• If possible, store the packaging until the end of the
warranty period. After that period, please dispose of
the packaging in an environmentally friendly manner.

4. General safety information for power tools
Warning! Read all safety-related information and safety
instructions! Failure to observe the safety information
and instructions may result in electric shock, burns and/
or severe injury. Keep the safety information and instruc-
tions for future reference. The term ‘power tool’ as used
in the safety information and instructions includes both
mains-operated tools (with power cord) and battery-
operated tools (without power cord).
4.1 Safety at the workplace
• Keep your working area clean, tidy and well-lit. Dis-
order and poorly lit working areas may result in ac-
cidents.
• Do not operate the power tool in potentially explosive
dusts. Power tools generate sparks that may ignite
dusts or fumes.

Keep children and other persons away while you are
operating the power tool. Distractions may result in the
operator losing control over the tool.
4.2 Electrical safety
• Before switching on, make sure that the voltage of
your electricity supply is the same as that indicated on
the rating plate.

reduces the risk of electric shock.
4.3 Personal safety
•Always pay attention to what you do and apply reason-
able care when working with a power tool. Do not use

with power tools, even a short moment of inattentive-
ness may result in severe injury.
• Wear personal protection equipment and always wear
eye protection (safety goggles). Wearing personal
protection equipment as a dust mask, nonslip safety
shoes, safety helmet or ear protectors (depending on
the type and application of the tool) reduces the risk of
injury.
• Avoid unintentional operation. Make sure that the
power tool is switched off before you connect it to the
mains supply and/or the battery and whenever you
pick up or carry the tool. When carrying the tool with

this may result in accidents.
• Remove adjustment tools or wrenches and the like
before you switch the power tool on.A wrench or other
tool that is inside or on a rotating part of the tool may
cause injury.
• Avoid unusual postures. Make sure to have a safe
footing and keep your balance at all times. This will al-
low you to better control the power tool in unexpected
situations.
• Wear suitable clothes. Do not wear wide clothing or
jewellery. Keep your hair, clothes and gloves clear of
all moving parts. Loose clothing, jewellery or long hair
may get caught in moving parts.
• If dust extraction/collection devices are provided make
sure that they are connected and used properly. The
use of a dust extraction device may reduce risks
caused by dust.
4.4 Use and handling of the power tool
• Do not overtax the power tool. Use the power tool
intended for your type of work in each case. The use
of the suitable power tool within the stated range of
performance makes working more effective and safer.
• Do not use a power tool with a damaged switch. A
power tool that cannot be switched on or off any more
is dangerous and must be repaired.
• Pull the mains plug and/or remove the battery before
adjusting a tool, changing accessories or putting the
tool aside. This precaution avoids the unintentional
start of the tool.
• Store power tools that are currently not used out of
the reach of children. Do not allow persons to use
the tool if they are not familiar with the tool or these
instructions. Power tools are dangerous if used by
inexperienced persons.
• Thoroughly maintain your power tool. Check whether
moving parts are working properly and are not jam-
ming/sticking, and whether parts are broken or other-
wise damaged in a way that may affect the function of
the power tool. Have damaged parts repaired before
using the tool. Many accidents are the result of poorly
maintained power tools.
• Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Thoroughly main-
tained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are jam-
ming less often and are easier to guide.
• Use power tools, accessories, add-on tools, etc. in
accordance with these instructions and in the way
prescribed for the respective type of tool. You should
also consider the working conditions and the work to
be carried out. The use of power tools for purposes
other than those intended for the respective tool may
result in dangerous situations.
4.5 Service

5. Safety Instructions for the Garden Shredder
• Wear protective gloves, glasses, and ear protection.
• Always position the unit so as to be secure and bal-

face during operation.
• Before using, ensure that all screws and nuts are
tightly fastened.
• Only use in dry conditions and never during rainy
weather.
• Do not use the machine with damaged protective
equipment or without protective equipment.

insulation. This type of damage may not be visible, but
can be dangerous.

chine. Remove the plug from the socket and check the
cable regularly for signs of damage or aging. Do not
use the machine with a damaged extension lead.
• If the cable is damaged, it must be replaced by a spe-
cialist in order to prevent accidents.
• Never move the machine by pulling the cable. Do not
move the machine while the motor is running.

• Before undertaking any repair or cleaning work, shut
down the shredder, remove the plug from the outlet,
and wait until the blade comes to a complete stop.

