1ProductIntroduction
1.1GeneralInformation
AnAnalogue Telephone Adaptor(ATA)isan analogue-to-digitaladaptorthat allowsyou to
useyourstandardtelephone ortelephonesystem.ATAisdesigned torealizevoice
communication overabroadband IPnetwork.It offershighvoicequalitywithminimal
bandwidthrequirement. Nomatteritcouldaccess tothe publicIPaddress ornot, the
devicehastheadvantageofeasyinstallationinsimpleorcomplexnetworkMultipleIP
phonescanalsobeinstalledinthesamenetworkwithonlyonepublicIPaddress.It
comeswithenriched featuresforbothnetworkand phone applications,suchas
broadband router, DHCP, LANPhone System.
TheHT-822PIPADAPTOR isan all-in-one VoIPintegrated device, whichisdesigned to
beatotalsolution fornetworksprovidingVoIPservices.Itsfunctionsareavailableviaa
regularanalogtelephone. TheHT-822PIPADAPTORhastwoVoIPlinesand onePSTN
port.

a) Connect astandardtouch-tone analogtelephone tothe PHONEport.
b) InsertastandardRJ11telephone cableintothe LINEINportand connectthe other

c) Insert the Ethernet cableintothe LANport ofHT-822PIPADAPTORand connect the
otherend oftheEthernet cabletoan uplinkport (arouteroramodem, etc.)

3.3MakePhoneCalls
3.3.1UsingStar(*)CommandsforPhoneOperations
Refertothe tableinsection 3.1.2fordetailed valuesofthestarcommandsforphone

3.3.1.1Call-waiting/flash
When you aretalkingon thephoneandanothercall comesinon yourphoneextension,a
short tone soundsinyourhandset. Youcan givethe waitingindicationssuchasaccepting
the call, orneglectingthe call.
Note: Thisfunction onlysupport bySIPprotocol.
3.3.1.2Call Hold
Call Holdletsyou putacalleron holdforacertainperiod oftime.Therearetwokindsof
call hold:
a) When you areinthe conversation withaparty,youcan press “*42”on the phone
keypadtoplacethe firstpartyonhold.Youwillhearadialtone.Enteranewphone
numbertomakeanothercall.Afterfinishingthe second call,youcanpress the “*42”
againtoreturntotheformercall on hold.
b) When you aretalkingon the phone and anothercall comesinon yourphone

extension.Totemporarilyputthe presentcalleron holdandanswerthe newincoming
call,press *42 andyouwill holdthecurrentcall.And press *42 again,youwill return

3.3.1.3Call-transfer
IfAand Bareinthe process ofacall,Acan transferA-BcalltoB-Ccall.Therearetwo
kindsoftransfer,whichareattendedtransferand unattended transfer.
a) Attended Transfer
When acall isinprogress and you agree withhim/hertohaveacall transfer,press
“*41”,and when you heardialtone,dialanotherphone numbertoannouncea
transfer. Ifthe thirdpartyagrees,you hangupyourphone.
b) UnattendedTransfer
When acall isinprogress and you agree withhim/hertohaveacall transfer,press
“*41”,and when you heardialtone,dialanotherphone number.When you hearring
tone, just hungupyourphone without aconversation withthe thirdparty.
Note: Thisfunction onlysupport bySIPprotocol.
3.3.1.4Call-forward
Call-forwardisan arrangementwherebyacall comingintoan unanswered orbusyline
will beFORWARDEDtoapredestinated line.ContacttheTelephoneServicesofficefor

Beforeconfiguringthe HT-822PIPADAPTOR,firstyoushouldobtaintheLANorPCIP
address throughvoiceprompt. Followsection 3.1fordetailedinformation togettheLAN
orPCIPAddress.
HT-822PIPADAPTORhasan embedded Web serverthatwillrespond toHTTP
GET/POSTrequests. It alsohasembedded HTMLpagesthat allowuserstoconfigurethe
HT-822PIPADAPTORthroughaWebbrowser.
4.1Access theWebConfiguration Menu
TheHT-822PIPADAPTORHTMLconfiguration menu canbeaccessed viaLANorPC
port:
Withthe LANaccess isenabled, get theLANIPaddress ofthe HT-822PIPADAPTORas
described insection 3.1.1.TheHT-822PIPAdaptor sWebConfiguration pagecan then

