• One available x1, x4, x8 or x16 PCI-Express slot. (PCI-Express Gen. 2.1 x1 lanes at least)
Note:
The IB-LAN300-PCI adopts the PCIe Gen 2.1 x1 interface connector design. In order to get the full 2.5
Gigabit performance, please use at least a PCIe slot based on PCI-Express Generation 2.1 x1 lanes
for card installation.
However, some PC systems do not support PCIe Gen 2.1 specification, so that IB-LAN300-PCI cannot
support full-power performances (2.5 Gbit/s). Please double-check your PC system for system detail
information or accept a lower data transfer rate.
Installation:
Important: To avoid damage or malfunction, remove all live cables from the computer before installing
the PCIe card. When installing the PCIe card, be aware of possible electrostatic discharge as this may
cause damage or malfunction. Touch a “grounded” metal object or wear anti-static gloves before
installation.
Attention!
- The PCB is a very sensitive component. Please insert the PCIe card carefully and make sure it is
aligned correctly.
- To avoid cuts to your hands, proceed carefully as there are sharp edges inside the unit.

Follow the instructions below to install the PCI-Express card:
1. Turn off your computer and remove the power plug from the plug socket.
2. Remove the cover from the computer case.
3. Identify an empty PCIe 2.1 x1 slot and remove the associated slot bracket on the back of the
computer by unscrewing it.
4. Gently insert the card into the free PCI-Express slot
5. Secure the card in place by screwing the metal bay screw, which you removed in the previous
step, back into place.

6. Place the cover back on the computer.
7. Insert the power plug into the plug socket and start your computer.
8. Connect a supported network cable (at least Cat.5 or higher depending on the length) to the
RJ45 port of the IB-LAN300-PCI.
9. If the cable is plugged in correctly and the network environment has been set up accordingly
(including driver installation), the corresponding LED on the back of the PCI card will light up
green, indicating connection and activity.
Note!
The full data transfer rate can only be achieved with a compatible 2.5 Gigabit environment.
Furthermore, the IB-LAN300-PCI drivers must be installed by the operating system. If this is not the
case, install the appropriate drivers for your operating system (Windows®/Linux®).
Installation for Windows®
1. Log in to URL http://www.icybox.de
2. Search IB-LAN300-PCI, download driver
3. Follow the prompts to install the driver
Installation for Linux®
1. Log in to URL http://www.icybox.de
2. Search IB-LAN300-PCI, download driver
3. Copy the compressed driver source file into a directory of your choice.
4. Now the driver source files should be unpacked in this directory. Execute the following com-
mand to compile the driver:
# make
5. If the compilation is error-free, the file tn40xx.ko will be created in the current directory.
6. If you want to use the modprobe command to include the driver, run the following command to
install the driver in your kernel:
# make install
Verifying the installation
Verifying for Windows®
1. Click on the “Device Manager” tab in the Windows Control Panel.
Start -> Control Panel -> Device Manager
2. Under “network adapters” in Device Manager, you should see the “Realtek PCIe 2.5GbE Family Controller”.

Verifying for Linux®
1. You can check if the driver is loaded with the following commands:
# lsmod | grep r8xx
# ifconfig –a
If a device name ethX is displayed, the Linux® driver is loaded. Then you can use the follow-
ing command to activate the ethX:
# ifconfig ethX up, with X=0,1,2,…

Hinweis

Einbau:
Hinweis!
Um Schäden oder Fehlfunktionen zu vermeiden, müssen vor der Installation der PCIe Karte alle
stromführenden Kabel am Computer entfernt werden. Beim Einsetzen der PCIe Karte achten Sie auf
mögliche elektrostatische Entladung, da diese zu Schäden oder Fehlfunktionen führen kann. Berühren
Sie vor der Installation ein „geerdetes“ Metallobjekt oder tragen Sie antistatische Handschuhe.
Achtung!
- Die PCB ist eine sehr empfindliche Komponente. Setzen Sie die PCIe Karte bitte vorsichtig ein und
achten Sie auf die richtige Ausrichtung.
- Um Schnittverletzungen an den Händen zu vermeiden, gehen Sie behutsam vor, da im Inneren des
Gerätes scharfe Kanten vorhanden sind.

