1Introduction
Huddle Hub™ product family is the answer to the needs of modern teamwork, which is increasingly based
on content presentation and video conference. Thanks to Huddle Hub, these activities can be performed
everywhere in your organization without the need of dedicated huddle rooms, large displays, webcams or
other devices.
In fact, Huddle Hub gives you access to a new and unprecedented collaboration mode. By using Huddle
Hub, you can make your presentations and share your documents from the screen of your PC (desktop
or laptop) directly to the screen of other devices (desktop PCs and laptops, tablets or smartphones), with
no need for a specifically equipped place. Additionally, the camera streams of your devices can be
collectively combined into a Multicam single feed to be used during videoconferences.
The result is that every place in your company / organization can be used as a Virtual Huddle Room.
The Huddle Hub solution is made of two components:
•The Huddle Hub unit, currently available in two versions: Huddle Hub One (HHO) and Huddle Hub
One+ (HHO+);
•The Huddle Hub App (HHApp), a companion software available for Windows, MacOS, iOS and
Android devices.
Given that HHO+ includes all the functionalities of HHO, when this guide refers to HHO it means HHO or
HHO+. HHO+ specific features will be highlighted with the HHO+ only marker.
The following guide will show you how to get the best from your Huddle Hub App. Please see the Huddle
Hub One Configuration Guide to understand how your HHO / HHO+ can be configured to better suit your
needs.

3Installing, uninstalling and updating Apps
3.1 Desktop Apps
To participate in a Huddle Hub session, you must have the Huddle Hub App or the Portable Huddle Hub
App installed on your computer. They are available for download at the following address:
https://www.hrt.website/app/
Alternatively, you can reach the download page by scanning the following QR code:
Once you have downloaded the installer file double click to start the installation process.
The installer will copy the Huddle Hub App in your default applications folder.
Warning MacOS only: In order to complete the installation, you must be logged in to your computer
with administrator rights. You will be prompted to perform Keyboard Shortcuts Enabling in the
"Privacy" section of the "Security and Privacy" System Preferences.
3.1.1 Installing the Portable App on a USB dongle
Warning: Available for MS Windows users. This limitation will be removed in future versions.
If you are not logged in to your PC with administration rights, you will not be able to run the Huddle Hub
App installer. In this case, you can use the Portable Huddle Hub App (available in the download area of
the HRT website), that can be executed directly from an external storage device such as a USB dongle.
The Portable Huddle Hub App has all the features of the standard Huddle Hub App, but it doesn’t
support Multicam feed feature, because it requires the installation of a virtual driver, which is necessary
to direct the Multicam feed to the videoconference software as if it was a webcam.
1. Download the Portable Huddle Hub App on your computer.
2. Insert in a USB port of your computer a USB dongle with a minimum free capacity of 50MB.
3. Copy the Portable Huddle Hub App file to the USB dongle.
The Portable Huddle Hub App is now ready: select it on the USB dongle and launch it with a double click.

4Huddle Hub sessions
For our purposes, a session is the sitting together of a group of people connected to HHO with their
devices in order to make a presentation or a videoconference. The session starts when the first participant
connects to HHO, and ends when the last participants closes his connection.

Page 7
4.1 Roles in a session
During a Huddle Hub session, we identify the following roles:
•Participant (Desktop and Mobile Apps): anyone who is connected to the session.
•Presenter (Desktop Apps Only): the participant who is currently sending his/her screen to the other
participants. Presenter activates the Multicam feed feature –in order to start a videoconference
–he becomes the host. During the videoconference, his computer is the one connected to remote
room through the cloud videoconference software of his choice.
•Viewer (Desktop and Mobile Apps): any participant who is receiving the presenter’s screen. When
Multicam feed is active, the viewer continues to receive the presenter’s screen, at the same time
his webcam stream is sent to the Huddle Hub unit to be combined to the other streams.
Users of the current release of the mobile version of Huddle Hub App cannot assume the role of
presenter. They can, however, receive the presentation (role of viewer) and send their camera
stream to the Multicam feed.
4.2 Number of simultaneous sessions and participants
Each Huddle Hub unit allows one teamwork session to take place at any time.
Up to six devices (laptops, tablets and smartphones) can participate in a Huddle Hub session.
If you want to allow multiple simultaneous sessions within your company, you can install more
Huddle Hub units within the same network (clustered configuration).
4.3 Passcode protection
The privacy of your session is protected by a Passcode. This is a 4 digits random number, generated when
the session starts.
The Passcode appears only in the black connection bar of the HHApp of the user that starts the session,
or of the users that later have successfully joined the same session.
People not invited to the session that, on purpose or by accident, try to connect to the same HHO unit,
cannot join the session because they do not have the Passcode.
In fact, whenever you want to connect to an in-progress session, you will be required to type the Passcode,
which you will receive by one of the participants already joined that session.
To join the session, just type the Passcode and click the Connect button.

