and your bike that the country in question requires.
Indication & application
Your Vasco has been specially developed for people who need extra support to be
able to cycle safely and securely. This may be because you like to experience more
stability or because of, for example, a neuromuscular disorder that can affect your
coordination or natural movement possibilities. The Vasco has been developed to
be used on normal public roads and cycle paths.

ADVICE FROM TONNIE Write down the frame and key number of your
Vasco below. The number is important for guarantees, repairs or in case your
bike is stolen to report to your insurance company. The number can be found
just above the bottom bracket on the back of the seat post on the frame tube.

•The warranty and product liability in general can be voided if instructions in this
manual have not been followed. This is the case if maintenance work, technical
alterations, or additions to the bicycle have been carried out with non-original
Huka parts without Huka's permission. It also means that the CE-marking has
expired. The lack of a CE-declaration can lead to problems with the insurance of
the bicycle and with possible damage or liability.

First bike ride on the Vasco
The time has come. Your first experience on your own Vasco! Whatever bike ride
you do, your safety comes first! If it is your first time cycling on a Huka tricycle,
you may have to get used to it. The most important tip we can give you is that
you have to relax as much as possible while cycling. To make sure everything
goes as smooth as possible, we give you some instructions.
Safe on the road
Apart from your agility on the Vasco, which will improve as you use it, it is
important that your bike is in optimum condition when you take it out on
the road. We recommend that you take the following aspects into account:
•Before each use, check the condition and function of the brakes, tyres, rims
and steering system.
•Bear in mind that the braking characteristics change and the braking
distance may increase if the road surface is slippery.
•Make sure that any luggage is securely fastened and cannot move.
•Ride on flat and firm surfaces and avoid deep potholes, high thresholds and
puddles of water.
•Ride at an appropriate speed on wet or slippery surfaces, slopes or
precipices. When starting off on a steep slope, lean forward if necessary to
prevent the front wheel from lifting. When reversing on a slope, brake
carefully until you stop.
•Descend a slope at a moderate speed so that you can always come to a
stop in time and safely.
•Always lock your bike when parking it (with a cable lock if desired). Use the
parking brake to avoid the risk of driving off.
ADVICE FROM TONNIE Make sure that the handlebars and saddle are
properly adjusted before you start cycling. This way, you can assume the
correct posture on the bike.

11
ADVICE FROM TONNIE When changing gears, make sure you stop
pedalling and select the desired gear. Do not continue pedalling when
changing gears. This can damage the gearshift mechanism. Damage to the
gear hub as a result of abuse is not covered by the warranty.
Boarding and cycling
Always use the parking brake when getting on or off the bike so that the bike
remains stationary. Put it in first gear (if important) so that you can pedal more
easily. As soon as you sit down and want to ride, release the parking brake.
•When you get on, lift your foot to the other side so that your feet are on
either side of the bike. Then put your strongest leg on the lowest pedal
and sit on the saddle.
•Stay upright at all times and keep your feet on the pedals. Even when you
brake or stand still.
•The Vasco is largely made of aluminium, which is considered non-
flammable. The other materials used, such as plastic, rubber and so
on, are not fireproof.
•Wear a suitable bicycle helmet and reflective clothing to increase
visibility on the road.
ADVICE FROM TONNIE When cycling, steer with your arms and not
with your body. Cycling into corners takes some getting used to. In order
to maintain stability, lean your body slightly towards the inside of the
bend. Adjust your speed accordingly. Avoid sudden and violent steering
movements. In this way, you can avoid accidents and damage.
The parking brake is activated by squeezing the brake lever
on the right and pressing the button (see picture).
To release the parking brake, squeeze the brake lever
slightly. The button then automatically releases from its
lock. The bike is now ready to use.

