Dear customer,
please note the following information about the compatibility of USBType-C®
enclosures and adapters, including this device!
• Your host computer must have a USBType-C®or a USBType-A interface.
• The IB-1817MC-C31 also works with computers and notebooks with
USB3.0/2.0/1.1Type-A interfaces as long as the appropriate adapter
is used.
• The enclosure also works on devices with a Thunderbolt™3 interface with
the transfer rate of up to 10Gbit/s specified by USB 3.2 Gen 2 .
• The Type-C®interface can be connected to USB3.0 or 2.0 standard in
some notebooks and computers. The enclosure only supplies the full data
transfer rate of up to 10Gbit/s to USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C®interfaces.
• The following operating systems are supported: Windows®, macOS®

External Type-C®enclosure for M.2NVMe SSD with write protection
The external USB3.1Type-C®enclosure IB-1817MC-C31 lets you take an
NVMe or SATA SSD with you quickly and easily. It allows access to M.2 SSDs
of up to 2 TB, no matter which host you connect it to. The IB-1817MC-C31 is
compatible with all M.2 SSDs in lengths of 30, 42, 60 and 80mm, is operating
system independent and suitable for a variety of applications such as high-speed
storage, cloning a drive or running a mobile operating system.
With the IB-1817MC-C31, sensitive data on the installed M.2 SSD can be
protected from changes and can be released again by means of a switch. With
the included, practical mini tool and a small hand movement, the corresponding
switch can be moved to the desired position. Click - Secure.

1. Installation
Important: During the drive assembly all cabling has to be disconnected from
the computer.

2. Remove the PCB.
3. Carefully place your SSD into the
M.2 slot with the connection side and
at an angle of approx. 30° so that it
inserts without resistance. Insert the
round rubber fixation into the semi-cir-
cular recess at the end of the M.2 SSD.

front cover.

4. carefully push the M.2 SSD with the
rubber fixation down until the rubber
fixation fits through the hole of the PCB.
Please make sure to align the fixture to
the PCB hole before pressing the fixture
through the PCB hole.

7. Install the PCB back into the track
inside the housing.
Pay attention to the correct alignment!
8. Reattach the front cover with the two
screws A. When mounting the cover,
make sure that the write protection
switch is placed in the rectangular
recess.
6. Put the heat sink plate on the thermal
pad and align the notch to the fixture.
5. Place the delivered thermal pad
directly on the M.2NVMe SSD.
Note! Change the write-protect setting
before connecting the device to the
computer. *

2. Usage
1. Connect the IB-1817MC-C31 via the delivered cable to the correspon-
ding port of your host computer.
2. When the IB-1817MC-C31 has been plugged in correctly, the LED will
light up white.
3. As soon as the write protection has been activated by switch, the LED
lights up red*.
*Important! A change of the write-protect mode will only be activated
when the device has been disconnected and then reconnected to the host
computer.
3. Application
1. An external SSD can be connected to or disconnected from the com-
puter without shutting down the computer.
2. Please await the end of read/write operations before disconnecting
the SSD to avoid data loss.
3. A new SSD must first be initialized, partitioned and formatted by the
operating system to be displayed by the system.
4. If the drive is not recognised instantly by the operating system, please
check:
- if the driver software is installed (USB)
- if the SSD is initialized, partitioned and formatted.
Info: Drives must be initialized and have active partitions to be immediately
recognised as volumes in the operating system. If this is not the case, initialize
the drives in the volume management of your operating system.
• The external drive can be connected to or disconnected from the com-
puter via USB cable without shutting down the computer.
• Please await the end of read/write operations before disconnecting
the drive to avoid data loss.
The full USB 3.2 Gen 2 transfer rate can only be achieved with a compatible
USB 3.2 Gen 2 host computer. Furthermore, the USB3.1 drivers must be
installed by the operating system. If this is not the case, install the appropriate
drivers for your operating system (Windows®, macOS®).

• Ihr Hostcomputer muss über eine USBType-C®oder USBType-A Schnitt-

• Die IB-1817MC-C31 arbeitet auch mit Notebooks und PCs mit
USB3.0/2.0/1.1Type-A Schnittstellen, sofern der passende Adapter
verwendet wird.
• Das Gehäuse arbeitet auch an Geräten mit der Thunderbolt™3 Schnitt-
stelle mit der von USB 3.2 Gen 2 angegebenen Transferrate von bis zu
10Gbit/s.
• Die Type-C®Schnittstelle kann in einigen Notebooks und PCs mit USB3.0
oder 2.0 angebunden sein. Das Gehäuse liefert nur an USB3.1Type-C®
(Gen2) die volle Datenübertragungsrate von bis zu 10Gbit/s.

