1. Before installation, read the UPS5000-E-(40 kVA-128 kVA) User Manual (Integrated UPS 2.0)
to get familiar with UPS information and safety precautions.
2. Use insulated tools during installation and operation.
3. Only engineers certified by the manufacturer or its agents are allowed to perform UPS
installation and maintenance. Otherwise, personal injury or equipment damage may occur, and
the resulting UPS faults are beyond the warranty scope.
2Installing the UPS
1. Determine the position for installing the
cabinet. Mark mounting holes based on the
drawings.
2. Use a hammer drill to drill four holes for
installing expansion bolts and then install four
expansion bolts in the holes. Remove the bolt,
spring washer, and flat washer.
Secured Installation
4. If the castors of the UPS need to be lifted from
the ground, perform steps Step 1 to Step 2 in
Non-Secured Installation.
3. Slide the cabinet on its castors to the installation
position.
5. Open the front and rear doors.
6. Insert four M12x115 expansion bolts into the
expansion bolt holes in the floor, and tighten the
expansion bolts.

In the cabinet combination scenario, you
need only to partly tighten the bolts.
NOTE

2. Check whether the bottom of the cabinet is
horizontal by using a level. If the cabinet is not
leveled, adjust the leveling feet.
Non-Secured Installation
1. Lower the four leveling feet at the bottom of the
cabinet by using a wrench until all the four
castors at the bottom hang in the air, the leveling
feet bear the whole cabinet weight, and the
integrated UPS height is 2000 mm.
1. Wrench an anchor bolt clockwise to elevate a cabinet , or wrench an anchor bolt anticlockwise
to lower it. The cabinet feet can be adjusted within a range of 0–8 mm.
2. To prevent cabinet tilting and damage, adjust all the feet at the four corners instead of one foot.
3. Use a measuring tape for measurement when leveling the cabinet to ensure that the height
between the cabinet top and the ground is 2000 + 3 mm.
4. Do not remove anchor bolts. Otherwise, you need to rework them for use.
Installing the UPS on an ESD Floor
Secure the support to the concrete floor using fasteners and ensure the upper surfaces of the
support are at the same level.
Installing a Support
1. Lift the UPS onto the support and align the mounting holes on the UPS with those on the support.
2. Level the UPS by adjusting the anchor bolts, as shown by (1) in the Figure.
Securing the Cabinet
1. Wrench an anchor bolt clockwise to elevate a cabinet , or wrench an anchor bolt anticlockwise
to lower it. The cabinet feet can be adjusted within a range of 0–8 mm.
2. To prevent cabinet tilting, adjust all the feet at the four corners instead of one foot.
3. Check that the vertical distance between the top of the cabinet and the ESD floor is 2000 + 3
mm.
4. Do not remove anchor bolts. Otherwise, you need to rework them for use.

3(Optional) Installing the Tail Frame
1. Use eight M5 tapping screws to secure the tail
frame accessories to the tail frame. 2. Use four M5 tapping screws to secure one
upper sealing plate to the tail frame, as shown
in the following figure.
3. Open the cabinet rear door, and remove the
rear door, hinges, connecting kits, and ground
cable, as shown in the following figure.
4. Move the tail frame to the UPS rear door,
and adjust the anchor bolts of the tail frame
so that the fail frame top is flush with the
cabinet top, and secure it to the UPS using
eight M5 tapping screws, as shown in the
following figure.

5. Install the cabinet rear door and accessories at the corresponding positions on the tail frame.
After installing the cabinet rear door, adjust tail frame anchor bolts and ensure that anchor bolts touch
the floor. Verify that ground cables are properly connected to the cabinet and cabinet rear door.
When connecting the mains input power cable, strip the outer layer of the 5-wire cable, wrap
each wire in the stripped section using corrugated pipes which are available in the fittings
bag, and secure the corrugated pipes using insulation tape to prevent sliding.
4(Optional) Combining Cabinets
1. Open the front and rear doors. Wrench the
anchor bolts using an adjustable wrench to
adjust the cabinet height, as shown in the
figure. Use a level to level the cabinet.

