Get Your Device Ready _
Insert the Battery
1. Remove the back cover on the device by pushing it
upward with your thumb.
2. Align the battery’s contacts with those inside the
battery compartment and gently press down until the
battery is seated.
3. Replace the back cover.
Charge the Battery
1. Plug the USB connectorof the AC adapter into the
charger/accessory jack at the bottom of your device.
2. Plug in the AC adapter to an electrical outlet to start
charging the battery.
Turn the Device On
• Press .
Unlock the Screen
• Press .
Turn off the Display Screen
• Press .
Activate Your Phone
• IfyoupurchasedyourdeviceataSprintStore,itis
probably activated and ready to use.
• Ifyoureceivedyourdeviceinthemail,anditisanew
Sprintaccountoranewphonenumber,yourdeviceis
designed to activate automatically when you first turn
iton.Toconrmyouractivation,makeaphonecall.
• Ifyoureceivedyourdeviceinthemailanditisgoing
to be activated on an existing number (you’re
swappingphones),gotosprint.com/activate and
follow the instructions.
Whenyouhavenished,makeaphonecalltoconrm
your activation. If your device is still not activated or you
donothaveaccesstotheInternet,contactSprint
Customer Service at 1-888-211-4727 for assistance.

Getting Around Your Device _
Move Around Your Device’s Menus and Screens
Tap: When you want to type using
theonscreenkeyboard,select
items such as application and
settingsicons,orpressonscreen
buttons,simplytapthemwithyour
finger. A light touch works best.
Press and hold: To open the
available options foran item (for
example,alinkinaWebpage),
simply press and hold the item.
Swipe or slide: Quickly drag your
finger vertically or horizontally
across the screen.
Drag: Press and hold yourfinger with
some pressure before you start to move it.
Do not release your finger until you have
reached the target position.
Rotate: Automatically change the
screen orientation from portrait
to landscape by turning the
phone sideways.
Flick: Moveyourngerinlighter,
quicker strokes than swiping. This
finger gesture is always used in a
verticalmotion,suchaswhen
flicking through contacts or a
message list.
Pinch: “Pinch” the
screen using your
thumb and forefingerto
zoom out or zoom in
when viewing a picture
or a Web page. (Move
fingers inward to zoom
out and outward to
zoom in.)
Trackball: Press or roll
the trackball to select
or highlight items on
the screen.

Make a Call
1. Ifthescreenislocked,press .

3. Tap the digits of the number you want to call on the
Phone keypad. (The number will appear just above
the keypad as you enter it. Press to delete one
or more digits.)

Making and Answering Calls _
Set Up Your Voicemail
You should set up your voicemail and personal greeting
as soon as your device is activated. Always use a
passcode to protect against unauthorized access.
1. Press to display the Phone screen.
2. Tap and hold on the Phone keypad.
3. Follow the system prompts to create your passcode
and record your name and greeting.
Retrieve Your Voicemail
From your device:
• UsingOneTouchMessageAccess,
tap and hold .
From any other phone:
1. Dial your wireless phone number.
2. Whenyourvoicemailanswers,press*.
3. Enteryour passcode.

Set Up a POP3/IMAP Email Account
1. Press and tap > Mail.
2. OntheChooseamailproviderscreen,tapOther
(POP3/IMAP).
3. Enter the Email address and Password for the email
account and then tap Next.
4. Enter an Account name and Your name and tap
Finish setup.
Check for New Email Messages
1. Press > ,andthentapNotifications.
2. Tap New email to open your email account.
3. Tap an email message to read it.
Email _Messaging _
Send a Text (SMS) Message
1. Press and tap > Messages.
2. OntheAllmessagesscreen,tapCompose message.
3. Enter the phone number of the recipient in the
To: text box.
4. Tap Tap to Compose and then type your message.
5. Whenyouarenished,tapSend.
Send a Picture (MMS) Message
1. Follow steps 1 – 4 above.
2. Press and tap Attach.
3. Tap a media type (Picture,Video,Audio,etc.)and
then tap an available album.
4. Tap a picture or clip to select it and tap Done.
5. Addadditionalpicturesorclips,ifdesired,and
tap Done.
6. Ifyouaresatisedwithyourmessage,tapSend.

HTC Sync™ lets you synchronize Outlook and Windows
Address Book (Outlook Express) contacts and calendar
events on yourcomputer with your device. It also lets you
install third-party Android applications on the device.
Install HTC Sync on Your Computer
1. Press > ,and tap Settings >
Applications > Development.
• ConrmthattheUSB Debugging check box is
selected.Ifnot,taptheboxtoselectit.
2. Confirm that the microSD card is installed on
the device.
• Press > ,andtapSettings >
SD & phone storage.IntheSDcardsection,if
Total spacedisplays“Unavailable,”themicroSD
card is not installed.
3. Connect the device to yourcomputer using the
USB cable provided.
4. Set the device as a USB drive.
• Press > ,andtapNotifications >
USB connected >Mount.
5. Onyourcomputer,copyHTCSync.exe from the
microSD card to your computer’s desktop.
6. Double-click HTCSync.exe on the desktop and then
follow the installation instructions onscreen.
HTC Sync _Syncing with your Computer _
Set Up HTC Sync
1. Run HTC Sync from your computer.
2. Connect the device to yourcomputer using the USB
cable provided.
3. Thersttimeyousynchronizethedevice,the
Synchronization Settings Wizard will launch and help
you set up HTC Sync.
• IftheSynchronizationSettingsWizarddoesn’t
start,clickSynchronize Now.
4. Follow the prompts to select the computer
applications and categories to sync and when to sync
data between your device and your computer.
5. Confirm the settings you have chosen and
click Finish.
Synchronize Items Manually
Regardlessofthesettingsyouchoseinstep4above,you
can always manually sync your device with yourcomputer.
1. Start HTC Sync on your computer.
2. Connect the device to yourcomputer using the
USB cable provided.
3. Click Synchronize Now.