EachATAhasaunique serialnumberassigned bythefactorysuchas
HT822POLDTEST09. Thisnumberisimportantforcentralized configuration,technical
support, and warrantyrepair.Thisnumberisprinted intheback ofthe ATAand is
associated withyoursoftwarelicense.Thisfieldisread-only.
B. FirmwareVersion
Firmwareversion referstothe softwareversion ofthe ATAsuchasA38HS-3.11-1,
whichisused toidentifythe softwareversion.
C. HardwareRevision
Thesefieldsshowterminal shardwaretype.
D. PhoneStatus
Thisfieldshowsthe statusofLine sconnection status. Ifthe connectionissuccessful,
thisfielddisplaysLOGIN. OtherwiseshowLOGOUT.
4.2.2NetworkInformation
A.LANPortConfiguration
Thisfieldshowsthe currentIPaddress usedbyLANportsuchas192.168.100.119.
The ATALANportcan beconfigured toobtainitsIPaddress byDHCPorthe IP
address can beset statically, usedmainlywhileusingthe ATAwithaDSLline.
B.PCPortConfiguration
Thisfieldshowsthe currentIPaddress used byPCport. Inthe BridgeMode,the ATA
allowsaPCconnectedtoittopass throughtothe network.NootherPCConfiguration
settingsareset; theAdvanced,Gateway,Primaryand SecondaryDNSfieldsettings
arenot required and canbeignored.
C. PPPoE
Thisfieldshowsthe statusofyourbroadband connection withDial-upnetworkingin
the ATAhasnotbeenenabled.The ATAisdesigned tobeused overthe Internetwitha
broadband connection.
D.DefaultRoute
Default RouteistheIPaddress ofarouterthatisused when adevicesendsapacket
toanothersubnetorwhen adevicesendsapacket toan unknowndestination.
E.DNSServer
Eachzone isserved byatleastone DomainNameServer,whichcontainsthe
completedataforthezone. (Tomakethe DNStolerant ofserverand networkfailures,

4.3ConfigurationsOptions
Click on the “Configurations”,the web pagewillpop-up asubordinateoptions.Clickon
“Preference”inthe left menu ofthe configuration web, and the screen will bedisplayed as
follows:
4.3.1Language
SelectwebprovisioninglanguageasEnglishorChinese.Forexample,ifyourpresent
languageused isEnglish,pleaseclick “English”inthe “Language”menu,When the
terminalwasreboot the webpagewill displayall information inEnglish.

4.3.2TimeZoneandTimeServer
Thisparametercontrolshowthe date/timedisplayed,itwill beadjusted accordingtothe
specified timezone. The ATAusesNetworkTimeProtocol(NTP)toretrievedateandtime
information froman NTPserver(TimeServer).The timeisinGMT ±offset. Forexample,
PacificStandardTimeisGMT-8, and PacificDaylightTimeisGMT-7.
TimeServeristhe NetworkTimeProtocolserverwheretheIPPhoneretrievesdateand
timeinformation.Thisfieldshowsthe NTPserverIPaddress suchas timekeeper.isi.edu.
4.3.3Auto-provision
Allowcentralprovisioning ofHT-822P.Auto-provision isthe automaticconfiguration of
deviceswithoutmanualintervention and withoutanyneedforsoftwareconfiguration
programsorjumpers.Ideally,auto-provision devicesshouldjust"PlugandPlay".
Auto-provision hasbeen made common becauseofthe lowcostof microprocessorsand
otherembedded controllerdevices. It includesAuto-provision Serverand Auto-update.
Thisisthe specialserviceonly. It must support byHyberTonesAuto-provision Server.
4.3.4 RemoteControl
Thisfunction isforremoteloginthe HT-822PsWEB pagetraversethe NAT,younot need
tomakeaDMZorotherPort mappingwhen youwant logintoaremotedevice.
Thisisthe specialserviceonly.It mustsupport byHyberTonesRemoteControlServer.It