2. Remove the cabinet connecting kits from the
rack, as shown in the figure.
3. Secure the connecting kits in the connection
positions on the front door using screws, as
shown in the figure.

4. Use the same method to secure the connecting kits in the connection positions on the rear door.

5. Repeat the procedure to combine other cabinets.
1. Remove the screw from the supporting kit of the connecting kit to secure the connecting kit.
2. A UPS cabinet in the middle position has four connecting points on each of the front and rear
doors. An end UPS cabinet has two connecting points on each of the front and rear doors.

6. Secure the bolts using a socket wrench.
When combining cabinets, ensure that: all cabinet surfaces are at the same level.

1. Remove the five rodent-proof meshes and cable hole protection panels from the top of the
cabinet, as shown in the following figure.
1. The basic rule for routing cables is: from
inside out and from bottom up.
2. You can drill holes in the removed rodent-
proof mesh as required before reinstalling
them on the cabinet.
3. Connect ground cables to the UPS.

wire should be the same as that of the part of the

2. Open the rear door, and remove the
insulation panels at the rear of the
cabinet.
Grounding for the safety ground of the UPS with the ATS input is the same as that of the UPS with
the MCCB input. Grounding for the safety ground of the UPS with the ATS input is used as an
example. Connect the ground cable to the floor ground bar or grounding busbar.
4. Connect a ground cable to the safety
ground of the UPS cabinet.
Grounding for the UPS with the ATS input is the same
as that for the UPS with the MCCB input. Grounding
for the UPS with the ATS is used as an example.

5. Connect AC input power cables.

terminals 1L1, 1L2, 1L3, 1N and 2L1, 2L2,
2L3, 2N on the UPS cabinet.

Connect AC output power cables in this sequence: customer output power cables, N wires,
and then PE cables.

7. Connect battery cables to positive and negative battery terminals and neutral wires on the UPS
cabinet.
After cable connections, reinstall the
insulation isolation boards removed from
the rear of the cabinet.
•For an air-cooled model, the lighting terminals are QF-L1 to QF-L2. The air conditioner terminals
are 3QF1 to 3QF8 (3QF1 to 3QF4 for a 40 kVA cabinet). The IT terminals are 1QF01 to 1QF24
and 2QF01 to 2QF24 (1QF01 to 1QF24 for a 40 kVA cabinet).
•For a water-cooled model, the lighting terminals are QF-L1 to QF-L2. The air conditioner
terminals are 3QF1 to 3QF24. The IT terminals are 1QF01 to 1QF24 and 2QF01 to 2QF24.
•The number of cables in the figure is only for reference. The actual number of cables depends
on the output load.

8. Route signal cables. Connect one end of the cable to the FE on the integrated UPS, and
connect the other end to any POE port on the smart ETH gateway. Bind cables to the cabinet.
The following figure shows cable routing inside the integrated UPS.

7ATS Commissioning Before System Power-On
•Only trained and qualified electrical engineers are allowed to perform power-on and
commissioning.
•Before power-on and commissioning, verify the installation according to this document and
local safety regulations.
•Before power-on and commissioning, remove metal articles such as watches and bracelets.
During operations, use insulated tools, and do not touch two electric bodies with different
currents.
•During power-on and commissioning, check that the status of the related unit or component
meets requirements before turning on any switch. When you are performing operations, attach
the label "Do not turn on any switch. Operations in progress." to the power distribution device
to prevent others from performing operations.
•During power-on and commissioning, shut down the device immediately if any fault is detected.
Rectify the fault before proceeding with the commissioning.