12
Brakes
Handlebar brakes: braking is done by squeezing both brake levers on the
handlebar. The left hand brake operates the front wheel brake. The right hand
brake operates the brakes on both rear wheels. When cornering, it is best to use
the right-hand brake. Practise braking in a large enclosed area before you hit the
road. You will then become familiar with the system.
Be careful with the front brake when cornering. Using only the front
brake in a corner can cause instability of the bike.
Always use the parking brake when getting on or off the bike. This
prevents the bicycle from rolling away. This reduces the risk of falling.
Pedal assisted bicycle
Your Vasco is equipped with pedal assistance. The electric motor is activated as
soon as you start pedalling. Pedalling then becomes lighter. If you stop pedalling,
the pedalling assistance stops too.
•The pedal assistance is switched on by pressing the on/off button
for 3 seconds.
•You can set the support at 5 different levels by using the arrow
keys on the handlebar.
•To switch off the pedal assistance, press and hold the on/off
button for 3 seconds.
With pedal assistance & walking aid
The walking aid is meant to get you going more easily
from a standstill. By pressing and holding the '-' button,
you activate the pedal assistance and the motor will
drive up to 6 km/h without you having to pedal along.
When you release the arrow button, the motor will stop
driving immediately.

13
Moving and carrying the bicycle
To move or carry the bike, you can grab it by the carrier at the back and by the
head tube at the front. We recommend that at least two people should be used
to lift the bike. When lifting, also hold the handlebars to prevent the front
wheel and handlebars from turning and possibly causing injury.
Battery indication
The display shows how full the battery is. Check that
the battery is full when you travel (longer) distances.
The black block gets shorter as the battery gets empty.
When the block is completely black, the battery is full. Accu indicatie display
Exposure to bright sunlight can make various materials very hot.
The product contains moving parts. These include the steering
wheel, wheels, etc. Be alert to the danger of crushing.
Vigilance is recommended when using electrical equipment such
as a mobile phone when the electric drive is on.
A detailed explanation of the pedal assistance can be found in the Ananda
manual provided.

Product description
Your Vasco consists of various parts. The most important parts are described in
this chapter.
Bicycle frame
The frame of the Vasco consists of an aluminium tube construction complemented
by steel and stainless steel components. Most of the metal parts have been given
an impact-resistant powder coating. This construction and finish guarantee years of
cycling pleasure.
Drive
The Vasco has its own specially designed drive system on the rear wheels. This
drive (by means of a differential) ensures that the bicycle does not twist and that
bends can be taken easily. The
differential means that both
wheels are driven independently
of each other. The bike goes
straight ahead and turns more
easily.
Wheels & tyres
The wheels are equipped with quality hubs, stainless steel spokes and an
aluminium rim. A-quality tyres are mounted on these rims. These provide
good grip, low rolling resistance and less wear.
ADVICE FROM TONNIE Regularly check tyre pressure and tyre wear to
ensure safe cycling. Tyre pressure and tyre wear has a major influence on
how your bicycle behaves.

15
TIP
ADVICE FROM TONNIE Brakes can wear out over time and are very
important for safety while cycling. That is why you should have your
brakes checked regularly and, if necessary, adjusted or replaced. Your
Huka dealer can help you with this.
Spokes
A correct tension of the spokes ensures a stable tricycle. Because of the effect of
the new spokes the wheels of your Vasco should be checked after 200 km or 2
months. 200 km or 2 months. Your Huka dealer can take care of that. Should a
spoke break or come loose, consult your Huka dealer as well.
Chainglider & chain
The chainglider is specially designed for bicycles and made of impact-resistant
plastic. This chainglider protects the chain from dirt and water and also makes
sure that the chain cannot dirty your legs or clothes. With a good chain tension
your Vasco will pedal lightly and you will not hear the chain. If you notice that the
chain is too slack, have it adjusted by your Huka dealer.
Brakes
The Vasco has a rim brake as a front brake. Next to that the hydraulic disk brake
operates the rear wheels. Your Huka also has a parking brake that you use when
getting on and off the bike.
Your Vasco has a parking brake. Always ensure that this is activated
when getting on or off the bike. This prevents the bicycle from
rolling away.

