Thisinstructionmanualisintendedforthesaunaownerorthepersoninchargeofcaringforthe
operationofthesauna,aswellasfortheelectricianwhoinstallstheheater.Whentheinstallation
iscompletetheseinstructionsmustbegiventotheownerorthepersoncaringforthesauna.The
saunaheaterisintendedforthesolepurposeofheatingthesaunaroomtoatemperature
appropriateforbathing.Itsuseforanyotherpurposeisprohibited.
Beforeyoubegininstallingtheheater,payattentiontothefollowing
points:
Bewareofthesharpedgesofthestainlesssteelmesh.Usealong‐sleeved
shirtandprotectiveglovesduringtheinstallation.
Readthroughthisinstallationmanualbeforeyoubegintheinstallationofthe
heater.
Thewarrantydoesnotcoverdefectscausedbyfaultyinstallationormisuseof
theheater.

Installationoftheheater
1. Removetheplasticwrappingfromaroundtheheater.
2. Choosetheplacefortheheateraccordingtotherequiredsafetydistances(page6).
3. Considerthelocationoftheairvent,thermostatandcontrolunit(seeinstructionsforthecontrol
unit.)
4. Adjustthelegsofthestainlesssteelbasesoitiscompletelylevel.
5. Removethebaseplatefromtheundersideoftheheaterandconnectthefivepoleelectriccableto
theconnectionstripinsidetheelementboxaccordingtothecircuitconnectordiagram(page5).
6. Leadthecablethroughthejunctionboxontotheconrolunitandaffixaccordingtotheinstructions
inthecontrolunit.
7. Testthatalltheheatingelementsfunctionproperly.Ifalltheresistorsheatup,closetheelement
boxpanel.Ifproblemsoccur,contactthemanufacturer'stechnicalsupport.
8. Placethelowerpartofthestainlesssteelmeshframearoundtheheatingelements,sothatitisan
equaldistancefromalltheheatingelements.Checkthattheheatingelementsstandupstraight.If
theyhavebeenbent,carefullystraightenthem.
9. PILINGOFTHESTONES:Washthestonesbeforepiling.Detachthetwostainlesssteelmeshframes
fromoneanother(excludingthePillarIKI7,5kWheatermodel).Pilestonestothelowerpartofthe
frame.Oncethelowerparthasbeenfilledwithstones,reattachtheupperpartoftheframe.Pile
stonestothefilltheupperpart.Theheatingelementsshouldbecarefullycovered.Pleasemake
surethatelementsmakeNOTcontactwitheachotherorwiththeheaterframe.Olivine,olivine‐
doleriteandperidotitestonesarerecommended,insizessmallerthan10cmindiameter.The
stonesshouldnotbeplacedtootightlytogetherallowingforfreeairflowbetweenthestones.In
communallyorpubliclyusedsaunaswerecommendtheuseofceramicKerkesstonesaroundthe
heatingelements(www.kerkes.fi).Kerkesstonessupportandhelppreservetheresistorsandthey
donotdisintegrateprematurelyduetohightemperaturechanges.Notethattheuseofsoapstone
andnaturalstonesisallowedonlyontheouteredgesandonthetopoftheheater.
10. Werecommendtheuseofsafetyrailingsaroundtheheater.However,thestainlesssteelmesh
framedoesnotover‐heatthewayordinarysteel‐casedheatersdo.
11. Thesurfaceofthestonessinksinalittleaftertheheaterisinuse.Frequentlycheckthatthe
heatingelementsdonotbecomeexposed.Ifthisshouldhappen,pileinmorestones.The
disintegrationofthestonesdependsonthetypeofstonesandthefrequencyofuse.Thecondition
ofthestonesshouldbecheckedyearlyandbrokenstonesmustbereplacedwithnewones.

Connectingtheheatertotheelectricalnetwork
Theheaterisconnectedtotheelectricalnetworksemi‐stationarilywithanH07RN‐Frubbercableoran
equivalent.TheuseofPVC‐insulatedcableasaconnectingcableisprohibitedduetothermal
embrittlement.Theelectricinstallationmayonlybeadministeredbyaqualifiedelectricianadheringto
currentregulations.Themaximumdistanceofthejunctionboxfromtheflooris400mm,measuredfrom
theuppercornerofthebox.Makesurethattheconnectingcablewillnotbeexposedtothermalradiation
ormechanicalstrain.Iftherubbercablerunninginsidethewallofthesaunaisabove1000mmfromthe
floor,itneedstoenduretemperaturesupto170degreesCelsius(forexampleSSJ).

Thetemperaturerestrictorswitchesoffthepowerifthetemperatureinthesaunaclimbsdangerouslyhigh
(139degreesCelsius)duetoamalfunction.
