Installationinstructions
‐Readthroughtheseinstructionswithcarebeforeyoubegintheinstallationprocess.
‐Theelectricalinstallationmustbeperformedbyaqualifiedelectrician.
‐Separateinstructionsforelectricalconnectionscomewiththecontrolunitand/orthe
circuitdiagramsoftheseinstructions.
‐Bewareofsharpedgesandusealong‐sleevedshirtandprotectiveglovesduringthe
installationandwhilepilingthestones.
1. Removetheprotectiveplasticcoveringfromtheheater.
2. Choosetheplacefortheheateraccordingtotherequiredsafetydistances.The
minimumsafetydistancestoinflammablesurfacesforMonolithelectricheater,
measuredfromtheheater'sframeoutwards,are100mmonthesidesandthebackof
theheaterand800mmtotheceiling(Page9).
3. Payattentiontotheventilationofthesaunaroom,theidealplacementforthe
thermostat'ssensorandthecontrolunit.(PAGE7‐8)
4. Liftthesteelframefromtheresistorcasing/stand.
5. Opentheelementboxlocatedattheunderneaththeheaterandconnectthefive‐pole
electriccablethroughthesocketsealtotheterminalblockinsidethebox.(PAGE6)
6. Attachtheotherendofthecabletothecontrolunitandconnectitaccordingtothe
specifiedinstructionsinsidethecontrolunit(controller).
7. Takethecablefromthecontrolunit(controller)eithertothesocketorelectricalmain
center.
8. Testthatalltheheatingelementsfunctionproperlybyswitchingtheheateron.Ifallthe
heatingelementsheatup,youcanclosetheelementboxpanel.(Ifoneormoreofthe
heatingelementsfailstoheatuporanotherproblemoccurssuchasafuseblowingout,
contactthemanufacturer'stechnicalsupport.
9. Placetheheaterinitsplace.Checkthesafetydistancestoflammablematerialsbefore
pilingonthestones.
10. Liftthesteelframeontopoftheresistorcasing/standandstraightentheheaterby
adjustingtheadjustablelegs.
11. PILINGOFTHESTONES:Readseparateinstructions(PAGE10).Incommunallyorpublicly
usedsaunaswerecommendtheuseofceramicKerkesstonesaroundtheheating
elements(www.kerkes.fi).Kerkesstonessupportandhelppreservetheheating
elementsandtheydonotdisintegrateprematurelyduetohightemperaturechanges.
Notethattheuseofsoapstoneandnaturalstonesisallowedonlyontheouteredgesand
onthetopoftheheater.

12. IKI‐KiuasLtd.recommendstheuseofsafetyrailingsaroundtheheater.However,the
stainlesssteelframedoesnotover‐heatthewayordinarysteel‐casedheatersdo.
13. Thesurfaceofthestonessinksinalittleaftertheheaterhasbeeninuseforawhile.
Frequentlycheckthattheheatingelementsdonotbecomeexposed.Ifthisshould
happen,pileinmorestones.Thedisintegrationofthestonesdependsonthetypeof
stonesandthefrequencyofuse.Theconditionofthestonesshouldbecheckedyearly
andbrokenstonesshouldbereplacedbynewones.
Connectingtheelectricheatertoelectricalnetwork
Theheaterisconnectedtotheelectricalnetworksemi‐stationarilywithaH07RN‐Frubbercableor
itsequivalent.TheuseofPVC‐insulatedcableasaconnectingcableisprohibitedduetothermal
embrittlement.Theelectricinstallationmayonlybeadministeredbyaqualifiedelectrician
adheringtocurrentregulations.Themaximumdistanceofthejunctionboxfromtheflooris400
mm,measuredfromtheuppercornerofthebox.Makesurethattheconnectingcablewillnotbe
exposedtothermalradiationormechanicalstrain.Iftherubbercablerunninginsidethewallof
thesaunaisabove1000mmfromthefloor,itneedstoenduretemperaturesupto170
degreesCelsius(forexampleSSJ).
Controlunit
Thecontrolcableforelectricalheatingisbroughtdirectlyintothejunctionboxoftheheater,and
fromtheretotheterminalblockoftheheater.Thepowerandcontrolunitshouldbeinstalledin
toadryplacebetweentheheaterandtheelectricalcenter,eitherinthesaunaoroutsidethe
sauna(dependingonthemodel).Thethermostatisinstalledintothewall/orroofofthesauna
accordingtoinstructionsandisconnectedwithSSJorsimilarsiliconecabletothepowerunit.

Temperaturerestrictor(overheatprotector)
Thetemperaturerestrictorswitchesoffthepowerifthetemperatureinthesaunaroomclimbs
dangerouslyhigh.Iftherestrictorgoesoff,thecauseisnotatemporarymalfunction.Inthiscase
consultthemanufacturerstechnicalsupport.

Usingthethermostatandadjustingthetemperature
Invariouscontrolunitmodelstheselectedbathingtemperatureisshownonthescreenofthe
controlpanel.Thethermostatsensormustnotbeinstalledlessthan1000mmfromanundirected
incomingairvalveorlessthan500mmawayfromanincomingairvalvewhichhasbeendirected
awayfromthecontrolunit.