Commissioning

1. Only electrical professionals are allowed to install and maintain the ATS.
2. The generator can be connected only to power supply 2 (LN 2)-switch II. If the generator is
configured, power supply 2 (LN 2)-switch II cannot be set as the preferred power supply.
3. Do not open any cover of the ATS. Even if the power supply is disconnected, hazardous external
control voltage may still exist inside the product.
4. Do not adjust the control cable when the ATS or external control cable is electrified.
5. Do not replace the fuse (F1) with another model. Only fuses labeled with the same model can be
used as replacements.
6. When the ATS is connected to the electric loop, do not attempt to install or maintain the device.
7. Before performing maintenance tasks, ensure that the power supply to the switch is
disconnected.
1. Before power-on, operate the handle to switch on and off the ATS for one to three times.
Ensure that the primary and secondary contacts of the ATS work smoothly.
2. Before power-on, check that the phase sequence of the two power supplies for the ATS is
correct using a phase sequence meter.

1. Switch on the power switch for the ATS electric operation mechanism (Q1 and Q2 in the lower
left side at the rear of the cabinet) to power the ATS electric operation mechanism.
2. Check whether the controller has alarms. If an alarm exists, rectify the fault first.
View the alarm ID on the controller LCD. If LN 1 and LN 2
power indicators are hollow, there is an alarm. Locate the
fault based on the alarm ID and the alarm ID reference
list on the 8D controller, and rectify the fault.

3. Press the locking latch on the ATS panel,
pull out the handle, and insert it into the slot.
The automatic operation will be disabled after
the handle is inserted into the switch panel.

Perform system commissioning and power-on strictly according to the system manual and ATS
instructions. For any changes in operations and parameters, consult Huawei engineers. Otherwise,
system commissioning or power-on may fail, or even the cabinet is damaged.
5. Modify configurations of the 8D controller.

When the controller is in button mode, do not simultaneously press and hold down the I, II, and O
buttons on the controller panel. Ensure that the interval between two commands is 5s at least. If
another command is issued before the previous one is executed, the protection fuse (F1) under
the electric operation mechanism may be blown.
b. Press Enter and enter the password 0001 to log in to the main menu, then you can modify the
configurations in accordance with the user manual delivered with the ATS.
6. Set the 8D controller to
Auto mode.

8Powering On and Starting the UPS

1. Before you power on the UPS, check that the UPS has passed all check items described in
Section 6 " Verifying the Installation".
2. Measure the voltage and frequency at the UPS external input power distribution switch. The
line voltage range is: 187–264 V AC, and the frequency range is 40–70 Hz.
3. Before you power on the UPS, check that all internal and external switches are OFF (except
that the ready switches for the power module and bypass module are in locked state).
4. Before you power on the UPS, remove the ATS handle and insert it into the ATS handle
installation slot.

Powering On the UPS
8.1
Setting Key Parameters
8.2
1. After you set parameters on the Settings Wizard screen, the Bypass mode and No battery
alarms are displayed on the LCD.
2. The common buttons on the Settings Wizard screen are described as follows: Tap Previous to
return to the upper-level screen. Tap Next to go to the next screen. Tap Cancel to exit the
Settings Wizard screen.
NOTE
Switch on the UPS input circuit breaker Q1.
The UPS works in normal mode and starts
initialization. The LCD displays the Huawei
logo and an initialization progress bar.
Check that the UPS has passed all check
items described in chapter 6 "Verifying the
Installation".