Externes USBType-C®Gehäuse für M.2NVMe SSD mit Schreibschutz
Mit dem externen USB3.1 Typ-C®Gehäuse IB-1817MC-C31 können Sie eine
NVMe oder SATA SSD schnell und einfach mitnehmen. Es erlaubt Zugriff auf
M.2 Datenträger von bis zu 2 TB, egal mit welchem Host Sie es verbinden. Die
IB-1817MC-C31 ist kompatibel mit allen M.2 SSDs der Längen 30, 42, 60 und
80mm, betriebssystemunabhängig und für eine Vielzahl von Anwendungen wie
Hochgeschwindigkeitsspeicherung, Klonen eines Laufwerks oder das Ausführen
eines mobilen Betriebssystems geeignet.
Mit der IB-1817MC-C31 können sensible Daten auf der verbauten M.2 SSD per
Schalter vor Veränderungen geschützt und wieder freigegeben werden. Mit dem
mitgelieferten, praktischen Mini-Werkzeug und einer kleinen Handbewegung
lässt sich der dafür zuständige Schalter des IB-1817MC-C31 in die gewünschte

1. Einbau
Wichtig: Während der Installation müssen alle Kabel vom Computer getrennt
sein.

2. Entnehmen Sie die Platine.
1. Entfernen Sie die zwei Schrau-
ben A und öffnen Sie die vordere
Abdeckung.
3. Platzieren Sie Ihre SSD vorsichtig mit
der Anschlussseite und in einem Winkel
von ca. 30° in den M.2 Slot, so dass
sie sich widerstandslos einfügt. Setzen
Sie die runde Gummi-Fixierung in die
halbkreisförmige Aussparung am Ende
der M.2 SSD ein.
4. drücken Sie die M.2 SSD mit der
Gummi-Fixierung vorsichtig nach unten,
bis sich die Gummi-Fixierung durch das
Loch der PCB einpasst.

8. Befestigen Sie wieder die vordere
Abdeckung.
Stellen Sie sicher, dass der Schreib-
schutzschalter in der entsprechenden
Aussparung der Abdeckung platziert ist.
7. Schieben Sie die Platine mitsamt der
SSD vorsichtig bis zum Anschlag in die
Führungsschiene des Gehäuses.
Achten Sie auf die korrekte Ausrichtung!
6. Setzen Sie den mitgelieferten
Kühlkörper auf das Wärmeleitpad und
richten Sie dessen Kerbe auf die M.2
Halterung aus.
5. Bringen Sie das mitgelieferte Wär-
meleitpad direkt auf die eingebaute M.2
SSD an.
Hinweis! Ändern Sie die Schreibschut-
zeinstellung bevor Sie das Gerät an den
Computer anschließen*

2. Verwendung
1. Verbinden Sie die IB-1817MC-C31 mittels des beiliegenden Kabels mit
dem entsprechenden Anschluss Ihres Computers.
2. Wurde die IB-1817MC-C31 richtig eingesteckt, leuchtet die LED weiß auf.
3. Sobald der Schreibschutz per Schalter aktiviert wurde, leuchtet die
LED rot auf*.
*Wichtig! Die Änderung des Schreibschutzmodus erfolgt nur, wenn das
Gerät getrennt und dann wieder mit dem Hostcomputer verbunden wurde.
3. Anwendung
1. Die externe SSD kann im laufenden Betrieb des Rechners angeschlos-
sen oder von diesem getrennt werden.
2. Bitte das Ende von Schreib- und Lesevorgängen abwarten, bevor ein
angeschlossenes Gehäuse vom Rechner getrennt wird, um Datenverlust
zu vermeiden.
3. Eine neue SSD muss vom Betriebssystem erst initialisiert, partitioniert
und formatiert werden, um vom System angezeigt zu werden.
4. Wenn die SSD nicht sofort vom System erkannt wird, bitte prüfen:
- ob die Treibersoftware installiert ist (USB)
- ob die SSD initialisiert, partitioniert und formatiert ist
Info: Laufwerke müssen initialisiert sein und aktive Partitionen besitzen, damit
diese sofort als Datenträger im Betriebssystem erkannt werden. Falls dies nicht
der Fall sein sollte, initialisieren Sie die Laufwerke in der Datenträgerverwal-
tung Ihres Betriebssystems.
• Das externe Laufwerk kann im laufenden Betrieb des Rechners an die-
sen via USB Kabel angeschlossen oder von diesem getrennt werden.
• Bitte das Ende von Schreib- und Lesevorgängen abwarten, bevor ein
angeschlossenes Gehäuse vom Rechner getrennt wird, um Datenverlust
zu vermeiden.
Die volle USB 3.2 Gen 2 Transferrate kann nur mit einem kompatiblen USB
3.2 Gen 2 Hostcomputer erreicht werden. Des Weiteren müssen die USB3.1
Treiber seitens des Betriebssystems installiert sein. Sollte dies nicht der Fall
sein, installieren Sie die passenden Treiber für Ihr Betriebssystem (Windows®,
macOS®).
