IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the
following:
• Read all instructions before use.
• Close supervision is necessary when any pressure cooker is used near children.
• Allow the pressure cooker to cool before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning
• This pressure cooker is not intended for the use by people (including children) with reduced
physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they
have been given supervision or instructions concerning the use of the pressure cooker
by a person responsible for their safety.
• The use of attachments not recommended by the pressure cooker manufacturer may cause fire or
injuries.
• Do not use the pressure cooker on an outdoor LP gas burner or gas range over 12,000 BTU’s.
• Do not use this pressure cooker for anything other than its intended use.
• Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
• Do not place in a heated oven.
• Extreme caution must be used when moving a pressure cooker containing hot liquids.
• This pressure cooker cooks under pressure. Improper use may result in a scalding injury. Make
sure the unit is properly closed before operating.
• Do not fill the unit over two thirds full. When cooking foods that expand during cooking such as
rice or dried vegetables, do not fill the unit over one-third full. Over filling may cause a risk of
clogging the vent pipe and developing excess pressure.
• Be aware that certain foods, such as applesauce, cranberries, pearl barley, oatmeal or other
cereals, split peas, noodles, macaroni, rhubarb, or spaghetti can foam, froth, and sputter, and clog
the pressure release devices. These foods should not be cooked in a pressure cooker.
• Always make sure that the safety valve, safety lock pin and vent pipe are not blocked before use.
• Always make sure that the safety lock pin is in the open (pressure released) position before
attempting to open your pressure cooker.
• Do not open the pressure cooker until the unit has cooled and all internal pressure has been
released. If the handles are difficult to push apart, this indicates that the cooker is still pressurized
- do not force it open. Any pressure in the cooker can be hazardous.

• Do not use this pressure cooker for pressure frying with oil.
• When the normal operating pressure is reached, turn the heat down so all the liquid, which creates
the steam, does not evaporate.
• Do not place anything on top of the pressure cooker when the lid is closed, when in use, and when
stored.
• Be extremely cautious of steam when opening the lid.
• Do not touch, cover or obstruct the safety valve, safety lock pin or pressure regulator on the top of
the pressure cooker as it extremely hot and may cause burns.
• Alcohol vapor is inflammable. Bring alcohol to the boil some two minutes before putting the lid on.
Watch over your pressure cooker when making alcohol based recipes.
• Never use your pressure cooker to store acid or salty foods prior to and after cooking for this may
damage your pressure cooker body.
• To ensure safe operation and satisfactory performance, replace the silicone gasket if it becomes
hard, deformed, cracked, worn, or pitted. It is recommended that the silicone gasket be
replaced at least every two years.

BEFORE FIRST USE
• Remove all packing material and stickers from the product and save the instruction manual.
Caution: Tear up all plastic bags as they can pose a risk to children.
• Wash cooking pot and lid with warm sudsy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
• Apply a very light coating of cooking oil to the sealing ring and to the underside of the lugs on the
pressure cooker pot to help make the lid easier to open and close.
HOW TO USE YOUR PRESSURE COOKER
• Check recipe for specific cooking method and cooking time.
• Pour required amount of liquid into the pressure cooker, and then add food.
Caution: Never fill your pressure cooker more than two-thirds full. For food that expands during
cooking, like rice or dried vegetables or stewed fruit, never fill your pressure cooker more
than one-third full.
• Look through the vent pipe to make certain that it is clear before placing lid on pressure cooker
body.
• Place lid on pressure cooker and close securely.
1. Align the mark on the lid with the mark on the cooking pot handle.

USE AND CARE INSTRUCTIONS
7
2.Push down and then rotate the lid handle clockwise until the lid handle lines up with
the cooking pot handle.
• Place the pressure regulator on the vent pipe.
Note: The pressure regulator will fit loosely on the vent pipe; it will not touch the top of the lid.
• Select a high heat setting on your stove.
• Heat the pressure cooker until the pressure regulator attains a gentle rocking motion.
• When pressure begins to build, the safety lock pin slides up locking the lid. Once the pressure
cooker has sealed, the cooking time begins.
Note: The safety lock pin may move up and down a few times when cooking first begins; as it
automatically exhausts air from the pressure cooker. Steam will be noticeable. This is normal.
• The safety lock pin will remain in the up position until pressure is released.
• Adjust the heat as necessary to maintain regulator in a slow rocking motion.
Note: Cook for the length of time indicated in the recipe.
Caution: Never leave your pressure cooker unattended at high heat settings. It could boil dry,
overheat, and cause damage to the pressure cooker.