instructions in chapter 7 "ATS Commissioning

•Before powering on the UPS, check that the
ATS is in electric mode (ATS input).
•Before powering on the UPS, check the two
indicators. When the ATS is in manual mode,
check that the switch is in manual mode and
that the UPS work line matches the handle
line.
1. System parameter settings determine normal UPS operation. Note the following:
•Set Single after confirmation. Otherwise, the UPS may not run properly.
•Output voltage level refers to the line voltage level. Set it based on the site requirements.
•Set Output frequency correctly; otherwise, loads may not work properly.
2. Battery parameter settings have great impact on battery maintenance, battery lifespan, and
UPS discharge time. When you set battery parameters, note the following:
•Set Battery capacity after repeated confirmation. An incorrect setting reduces the charging
power.
•A high or low charging power tends to shorten the battery lifespan, or even damages
batteries. If you do not know how to confirm the battery capacity, contact Huawei technical
support.
•Number of cells indicates the number of 2 V DC cells connected to the UPS. Each cell is 2
V. For example, if a battery provides a voltage of 12 V, it is regarded as six cells. If each
battery provides a voltage of 2 V, the number of cells is the same as the number of
batteries. The following table lists examples of setting battery parameters. Number of cells
affects the charge voltage and discharge time. Incorrect setting will cause a high or low
charge voltage, which greatly shortens the battery lifespan. In addition, the UPS may shut
down before the discharging is completed, which may result in data backup failure.

6. After the inverter starts, the UPS works in normal mode. The Bypass mode alarm disappears.
Check that the UPS has transferred to normal mode by viewing the system running status
diagram. During commissioning, check whether the UPS three-phase output voltage and
frequency are normal by viewing AC output on the screen. Use a multimeter to check whether
the three-phase output voltage and frequency are normal. The three-phase output voltage should
be 220 V AC, 230 V AC, or 240 V AC, and the frequency should be 50 Hz or 60 Hz.
7. Check that the actual battery capacity and number of cells are consistent with the settings on the
LCD. (A cell is a 2 V battery. For 12 V batteries, the number of cells equals the number of
batteries multiplied by 6. For 2 V batteries, the number of cells equals the number of batteries.)
Use a multimeter to check that the sum of the absolute voltage of the negative battery string and
the voltage of the positive battery string is greater than a certain value (2 x Number of cells) to
ensure that the battery strings are connected properly.
8. After checking that the battery strings are properly connected, close the battery circuit breaker (if
there are multiple battery strings, close the circuit breaker for each battery string and then the
general circuit breaker between battery strings and the UPS).

9Shutting Down the UPS
After the inverter is shut down, the system transfers to the bypass mode if the system bypass
operates properly or provides no output for loads if the system bypass becomes faulty. Before
you shut down the UPS, ensure that the loads are disconnected to meet any power failure
conditions.
1. On the main screen, tap Common Functions. Tap Inv. OFF.
2. If you have not logged in, enter a user name and password, and tap on the login screen
displayed.
3. In the displayed dialog box, tap Yes to shut down the inverter.

Turn off the UPS output circuit breaker Q3.
Turn off the battery string switch. If there are multiple battery strings,
turn off the general switch between battery strings and the UPS
and then the switch for each battery string.

disconnect the mains from the ATS (ATS input).

Introduction to BSC Connection
In a dual-bus (2N) system, connect BSC cables to the master and slave systems, as shown in the
following figure.
The BSC port is used in a dual-bus system to synchronize output frequencies and phases
between UPS systems, ensuring that two buses can switch with each other.

Setting BSC Mode
1. Set the master BSC system. On the main menu of the LCDs of the UPS, choose System Info >
Settings. Tap Advanced Param. on the Settings screen. On the displayed screen, set BSC
mode to BSC master mode.
2. Set the slave BSC system. On the main menu of the LCDs of the UPS, choose System Info >
Settings. Tap Advanced Param. on the Settings screen. On the displayed screen, set BSC
mode to BSC slave mode.
3. If no alarm is generated after settings, the UPS runs properly.
•The default value of BSC mode is Non-BSC. Set it to BSC mode when the system is a dual-
bus system.
•The dual-bus system consists of one master and one slave BSC system. You can specify one
master and one slave BSC system during initial startup and change the settings under the
guidance of maintenance engineers. Set the master and slave BSC systems to master and
slave BSC modes respectively.
•Ensure that the BSC signal cable between the master and slave BSC systems is properly
connected and that BSC-related hardware is properly installed.