Page 8
4.3.1 Disabling the Passcode protection
Passcode protection is active by default, but can be disabled (see the Configuration Guide).
Warning: If Passcode protection is disabled, users connected to your LAN could join your session
by selecting the same hub in their Huddle Hub App and view the presented screen.
4.4 Reaching a Huddle Hub unit
To start a Huddle Hub teamwork session, the participants’ devices need to be configured so that they can
reach the HHO unit. This connection can be achieved through the company local network or through the
HHO+ embedded access point (HHO+ only).
4.4.1 LAN connection
The task of installing and configuring HHO to make it visible to all users on the LAN is your Network
Administrator’s responsibility. Under this configuration, your device will be able to access HHO through
the standard network configurations you already use to access the LAN, and you will see a list of all the
active HHOs currently connected to the network.
Warning: Although HHO and devices are properly configured to access the same LAN, you may
still not be able to locate the hub in automatic mode. If this happens, contact your network
administrator or consult the Configuration Guide.
4.4.2 Embedded Access Point connection (HHO+ only)
You can directly connect to your HHO+, provided that it has been switched on and that you are in the
range of its embedded Wi-Fi access point.
To do so, on your device select the Wi-Fi name (SSID) of the HHO+ you want to connect to (default is
“HuddleHubOne”).
Under this configuration, you can reach only the HHO+ unit you are directly connected to.
4.4.3 Mixed connection (HHO+ only)
If HHO+ is accessible both via the local area network and directly via its access point, it will be possible
to participate in the same session with devices connected, either, through one or the other of the
networks.

Page 9
4.4.4 Discovering and selecting the Huddle Hub unit to connect to
Automatic Discovery
If HHO and your device have been properly configured, at its start HHApp will show the list of the available
Huddle Hub units.
This list is compiled and submitted to you through a network discovery service. When the service is
enabled (and allowed by local network configurations), HHApp can automatically search for HHO units
on the network.
Warning: If your HHO has been properly configured, but does not appear on the list, please use the
Discovery by IP function described below.
Discovery by IP
Although HHO and your device have been properly configured to access the same network, it may happen
that your device is not able to automatically locate the hub.
In that case, the black connection bar of your HHApp will show “No hub found” as in the following figure:
In this case you will need to click on the magnifying glass icon, type the IP of your HHO in the Discovery
by IP window and click the Discover button.
If the address is correct, the name of the hub will appear in the center of the window, and then you can
click the Connect button to create the connection.
Warning: When connected directly to a HHO+ through Wi-Fi access point, you still may be able to
reach other HHOs. This is made possible by a specific HHO configuration, when the Wi-Fi network
interface Share mode is set to ”Routing + NAT” and the "Lan access to session only participants"
flag is unchecked. Connecting to HHO via another HHO+ access point is not recommended.
How to know the IP of your HHO
When HHO is connected to the company LAN, its IP is either dynamically assigned by the DHCP server of
the network or statically assigned during configuration. Please contact your Network Administrator to get
the IP address of the HHO unit you want to connect to.
HHO+ only: if the unit is connected to a TV or a monitor, you can read its IP address on the welcome
screen.

