaded HDD, set the path to “C:\MASTERS\LAN
\TRPCI.WOL\DOS\”)
11 When prompted for the file “IBMTRP.VXD”, set the path to “D:\WIN95\”
(Where “D” is the drive letter assigned to your CD-ROM) and click “OK.”
(If you have an HP preloaded HDD, set the path to “C:\MASTERS\LAN
\TRPCI.WOL\WIN95\”)
12 When prompted to insert the Windows 95 CD-ROM, click on “OK.”
13 Set the path to your Windows 95 files and click on “OK.”
(If you have an HP pre-loaded HDD, set the path statement
C:\MASTERS\WIN95\SYSTEM\CABS\”).
14 Click on “Yes” to restart your computer and finish the installation.

10 In the “Copying Files…” dialogue box, set the path to “D:\DOS\” (Where
“D” is the drive letter assigned to your CD-ROM) and click “OK.”

11 When prompted for the file “IBMTRP.VXD”, set the path to “D:\WIN95\”
(Where “D” is the drive letter assigned to your CD-ROM) and click “OK.”

\TRPCI.WOL\WIN95\”)
12 When prompted to insert the Windows 95 CD-ROM, click on “OK.”
13 Set the path to your Windows 95 files and click on “OK.”

C:\MASTERS\WIN95\SYSTEM\CABS\”).
14 Click on “Yes” to restart your computer and finish the installation.

SPX, and NWLink NetBIOS transfer protocols.

Procedure
1With the HP Vectra turned off, install the IBM 16/4 PCI TR adapter card
into a PCI slot.
2Power on the machine and boot to Windows 3.11.
3After Windows loads, open the “NETWORK” folder, and double-click the
“NETWORK SETUP” icon.
4Select “Networks” and choose “Install Microsoft Windows Network” and
click on “OK.”
5Click on “Drivers” then on “Add Adapter.”
6With “Unlisted or Updated Network Adapter”, click on “OK.”
7Insert the IBM Token-Ring PCI WOL drivers CD, set the path to “D:\”
(Where “D” is the drive letter assigned to your CD-ROM) and click “OK.”
(If you have an HP preloaded HDD, set the path to “C:\MASTERS\LAN
\TRPCI.WOL\”)
8Select “IBM PCI Token-Ring Adapter, NDIS2/3” and click on “OK.”

9Verify that “IBM PCI Token-Ring Adapter, NDIS2/3” is listed under
“Network Drivers” and click on “Close.”
10 Click on “OK” in the “Network Setup” window.
11 Specify your User Name, Workgroup Name, Computer Name, and click on
“OK.”
12 After files copy, click on “OK” to approve the modification of your
CONFIG.SYS, AUTOEXEC.BAT, and SYSTEM.INI files.
13 Click on “Restart Computer” to complete the installation.

1With the HP Vectra turned off, install the IBM 16/4 PCI TR adapter card
into a PCI slot.
2Power on the machine and boot to Windows NT 3.51.
3After Windows loads, open the “MAIN” program group , and double-click
on “Control Panel” Icon.
4Select the “Network” icon in the “Control Panel” program group.
5Click on “YES” in the “Network Settings“ dialog box, and NT Networking
will be installed on your computer.
6Insert the Windows NT Workstation CD.
7In the “Windows NT Setup” enter the path to your NT files, and click on
the “Continue” button.
(If you have an HP preloaded HDD, set path to “C:\I386”)
8Click on the “Do Not Detect” button from the “Network Adapter Card
Detection” dialog box, and click on “Continue” in the second “Network
Adapter Card Detection” dialog box.
9From the “Drop Down List”, scroll down and select “<Other> Requires
VL8 VE7/VE8

10 Set the path to “D:\NT” (Where “D:\” represents the drive letter assigned
to the CD-ROM) in the “Insert Disk” dialog box, and then insert the IBM
Token-Ring 16/4 PCI adapter and drivers CD. (If you have an HP
preloaded HDD, set path to “C:\Masters\LanDrv \DISK4\NT\”)
11 Click “OK” at the “Install Driver” dialog box.
12 Select “IBM PCI Token-Ring Adapter” in the “Select OEM Option” dialog
box, and click “OK”.
13 Click on the “OK” button in the “IBM PCI Token-Ring Adapter” dialog box.
14 Choose the default Protocol TCP/IP, and any additional Network
Protocols by clicking the check boxes in the “Windows NT Setup” dialog
box, and click “Continue.”
(If you do not have the required information, contact your network
administrator)
15 Check the boxes to add additional TCP/IP components, and click on the
“Continue” button.
16 Click “OK” for the review of network settings, or “Network Settings”
dialog box.
17 Set your IP address information in the “TCP/IP Configuration” dialog box,
and click “OK”.
(If you do not have the required TCP/IP settings, contact your network
administrator.)
18 At the “Domain/Workgroup Settings” dialog box, click on “OK” to accept
the default “Workgroup” as your workgroup name.
(If you do not have the required information, contact your network
administrator.)
19 To complete the installation, remove the floppy disk, and click on “Restart
Computer” in the “Windows NT Workstation Networking Setup” dialog
box.

Procedure
1With the HP Vectra turned off, install the IBM 16/4 PCI TR adapter card into a PCI
slot.
2Power on the machine and boot to Windows NT Workstation 4.0.
3Click on “Start”, up to “Settings”, and open “Control Panel.”
4Double-click the “Network” icon in the “Control Panel” program group.
5Click on “YES” in the “Network Settings“ dialog box, and NT Networking
will be installed on your computer.
6With “Wired to the Network” checked, click on “Next.”
7Click on “Select from List”, then click “Have Disk.”
8Insert the IBM PCI Token-Ring Drivers CD, set the path to “D:\NT”
(Where “D:\” represents the drive letter assigned to your CD-ROM) in the
“Insert Disk” dialog box, and then click on “OK.”

\IBMWOL\NT\”)
9Select “IBM PCI Token-Ring Adapter” in the “Select OEM Option” dialog
box, and click “OK”.
10 With “IBM PCI Token-Ring Adapter” listed, click on “Next.”

11 Choose the default Protocol TCP/IP, and any additional Network Protocols by
clicking the check boxes in the “Network Protocols” dialog box, and click “Next.”
(If you do not have the required information, contact your network
administrator.)
12 Click “OK” for the review of network services, and click on “Next.”
13 Click on “Next” to install the selected components.
14 Insert the Windows NT Workstation CD.
15 In the “Windows NT Setup” enter the path to your NT files, and click on
the “Continue” button.
(If you have an HP preloaded HDD, set path to “C:\I386”)
16 Click on the “OK” button in the “IBM PCI Token-Ring Adapter” dialog box.
17 Click accordingly if you plan on using DHCP or if you plan on specifying
your IP address manually.
18 Specify your IP information or click on “Obtain an IP address from a DHCP
server” and click “OK.”
19 At the “Show Bindings for” window, click on “Next.”
20 Click on “Next” to start the network.
21 Specify your “Domain/Workgroup Settings”, and click on “Next.”
(If you do not have the required information, contact your network
administrator.)
22 Verify that “Networking has been installed on this computer” and click on
“Finish.”
23 To complete the installation, remove the floppy disk, and click on “Yes” to
restart your computer.