• Only use the shredder during daylight or with strong

5.1 Preparation

• If the a foreign object ends up in the cutting mecha-
nism or if the machine starts to produce unusual nois-
es or vibrations, shut down the device, wait until the
blade stops, unplug the device from the mains, remove

5.3 Maintenance and Storage
• If the machine is deactivated for maintenance, inspec-
tion, storage, or for exchanging a part, (power unit
must be disconnected from the mains), ensure that
all moving parts are still and any tools/spanners have
been removed. Let the machine cool before any in-
spection or repair.
• When maintaining the blade mechanism, make sure
that the the power source cannot activate due to the
protective locking device; the blades could always be
activated by a hand-start mechanism.
5.4 Additional Safety Instructions for Devices with
Collecting Containers
• Shut down the shredder before attaching or removing
the collecting container.
6. Operating Instructions
WARNING: You may need help unpacking and
assembling the machine.
After unpacking and inspecting the shredder for damage,
proceed with the following steps:

• Turn the shredder over.
• Fold both legs up and insert the supplied axle through
the openings.
• Place both washers on the left and ride side of the
axle.

• Place the supplied threaded spacer on the axle. Then
wheel covers.
WARNING: Be careful when leaning the device
on the wheels, since the weight is unbalanced
when titled and moved.
6.2 Collecting Container
• Pull up the safety grip and slide the collecting contain-
er into the under frame.

• Press the on/off switch to switch on or off the shred-
der.
Note: This machine is equipped with an elec-
tromagnetic switch to prevent it from being
unexpectedly switched on when power source
recovered.
7.2 Overload protection
Overload (e.g. blocking up of the chopping knife) will lead
to a standstill of the machine after a few seconds. To pro-
tect the motor from getting damaged, the overload switch
will automatically cut off the mains supply.

• Remove the plug from the outlet.
• Loosen the hand screws and open up the upper part.
• Carefully clean the cutting and ejection elements. Re-
move any objects that could prevent cutting.
• Put the upper part back in place and attach the hand
screws securely.
Press the reset button before pressing the on/off switch.
WARNING: Always wear protective gloves dur-
ing the above steps.
WARNING: Never loosen the hand screws be-
fore deactivating the unit and removing the plug
from the outlet.
7.3 Disassembly
Under certain circumstances (e.g. storage after use), the
machine can be disassembled by following the assembly
steps in reverse order.
7.4 Operating Instructions
• Place the material in the feed opening on the right
side. The machine automatically pulls it into the blade,
which rotates counter-clockwise.
• Do not place too much material into the opening at
once to avoid blocking the device. If shredding damp
and rotted garden waste, alternate with branches so
as to avoid blocking the blade.
• Compost soft kitchen waste. Do not place it in the
shredder.
• Branches with leaves must run through the machine
completely before you can add more material. Please
ensure that the shredded material can fall into the col-
lection container freely without blocking the ejection
opening.
• Ensure that the shredded material does not block the
ventilation openings (cover, clog, etc.).
• Extended shredding of wood or shredding thick wood
or strong branches can cause the machine to stop due
to clogging or jamming.
• Soft material like leaves or small branches can clog
the machine easily. Use a stick or a rod to push this
material in.
• Always check waste material for nails and stones
since this could severely damage the shredder.
• Be careful in the event of vibrations; these are typically
a sign of worn or damaged blades.

8. Care and maintenance
WARNING!
Before commencing cleaning and maintenance proce-
dures, make sure the garden shredder is switched off and
disconnected from the mains supply. Always wear sturdy
leather gloves when cleaning the cutter blades.
1. To ensure the best performance from the garden
shredder, it must be kept clean.
2. Always clean the garden shredder immediately after
use.
3. Do not allow material to become dry and hard on any
of the garden shredder surfaces. This will directly af-
fect the shredding performance.
4. Make sure that the feeder chute and the ejection
chute are kept clean and clear of all waste material.
5. Make sure that all nuts, bolts and screws are tight and
secure.
6. Always have any damaged, or worn parts repaired, or
7. Do not use any cleaning or solvent materials as these
could cause irreparable damage to your machine.

8.1 Changing the Blades

The blades must always be changed in pairs. To do so,
open the shredder and block the blades with a screw-
driver. Use the supplied Allen key to remove the screws.
Install the new blades in the opposite order.
Have your garden shredder inspected and main-
attempt to repair the unit on your own unless

off dirt or plant residue. Wipe the external body
of the shredder clean with cloth. If necessary,
moisten the cloth with a mild cleaning agent or

9. Storage
In order to protect the shredder from corrosion during ex-
tended storage, apply some environmentally friendly oil
to the blade.
Make sure that the garden shredder has been thoroughly
cleaned before storing it in a clean, dry place out of the
reach of children.

Attention! Electrical repairs may only be carried
out by a skilled electrician or a customer service
workshop!
If you send the machine to us for repair, please describe
the fault.
11. Waste disposal and environmental protec-
tion
If your device should become useless somewhere in the
future or you do not need it any longer, do not dispose of
the device together with your domestic refuse, but dis-
pose of it in an environmentally friendly manner. Please
dispose of the device itself at an according collecting/
recycling point. By doing so, plastic and metal parts can
be separated and recycled. Information concerning the
disposal of materials and devices are available from your
local administration.

15. Troubleshooting
PROBLEM CAUSE SOLUTION

material out of the feeding funnel.