Page 10
4.5 Welcome screen (HHO+ only)
In case your HHO+ is connected to a display through its TV port, in the welcome screen shown on the
display itself you will find instructions about downloading the Huddle Hub App and about configuring the
session.
After starting the presentation, the welcome screen will be replaced by the copy of the presenter’s screen.
5Attending a session with a Desktop App
Start your HHApp from the icon you can find in your default applications folder.
The app will position itself in your Status Menu (upper right area of your desktop) on MacOS and in tray
bar on MS Windows:
MacOS
MS Window
After that, it will remain idle until you click on its nine dots icon to open its menu, and select one of the
available actions to send commands to one of the available Huddle Hub units or to the Huddle Hub App.
MacOS
MS Windows
Hint: to be promptly available when you need it, Huddle Hub App will be automatically launched at
computer boot. You can change this behavior by unticking the specific checkbox in the Settings
menu.
The icon on the right of the hub name informs you of the status of the unit. A white icon means that the
hub is available, with no session in progress (no participants have connected to it yet):
A black icon means that a session has already been started on that hub (there is at least one connected
device), and the session is still open (the number of participants has not reached the maximum yet):

Page 11
When the session on a HHO unit reaches the maximum number of participants (6), that unit will be
removed from the list.
Warning: If your HHO has been properly configured, but does not appear on the list, please use the
Discovery by IP function described below.
5.1 Starting or joining a session
The session starts as soon as the first participant connects to the selected hub. The HHO unit will change
color in the list of the available hubs, becoming black to represent the fact that it is busy.
Other participants may join the same session (up to six). If the session is Passcode protected ask the
participant that started it to tell you the Passcode.
Your Huddle Hub App icon, in the Status Menu, will change color to remind you that you are connected to
a Huddle Hub session (4 of the 9 points will become pale blue):
5.2 Leaving a session
You can leave a session at any time, simply by clicking the white cross next to the name of the hub in the
black connection bar of the HHApp:
If you are the only remaining participant of the session, Huddle Hub automatically closes the session and
returns available for new sessions.
When you leave a session, the HHApp will not close itself, rather remaining available for new teamwork
sessions.
5.3 Quitting Huddle Hub App
If you want to stop Huddle Hub App, click on the three-dots icon of the app and select the Quit menu item.
5.4 Presenting
Once the session has been started, content presentation can begin.
Presentation consists of capturing the screen of the one participant and sending it to all the other
participants in the session. The participant who send his/her screen is called Presenter, and the other
participants are called Viewers.
When one participant takes the role of Presenter, all the other participants become Viewers, and their
devices automatically open a window showing the Presenter’s screen (presenter window).

Page 12
Huddle Hub One+ with connected TV
HHO+ only: Huddle Hub One+ with connected TV if your session is hosted by a Huddle Hub One+ unit,
which is also connected to a display through its TV port, the Presenter window will not open automatically,
but if you want to follow the presentation on your device also you have to open it using the Open presenter
window menu item.
5.4.1 Presenter window
The presenter window contains the screen sent by the Presenter. It can be resized or closed using the
buttons on the top bar.
If closed, you can reopen the it by using the Open presenter window menu item.
The Presenter window can be magnified and sent full screen. For this reason, the main presentation
controls are available by right-clicking the mouse at any point in the Presenter window itself.
5.4.2 Becoming Presenter
By default, at session start the presenter role is not assigned (you can change this behavior, see Settings)
The participant who first selects the Present menu item becomes the Presenter.
MacOS
MS Windows
When a participant becomes Presenter, the four colored dots of the HHApp icon in the Status Menu turn
from pale blue to red:

Page 13
MacOS
MS Windows
As in a normal and fluid working conversation –that is, without the need for permission requests and
their acceptance –one of the participants can at any time assume the role of Presenter. When this
happens, the previous Presenter returns to the role of Viewer, and his computer opens the Presenter
window that shows the new Presenter’s screen.
5.4.3 Pause, stop, lock
The presentation can be paused or stopped using the corresponding items in the HHApp menu.
The Pause command stops presentation and leaves the presenter window showing with the last frame
sent, plus superimposed graphic and textual indications of the pause status. The Presenter can restart
presentation at any time by using the Resume command
The Stop command stops the presentation and cancels the participant's Presenter status, leaving the
session with no Presenter.
By using the Lock command during a presentation, you can prevent other participants from taking the
role of Presenter, until you Unlock it again (or until you leave the session).
5.4.4 Overlay
Pointer
While you’re in the Presenter role, you can show your mouse cursor to the Viewers by selecting the Overlay
submenu items Arrow pointer or Laser pointer.
Presenter info
From the Overlay menu, you can activate the Presenter info item to make HHO include your name in the
display overlay on the screen. You can select the identifier you want to show by typing it in the My name
field of the Settings window (the default is the name of your computer).
Your name will be included in a black area located at the center bottom of the screen and in the caption
of the Presenter window.

