1 Safety Precautions
Only professional technical personnel designated by Huawei are allowed to install and
operate the product.
Carefully read this document before operating the product. Keep this document for
future use.
To avoid damage, move the product gently.
Before installing the product, get tools insulated, and take off metal articles such as
watches and rings.

2 Product Overview
When a backfeed occurs in normal or bypass mode, the backfeed protection card sends alarm
signals to trip the circuit breaker (provided by the customer). Table 2-1 lists backfeed
protection card configurations.

3 Product Installation
3.1 Unpacking and Checking
After you receive the product, unpack the case and check as follows:
Visually inspect the appearance for shipping damage. If any damage is founded, notify
the carrier immediately.
Check that the fittings comply with the packing list. If some fittings are missing or do
not comply with the packing list, record the information and contact local Huawei office
immediately.
3.2 Tools
Table 3-1 lists the tools for installing the backfeed protection card.

3.3 Installation
The backfeed protection card supports hot swap. You can install it when the UPS is running,
but you must wear insulation gloves.
3.3.1 Cable Connection and Routing Rules
The backfeed protection card uses relay contact signals and it can connect to any power signal
with a voltage of 240 VAC or less and a current of 4 A or less.
Figure 3-1 shows the front view of a backfeed protection card.

The backfeed protection card needs to be powered by the UPS output or a more reliable third-party
power to ensure that the backfeed protection card can isolate faults if backfeed faults occur in battery
mode.

3.3.2 Installation Procedure
Step 1 Remove the cover from the optional card subrack. Figure 3-4 shows the detailed position.

Step 2 Insert the backfeed protection card gently into the slot in a hot swap manner.
Step 3 Close the ejector lever, and tighten the screws.
Step 4 Insert the MFP and BFP cable terminals into the backfeed protection card.

4 MDU Settings
If MUE06A connection is set to Enable and communication between the backfeed protection
card and the UPS fails, a Dry contact board fault alarm will be triggered. The following
describes how to enable the alarm. You can set the parameters either on the LCD or web user
interface (WebUI).
LCD
Step 1 Choose System Info > Settings > Dry Contacts.
If you have not logged in, enter a user name and password (the preset passwords for admin and operator
on the LCD are both 000001), and tap on the login screen displayed.
Step 2 On the Dry Contacts screen, set MUE06A connection to Enable, as shown in Figure 4-1.

WebUI
Step 1 Log in to the WebUI and choose Monitoring > Param. Settings.
The preset passwords for admin and operator on the WebUI are both Changeme.
Step 2 Under Dry Contacts, set MUE06A connection to Enable and click Submit, as shown in
Figure 4-2.

5 Parts Replacement
When the UPS is running normally, both the signals of the MFP and BFP ports are
high-voltage signals. Before replacing the backfeed protection card, power off the backfeed
protection card.
Step 1 On the LCD, choose System Info > Settings > Dry Contacts, and set MUE06A connection
to Disable.
Step 2 Remove the screws that secure the original backfeed protection card and remove the original
card.
Step 3 Insert the new backfeed protection card into the slot in a hot swap manner, close the ejector
lever, and tighten the screws.
Step 4 Remove the MFP and BFP cable terminals from the original backfeed protection card, and
connect them to the new card.
Step 5 On the LCD, choose System Info > Settings > Dry Contacts, and set MUE06A connection
to Enable.
