INTRODUCTION
Thank you for selecting the HRC-990-SP-MD an innovative solar power option
for use with the Hydro-Rain(R) HRC-990 controller. The solar module will
effectively power the HRC-990 controller using the natural energy from the
sun....even on cloudy days.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Mounting
The HRC-990-SP-MD sensor includes two mounting options.
1. Rain gutter bracket and wing-nut
2. Flat surface adapter (See figure 1)
Mount the solar module where it will be exposed to direct, unobstructed sunlight
(but away from sprinkler spray).
Hints for wiring and mounting:
A. Because the wire provided with the module is 30’ long. You must install the
solar module within 30’ of the timer.
B. Mount in the highest possible position where it will not be vandalized etc.
Once the solar module is mounted, run the wire and wiring jack to the HRC-990
timer. Plug the jack into the base of the timer marked “Solar Power” (See figure
2). The solar module is now ready for use.
Important: The solar unit is sold and designed for use with the HRC-990 timer
only. Any alteration of this product for use with 24 Volt irrigation timers voids the
warranty.
OPERATION CHECK TO VERIFY CORRECT WIRING
After you have installed the solar module and it has had up to three hours to
gather a charge, remove the batteries. If the HRC-990 continues to run there is
no further installation needed. If it does not operate the controller check the jack
to insure proper installation.
MAINTENANCE
There is no required maintenance for the unit. The solar module does not have
to be removed or covered for winterizing purposes.
WARRANTY
Hydro-Rain®warrants to its customers that its HRC-990-
SP-MD product will be free from defects in materials and
workmanship for a period of three years from the date of
purchase. We will replace, free of charge, the defective part or
parts found to be defective under normal use and service for a
period of up to three years after purchase (proof of purchase
required). We reserve the right to inspect the defective part
prior to replacement. Hydro-Rain®will not be responsible for
consequential or incidental cost or damage caused by the
product failure. Hydro-Rain®liability under this warranty is
limited solely to the replacement or repair of defective parts.
To exercise your warranty, return the unit to your dealer with
a copy of the sales receipt.