Timerfunctions
Variouscontrolunitmodelshavemanyvarioustimeroptions.Attn.morethan4hroperational
timeisprohibitedinprivateuseandshouldbeconsultedbyqualifiedelectrician.

Instructionsforbathing
Beforebathingforthefirsttime,heatuptheheateroncetoburnofftheprotectiveoilsolvents.
Notethatyouneedtoventilatethesaunaroomefficientlybeforeyoubeginbathing.
Theheatingtimeforthestonesandthesaunaroomisabout60minutesdependingonthesizeof
theroomanditsventilation.Throwingwaterontheheaterincreasestemperatureandhumidity.
Thetopofthepillarcreatesmoreheat,whilethesidescreateagentlersteam.
Thetemperatureshouldbesetbythetemperaturecontrolinthecontrolunit.Arecommended
temperatureforthebathingwiththisheateris55–70degrees.
Maintenance:
Duetolargevariationintemperature,thesaunastonesdisintegrateinuse.Payattention
especiallytothegradualsettlingofthestones.Besurethattheheatingelementsdonotappear
withtime.Thestonessettlemostrapidlywithintwomonthsofpiling.Rearrangethestonesat
leastonceayearorevenmoreoftenifthesaunaisinfrequentuse.Atthesametime,removeany
piecesofstonesfromthebottomoftheheaterandreplaceanydisintegratedstoneswithnew
ones.Byalsoleavingfreeairflowandspacingbetweenthesaunastones,theheatingcapabilityof
theheaterstaysoptimal,isfasterandtheriskofoverheatingisavoided.
NOTE!Themaximumvolumeoftheladleis0.5litres.Ifanexcessiveamountofwaterispouredon
thestones,onlypartofitwillevaporateandtherestmaysplashasboilinghotwateronthe
bathers.Neverthrowwateronthestoneswhentherearepeopleneartheheater,becausehot
steammayburntheirskin.

Troubleshooting
Iftheheaterorsaunaroomdoesnotheatup,checkthat:
1. Thepowerison.
2. Thepowerswitch(startbuttononthecontrolpanel)ison.
3. Thetemperatureknobissettoahighertemperaturethanthetemperatureinthesauna
room.
4. Thefusesareintact.
5. Thetemperaturerestrictor(overheatprotector)hasnotswitchedoff.Iftemperature
restrictorhasgoneoff,thereasonmustbesolvedbeforeusingheateragain
6. Checktheerrormessage“E‐number”fromthecontrolpanel.Thecauseofthedefectcan
becheckedfromthecontrolunitmanufacturer'sinstructions.
7. Thestonesarepiledcorrectly.

Pilingofthestones
Useprotectivegloveswhenpilingthestonestotheheaterbecausetheremaybesharpedgesin
theheater.Ifneededwashthestonesbeforeyoupilethem.

Pilingthestonesshouldbedonewithcare.Thestonesshouldbeplacedsothatthegapbetween
theheatingelementsandtheframeoftheheateriscompletelyfilledwithstonesforthewhole
heightoftheheater.Thestonesshouldnotbeplacedtootightlytogether;insteadthereshouldbe
enoughspacebetweenthestonestoallowairtoflowfreely.Pleasemakesurethatelements
makeNOTcontactwitheachotherorwiththeheaterframe.
Inprivateuse,werecommendolivine,olivine‐doleriteandperidotitestones.Thestonesshouldbe
smallerthan10cmindiameter,sothattheyareeasytopileinbetweentheheatingelementsand
themeshframe.Inordinaryusethestonesshouldbechangedevery2to5years,dependingon
howfrequentlythesaunaisused.