Page 14
5.5 Multicam feed
Sometimes teamwork sessions involve people located remotely, and each work group is used to the
collaborative communication tool that prefers and that best suits its needs.
During a presentation session conducted with Huddle Hub, the Presenter can participate in a
videoconference (using the software that he prefers) and send to the Viewers the image of the remote
participants that he receives on his screen.
Additionally, the Presenter can activate the Multicam feed feature, that makes HHO capture videos from
the all participants’ webcams, compose a single stream from them, and send it to the selected video
conference software.
Using this feature, videoconferencing will be more effective, natural, and comfortable, and will not force
participants to shrink to one side of the table to get framed by a webcam or tamper with the remote
control of a PTZ control camera.
Below we will show how to activate and control the multicam feed.
5.5.1 Starting the Multicam feed
Once the presentation has been started, the Presenter’s menu will populate with functions pertaining to
the Multicam feed. It is therefore important to note that only the Presenter will have access to this feature.
The command that starts the feature is Start multicam feed.
The initial behavior of the app depends on the Huddle Hub model you are using and on its usage scenario:
Huddle Hub One or Huddle Hub One+ without connected TV
•All connected devices (including the Presenter) start capturing video streams from their respective
cameras.
•The captured streams are sent to HHO.
•HHO mixes and composes them in a single stream, using the selected layout (see below) and the
qualitative parameters set in the Settings window.
•HHO sends the multicam feed to the Presenter's computer.
•The preview of the Multicam feed is shown in the menu of the Presenter's HHApp.
Huddle Hub One+ with connected TV
•The Presenter’s video stream gets captured from his computer camera.
•The captured stream is sent to HHO.
•HHO sends the multicam feed to the Presenter's computer.
•The preview of the Multicam feed is shown in the menu of the Presenter's HHApp.
Huddle Hub One+ with connected TV and external Webcam
•Only the External Webcam video stream is captured.
•The captured stream is sent to HHO.
•HHO sends the multicam feed to the Presenter's computer.
•The preview of the Multicam feed is shown in the menu of the Presenter's HHApp.

Page 15
At any time, one of the participants can manually start the capture of his webcam with the Start my camera
command and determine the inclusion of his stream in the multicam feed.
5.5.2 Starting the videoconference
Now the Presenter can start his favorite videoconference software, and select the video source
corresponding to the Huddle Hub virtual driver.
Warning: The Huddle Hub virtual driver is recognized by the videoconference software only when
the multicam feed is active.
Now you can start the videoconference session using the usual procedures that your chosen software
requires.
5.5.3 Multicam feed quality settings
The video resolution of the multicam feed produced by HHO and sent to the virtual driver can be changed
in the Settings window.
There are three possible options:
•640x360 (360p)
•960x540 (540p)
•1280x720 (720p)
Warning: Your videoconference software might not compatible with a specific format: if this
happens, try to change the Multicam feed quality settings to find a compatible one.
5.5.4 Device cameras
To be included in a mixed stream, a device that participates a multicam feed session must send the image
from its camera.
In case your device has multiple cameras, you can select the one to capture with the My camera combo
located in the Settings window.
Stop my camera
With the Stop my camera command, each participant can stop sending his device video stream, that will
be excluded from the multicam feed. The video stream can be resumed using Start my camera.

Page 16
5.5.5 External webcam (HHO+ only)
In addition to the cameras of the connected devices, Huddle Hub One+ supports an additional USB
camera directly connected to it. Thus, the resulting multicam feed can contain up to 7 streams, organized
according to your layout preferences.
5.5.6 Multicam feed preview
Starting the multicam feed causes the preview to open in the HHApp menu.
The preview allows the Presenter to check if the participants are correctly framed and, consequently, to
act on the layout before starting the videoconference.
The multicam feed preview can be detached from the menu and displayed in an independent window:
use the Undock multicam preview command available in the pop-up menu that appears when you hover
with the mouse over the preview.
Once separated, the preview window can be moved, but not resized. The preview window is a stay-on-top
window that remains visible until you close it (it will go back in the HHApp menu).
By right-clicking on the preview window, you open the pop-up menu that gives you access to the
management of the multicam feed layout.
5.5.7 Multicam feed layout
The multicam feed layout allows you to decide how the individual video streams get arranged in the
multicam feed output stream.
You can access the layout options by the pop-up menu that appears when you hover with the mouse over
the preview (or right-click in the detached preview window).
Undock multicam feed preview
See above “Multicam feed preview”
Speaker mode
The mixed layout of the multicam feed contain a frame for every connected device. By default, these
frames have the same size.
The Speaker mode allows the participant that is currently speaking, the Speaker, to be more visible than
the other participants, highlighted in a bigger frame. His video will occupy almost the entire surface of the
multicam feed output, while the other frames will be organized in a row/column area called Video gallery.
The Video gallery can be placed in any of the four outer edges of the multicam feed output surface (Top,
Right, Left, Bottom), or totally excluded by the multicam feed (by removing the check from the Video
gallery item).
As for the Presenter role, the Speaker role is activated by the participants themselves, by using the
command Set me as speaker.
HHO+ only: if there is a USB webcam connected, its stream can be placed in the biggest frame as if it was
a Speaker. The Host can achieve this result using the Set webcam as speaker command. The Host can
also prevent other participants from taking the Speaker role away from the external webcam (thus