Bitte befolgen Sie die folgenden Einbauanweisungen:
1. Schalten Sie Ihren Computer und alle angeschlossenen Geräte aus und entfernen Sie das
Stromkabel an der Rückseite Ihres Computers.
2. Entfernen Sie die Gehäuseabdeckung des Computers.
3. Identifizieren Sie einen leeren PCIe 2.1 x1 Steckplatz und entfernen Sie die zugehörige
Slotblende auf der Rückseite des Computers, indem Sie diese abschrauben.
4. Setzen Sie die Karte vorsichtig in den freien PCI-Express Steckplatz ein.
5. Sichern Sie die PCIe Karte, indem Sie die Schraube, die Sie im vorherigen Schritt entfernt
haben, wieder an ihren Platz schrauben.

6. Schließen Sie das Computergehäuse.
7. Verbinden Sie das Stromkabel und starten Sie Ihren Computer neu.
8. Schließen Sie ein unterstütztes Netzwerkkabel (mindestens Cat.5 oder höher, abhängig von
der Kabellänge) an die RJ45 Schnittstelle der IB-LAN300-PCI an.
9. Wenn das Kabel korrekt eingesteckt ist und die Netzwerkumgebung entsprechend eingerichtet
wurde (u.a. Treiberinstallation), leuchtet die entsprechende LED an der Rückseite der PCI-Karte
grün auf und zeigt Verbindung und Aktivität an.
Hinweis
Die volle Übertragungsrate kann nur in einer 2,5 Gigabit Netzwerkumgebung erreicht werden.
Des Weiteren müssen die IB-LAN300-PCI Treiber seitens des Betriebssystems installiert sein. Sollte dies
nicht der Fall sein, installieren Sie die passenden Treiber für Ihr Betriebssystem (Windows®, Linux®).

1. Loggen Sie sich ein bei URL http://www.icybox.de
2. Suchen Sie nach IB-LAN300-PCI, Treiber herunterladen
3. Folgen Sie den Anweisungen zur Installation des Treibers
Installation unter Linux®
1. Loggen Sie sich ein bei URL http://www.icybox.de
2. Suchen Sie nach IB-LAN300-PCI, Treiber herunterladen
3. Kopieren Sie die komprimierte Treiber-Quelldatei in ein von Ihnen bestimmtes Verzeichnis
4. Nun sollten die Treiber-Quelldateien in diesem Verzeichnis entpackt werden. Führen Sie den
folgenden Befehl aus, um den Treiber zu kompilieren:
# make
1. Wenn die Kompilierung fehlerfrei ist, wird die Datei tn40xx.ko im gegenwärtigen Verzeichnis
erstellt.
2. Wenn Sie den modprobe-Befehl zum Einbinden des Treibers verwenden möchten, führen Sie
den folgenden Befehl aus, um den Treiber in Ihrem Kernel zu installieren:
# make install

Überprüfung der Installation
Überprüfung für Windows®
1. Klicken Sie in der Systemsteuerung von Windows® auf die Registerkarte „Geräte-Manager“.
Start -> Systemsteuerung -> Gerätemanager
2. Unter „Netzwerkadapter“ im Gerätemanager sollten Sie den „Realtek PCIe 2.5GbE Family
Controller“ angezeigt bekommen.
Überprüfung für Linux®
1. Sie können mit folgenden Befehlen überprüfen, ob der Treiber geladen wird:
# lsmod | grep r8xx
# ifconfig -a
Wenn ein Gerätename ethX angezeigt wird, ist der Linux® Treiber geladen. Dann können Sie den
folgenden Befehl verwenden, um das ethX zu aktivieren:
# ifconfig ethX up, wobei X=0,1,2,...
