*Decrease the value: Let the display of the parameter value move to the
maximum setting value. Then the cycle starts again at the minimum setting
value.
Select the display unit (Uni) before setting the values for SP1, rP1, ASP, AEP
and COF. This avoids rounding errors generated internally during the conver-
sion of the units and enables exact setting of the values.
Setting at the factory: Uni = °C.
If no button is pressed for 15s during the setting procedure, the unit returns
to the Run mode with unchanged values.

Mode/Enter button until the current
measured value is indicated again.

Check the safe functioning of the unit. The operation is maintenance-
free. Failure indication:
Response of the analogue output:
•Falling below the set measuring range leads to a linear decrease
of the analogue signal up to 3.8mA / 0V.
•Exceeding the set measuring range leads to a linear increase to
20.5mA / 10.3V.
•If the current system temperatur is below or above the evaluable
range of the sensor (T < -60°C or T > +320°C), the output
responds according to the parameter set in FOU2 (→page 26).

Technical information / Functioning / Parameters
Switch-on point: Upper limit value at which the output changes
its switching status.
Switch-off point: Lower limit value at which the output
changes its switching status.
rP1 is always lower than SP1. The unit only accepts values which
are lower than SP1.
Changing the switch-on point also changes the switch-off point
(the hysteresis remains constant).
If the hysteresis is higher than the new switch point, it is
automatically reduced (rP1 is set to the minimum setting value).
Setting range:
Configuration of the switching output

offset against the real measured value.
Delay time for the switching output
dS1 = switch-on delay; dr1 = switch-off delay
The output does not immediately change its switching status
when the switching condition is met but when the delay time
has elapsed. If the switching condition is no longer met when the
delay time has elapsed, the switching state of the output does
not change.
•Setting range: 0 / 0.10 ... 50s in steps of 0.1s

Display unit
The measured value and the values for SP1, rP1, ASP, AEP and
COF can be displayed in the following units:
°C , °F
Select the display unit before setting the values for SP1, rP1,
ASP, AEP and COF. This avoids rounding errors generated inter-
nally during the conversion of the units and enables exact setting
of the values.
Units are delivered from the factory with: Uni =°C
Setting of the display
7 options can be selected:
•d1 = update of the measured value every 50ms
•d2 = update of the measured value every 200ms
•d3 = update of the measured value every 600ms
The update interval only refers to the display. It has no effect on
the outputs.
•rd1, rd2, rd3 = display as d1, d2, d3; rotated 180°
•OFF = In the Run mode the display of the measured value is
deactivated. If one of the buttons is pressed, the current mea-
sured value is displayed for 15s. If the Mode/Enter button is
pressed once again, the Display mode is activated. The switching
status LEDs remain active even if the display is deactivated.
Response of the switching output in case of a fault
(fault or short circuit in the sensor).
2 settings can be selected:
•FOU1 = ON: output switches ON in case of a fault
•FOU1 = OFF: output switches OFF in case of a fault
Response of the analogue output in case of a fault
(fault or short circuit in the sensor).
2 settings can be selected:
•FOU2 = ON: The analogue signal goes to the value 21.0mA /
10.6V.
•FOU2 = OFF: The analogue signal goes to the value 3.5mA /
0V.
Output polarity of the switching output
2 options can be selected:
•PnP = positive switching
•nPn = negative switching

Hysteresis:
The hysteresis keeps the switch-
ing state of the outputs stable if
the system temperature varies
about the preset value.
When the system temperature is
rising, the output switches when
the switch-on point has been
reached (SP1); when the system
temperature is falling again, the
output switches back when the
switch-off point (rP1) has been
reached. The hysteresis can be adjusted: First the switch-on point is
set, then the switch-off point with the requested difference.
Window function:
The window function enables
the monitoring of a defined
acceptable range.
When the system temperature
varies between the switch-on
point (SP1) and the switch-off
point (rP1), the output is
switched (window function/NO)
or not switched (window func-
tion/NC).
The width of the window can be
set by means of the difference between SP1 and rP1. SP1 = upper
value, rP1 = lower value.
Scaling the measuring range (analogue output)
•With the parameter "Lower end of analogue output" (ASP) you can
select the measuring value for which the output signal is 4mA or 0V.
•With the parameter "Upper end of analogue output" (AEP) you can
select the measuring value for which the output signal is 20mA or 10V.
•Minimum distance between ASP and AEP: 50°C / 90°F.