Page 17
disabling their Set me as speaker option) or exclude the webcam from the output layout using the Exclude
webcam command.
Fill frame
5.5.8 Co-presenter
In order to allow Viewers to share their screen with the remote participants of a videoconference, the
Presenter-Host can create a second presenter, called the Co-presenter.
During a videoconference session, with the multicam feed active, the Presenter can use the Co-presenter
command to invite a Viewer to share his screen: a list will appear, containing the names of the computers
joined to the session (MacOS and Windows only). When the Presenter selects a Viewer from the list, the
latter receives an invitation to share his screen, in form of a dialog box that requires confirmation.
Upon his acceptance, Co-presenter window will open on the Presenter’s desktop. He can then share this
window with the remote participants through the sharing tool of the video conferencing software itself.
5.6 Keyboard shortcuts
Through the Keyboard Shortcuts window, available by the corresponding item in the three-dots menu, you
can modify the keys assigned to some of the commands that control the session.
5.7 Settings
Through the Settings window, available by the corresponding item in the three-dots menu, you can modify
the configuration of the HHApp.
The following list describes the parameters that you can configure:
•My name (text): Identifies the Presenter in the Presenter info and in the Co-presenter selection
menu.
•My camera (selector): Allows choosing which camera of your device has to be sent to the
multicam feed.
•Automatic check for update (checkbox): if checked, at start-up HHApp will check for a more up-to-
date version. If found, the Huddle Hub App download page will be opened in your default browser.
•Launch at start up (checkbox): if checked, HHApp will be automatically launched at every boot of
your computer.
•Maximize presenter window on presentation start (checkbox): if checked, the Presenter window
opens in full screen mode.
•Disable power saving (checkbox): if checked, automatic power saving standby will be disabled
during sessions, because it causes Wi-Fi disconnection (recommended).

Page 18
•Disable system notifications (checkbox): if checked, system notifications will be disabled during
presentation, to prevent them to be visible to the other participants.
•When connecting to an empty hub... (selector): specify the action to perform at the starting of a
new session.
oStand by: enters the session and waits for a command.
oPresent: starts presentation immediately while entering the session.
oPresent and start multicam feed: starts presentation and multicam feed immediately while
entering the session.
•Multicam output quality settings (selector): see Multicam feed quality settings above.
6Attending a session with Mobile Apps
When you attend a session with a mobile app, you’re allowed to take the role of the Viewer only. As a
Viewer, you can receive the presenter’s screen.
6.1 Joining a session
The session starts as soon as the first participant connects to the selected hub.
When a session is started, the hub that runs it appears in the hub list. From that moment on, you can join
the session by clicking on Connect button.
6.2 Leaving a session
You can leave a session just by closing the App.
6.3 Presentation elements
Presenter’s screen
Presentation consists of capturing the Presenter’ screen and sending it to all the other participants in the
session. When one participant (desktop apps only) takes the role of Presenter, you become a Viewer, and
your device automatically opens a window showing the Presenter’s screen (Presenter window).
Pointer
Presenter can show his mouse cursor to the Viewers in the form of an Arrow pointer or Laser pointer.
Presenter info
Presenter can activate the Presenter info to make HHO include his name in the display overlay on the
screen.
Presenter’s name will be included in a black area located at the center bottom of the screen and in the
caption of the Presenter window.