Warranty
IKI‐KiuasLtd.(themanufacturer)grantsitsproductswarrantyaccordingtothefollowing
conditions.Themanufacturerguaranteesthequalityandfunctionalityofitsproductsforthe
durationofthewarrantyperiodThewarrantyappliestoproductssoldandinuseinEUregion.The
warrantyrequiresthatthebuyeroftheproductfollowsthemanufacturer’sinstructionsregarding
theplacementoftheheater,itsinstallation,useandmaintenanceaswellasthoseregardingthe
qualitiesofthestonesusedintheheater.Thelengthofthewarrantyinprivateuseis24months
fromthedayofpurchase.Thewarrantyperiodforspasaunasandotherpublicusesaunasis6
months,ordeterminedaccordingtothefrequency/levelofuse.Contactthemanufacturersfor
moredetails.
Thewarrantyforelectricheatersrequiresthat:
1. Incaseofdefectormalfunction,thebuyermustalwayscontactsthemanufacturerorsales
agentfirstbeforesearchingforthecauseorattemptingtorepairit.
2. Inprivateapartmentuse,theheater’sstonespaceneedstobere‐piledatleastoncea
yearandweatheredstonesneedtobereplacedwithnewones.
3. Ininstitutionalorprofessionaluse,theheater’sstonesmustbere‐piledatleastthreetimes
ayearduringthewarrantyperiod.Inaddition,thestonesmustbechangedtonewonesat
leastonceayear.Proofoftheoperationmustbepresentedatrequest.Theproduct’s
purchasereceiptorbuildsite’sacceptancecertificateorsimilarreportfunctionsasthe
warrantycertificate.Theuseofceramicheaterstones(otherthanKerkesceramicheater
stones)isprohibited.Incaseofuseofceramicstones,themanufacturer’swarrantydoes
notapply.
4. Thewarrantydoesnotcoverdismantlementorreinstallationonsaunabenches,removalof
saunastonesnorre‐pilingthem.IKI‐KiuasLtd.recommendsusingforthelowerlevels
saunabenchesthatcanbemovedwithoutusingtoolstodismantlestructures.
5. Thewarrantyforreplacementpartsis12monthsfromthedayofpurchase.The
replacementforadamagedpartwillbedeliveredtotheresellercostfree.Theuseofan
authorizedmechanicisrequiredforinstallationofthereplacementpart.Themanufacturer
isnotliabletoreimburseanycostsoccurredduringtheremovalofthefaultypartorthe
installationofthereplacement.Thefaultypartmustbereturnedtothemanufacturerat
requestandattheexpenseoftheowner.Themanufacturerwillissueitsfreightcontacts
numberbeforereturnofthepart.Receiptfromtheresellerorcertificatefroma
manufacturer’sauthorizedmechanicwillfunctionasawarrantycertificate.
6. Limitationstowarranty:Theproductownermusttakegoodcareoftheproduct.On
receivingtheproduct,theownerisexpectedtocheckthatitdoesnotshowsignsof
damagecausedduringshippingorstorage.Incaseofsuchdamage,theymustcontactthe
salesagentortransportcompanyimmediately,maximum7daysafterreceivingthe
product.Themanufacturerisnotliableforanydamagescausedduringshipping,orby
inappropriatestorage,installationoruseagainstmanufacturer’sinstructions,neglectof
maintenance,ordamagecausedbyplacementoftheheaterinaplacewhichdoesnot
meettherecommendationsmadebythemanufacturer.

7. Damagenotifications:Theownerisresponsiblefornotifyingthemanufacturer,thesales
agent,ormanufacturer’sauthorizedmechanicofanydamageormalfunctionassoonasit
appearsandwithin14days.Anywarrantyrelatedclaimsmustbesubmittedwithin14days
fromtheclosingdateoftheproduct’swarrantyperiod.
8. Manufacturer’sactionsregardingwarranty,continuationofwarranty:Inreceiptofa
substantiatedwarrantyclaim,themanufacturerwillrepairorchangetheproduct.Thisis
doneinthemanufacturer’sexpense,andthemanufacturerisfreetoselectthemostcost‐
effectivealternative.Thewarrantyforreplacementpartsisoutlinedaboveinsection5.
Thereplacementpartisgrantedwarrantyaccordingtospecificationsinsection5.The
warrantyforarepairedpartcontinuesasbefore.
Themanufacturerisnotliableforreimbursinganyexpenses,businesslossorotherdirect
orindirectharmoccurredtothebuyerfromdamagesormalfunction.
QualityGuarantee
Guaranteeofmaterials.Themanufacturerguaranteesthedurabilityofthestainlesssteelparts
(resistorplatformandframe)inprivatehomeusefor10years.Duringthewarrantyperiodany
defectsthatappearintheheater'srawmaterialsorareproduction‐basedwillberepairedfreeof
charge.Forexample,theuseofseawaterontheheaterisforbidden.Readthroughthe
requirementsforwaterqualityintheinstallationsinstructions.Thewarrantydoesnotcovercolor
changes,slippingorhair‐linefractures,characteristictonaturalstones,whichdonotaffecttheuse
orthesafetyoftheheater.
Freightwarranty
Damagesoccurredwhileshippingmusttoberecordedinthewaybillwhentheproductisreceived
orwithin7daysofdelivery.Shippingdamagemustalsoalwaysbereportedtotheshipping
company’slastcontact.Thedamagedpartneedstobestoredforinspection.Insurance
compensatesforthenewpart,whichwillbedeliveredbyapublictransporter.Inallissues
concerningwarrantycontactthestoretheproductwasboughtfrom.

Mechanicalventilationinasaunawithanelectricheater
Attentionshouldbepaidtotheventilationinthesaunaroom.Duetoproperventilation,the
sauna‐goerscanenjoycleanandfresh,oxygen‐richair.Theairinthesaunashouldchangesix
timesinonehour.Thefreshairpipeshouldbelocatedontopoftheheatereitherinthewallor
theceiling,atapproximately500mmfromtheheaterandthediameterofthepipeshouldbe50–
100mm.Theexhaustairpipeshouldbeasfarawayfromtheheateraspossible,yetclosetothe
floor.Theexhaustairpipeshouldbetwicethesizeofthesupplyairpipe.