16
Bottom bracket, crankset & pedals
Gears
Your Vasco is equipped with an 8-speed hub of Shimano type Nexus that is tuned
for the Vasco. When you take delivery of your Vasco, your Huka dealer will have
checked and set the gears correctly. You will find an explanation of the gear hub
in the Shimano manual.
Adjusting the gear hub is very specialist work. This should only
be done by a Huka dealer.
Saddle
The saddle is adjustable in height, depth and angle. It is very important to adjust
the saddle correctly in order to cycle efficiently, comfortably and safely. A
different saddle model is optional.
Handlebar
The handlebars of the bicycle can be made of steel or aluminium. This depends on
the model of the handlebar chosen. The handlebar is always adjustable in height.
With some handlebar models, the angle and depth are also adjustable.
•The bottom bracket bearings that Huka uses are completely
maintenance-free and cannot be adjusted. If the bearing does get loose,
go to your Huka dealer immediately. If there is play between the crank
and the bottom bracket, take off the dust cap and tighten the underlying
bolt with a socket spanner.
•Most pedals are maintenance free. If the play is too large, consult your
Huka dealer. When assembling the pedals yourself, pay attention to the
indications L (left) and R (right) on the pedal axles. The left pedal you
turn counter-clockwise. You tighten the right pedal clockwise. To do this,
use a socket spanner or a special (narrow) pedal spanner.
•Various (modified) pedals are available as an option.

17
The saddle and handlebars should always be tightened securely.
Check this regularly. A loose saddle and/or handlebar can create an
unsafe situation.
Mudguards
The mudguards are made of impact-resistant plastic and are fully coloured.
Splashing water is stopped, so that the clothing does not splash under.
Lighting
The front and rear lights are connected to the electric drive and do not contain
separate batteries. Switching on and off is done with the lighting button.
Carrier
The carrier is made of aluminium. There are several possibilities to carry the
luggage. Ask your Huka dealer about this, so that the right materials can be used
and the whole thing can be assembled safely. With the Vasco, the battery-pack is
mounted under the carrier.
If you use the luggage carrier, distribute the luggage as well as
possible. The maximum load for this is 25 kg. Total max. load Vasco: 110
kg user + 25 kg luggage = 135 kg.
Always ensure that the lights and reflectors are clearly visible. The
luggage must also be properly secured. Luggage that is not properly
secured can be dangerous in participating traffic. Straps or belts should be
properly secured to prevent them from getting into the wheel.

18
Electric pedal assistance
The Vasco is equipped with electric pedal assistance as standard. The central
motor is mounted on the frame, including a battery pack. There is also a clear
display with controls mounted on the handlebar.
Pass Vario pedal assistance
With the Pas Vario support, you pedal along and the pedalling is supported by the
electric motor. The degree of support can be adjusted with the control buttons on
the handlebar and can be read on the display. The bicycle is equipped with a 36V
11Ah Li-ion battery mounted under the carrier.
Accessories
Your Vasco can be extended with various accessories. Think of stick holders,
saddles, foot muffs, bags etc. More information can be found on the price list on
our website or contact your Huka dealer.

Optimal use
When you deliver your new Huka, the parts have been adjusted to your body
and to your wishes. To make sure you are comfortable, there are adjustment
possibilities for the saddle and the handlebars.
Setting the saddle height
1. Pull back the quick release lever.
2. Pull or push the saddle to the desired height. The
The seat pillar must extend at least 6 cm into the frame, The safety
marking ''MIN'' should not be visible.
3. Push the lever forward as far as possible to lock the saddle.
ADVICE FROM TONNIE A good rule of thumb for saddle adjustment is to
sit on the bike without shoes with the crank in line with the seat tube. With
your heel on the pedal, you should not be able to extend your leg.
Setting the saddle depth
1. Use a size 13 open-end spanner to loosen the seat bolt slightly, so that
the saddle can move.
2. Pull or push the saddle to the desired position.
3. Tighten the seat bolt securely to the specified torque on page 19.
Setting the saddle angle
1. Use a size 13 open-end spanner to loosen the seat bolt slightly, so that
the saddle can rotate.
2. Pull or push the saddle to the desired angle.
3. Tighten the saddle bolt securely to the specified torque on page 19.