• When cooking time is complete, turn off the burner. If using an electric stove, remove pres
sure cooker from the burner.
Caution: Lift pressure cooker when removing it from the burner since sliding it can leave
scratches on stovetops.
• Release pressure according to the recipe, if the instructions say:
1. “Natural Release Method” (Slow Pressure Release Method): set the pressure
cooker aside to cool until pressure is completely reduced.
2.“Cool Water Release Method” (Fast Pressure Release Method): cool the pressure
cooker under a running water faucet or pour cold water over it, or place it in a pan of
cold water until pressure is completely reduced.
Note: Do not set hot pressure cooker in a molded sink as it could damage the sink.
Pressure is completely reduced when the safety lock pin has dropped. If the safety lock
pin remains in its raised position, there is still pressure inside the pressure cooker.
Continue to cool until the safety lock pin drops.
• After the pressure has been released, and the safety lock pin has dropped, carefully remove the
pressure regulator.
Note: Always remove the pressure regulator before opening the lid.
• Open the lid by grasping the cooking pot handles with both hands and turn the lid counterclock
wise. Align the mark on the lid with the mark on the cooking pot handles. Then lift the lid.
Caution: Lift the lid towards you to keep any steam away from you.
• If you cannot turn handles, there still may be some pressure inside the unit. Do not force the lid
off. Continue to cool the pressure cooker until the steam is no longer escaping
from the vent pipe, the safety lock pin has dropped, and the lid turns easily.

GETTING THE MOST FROM YOUR PRESSURE
COOKER
Dried Beans, other Legumes and Grains
Caution: Never fill the pressure cooker to more than one-third its capacity with beans and legumes, as
these foods tend to expand and froth during cooking.
• Clean out any foreign particles. Rinse them with warm water.
• Soak beans in four times their volume of warm water for at least four hours before cooking them.
Do not add salt to the water as this hardens the beans and prevents them from absorbing water.
Note: Do not soak dried split lentils.
• After soaking, remove floating beans and shells.
• Strain the water off the beans.
• Rinse them in warm water (this also applies to dried split lentils).
• Put the beans or legumes in the pressure cooker. Add three cups of water for each cup of beans
or legumes. Do not add salt; beans and legumes should be seasoned after cooking.
• Add a tablespoon of vegetable oil for each cup of water to eliminate the foam which they produce.
• To add more flavor, cook beans or lentils with some bay leaves, add a small peeled onion and two
cloves of garlic.
• Use the natural release method when the cooking period is over.
• Cooking times may vary depending on the quality of the beans or other legumes. If after the
recommended cooking time legumes are still hard, continue cooking them with the lid off. If
necessary, add water.
• A cup of beans or other legumes yields approximately two cups when cooked.
Fresh and Frozen Vegetables
• Wash all fresh vegetables thoroughly.
• Peel all root vegetables.
• If the approximate cooking time is more than 10 minutes you should use two cups of water.
• You should never fill the pressure cooker to more than two thirds of its capacity.
• When you cook frozen vegetables you must extend the total cooking time by 1 to 2 minutes.
• Use the cold water release method when the cooking period is over.

PRESSURE COOKER
USE AND CARE INSTRUCTIONS
11
Dried Fruit
• Put dried fruit in the pressure cooker with 1 cup of water or fruit juice for each cup of dried fruit.
• If you prefer, you can add seasoning or other flavoring.
• Use the cold water release method when the cooking period is over.
• If after the cooking period the fruit is still hard, let it simmer in the cooking pot with the lid re
moved until it is ready. Add water if necessary.
Seafood and Fish
• Clean and gut fish. Take out all the visible bones.
• Scrub and rinse shellfish in cold water. Soak clams and mussels in a container of cold water with
the juice of one lemon, for an hour, to remove sand from them.
• Cooking times can vary depending on the seafood which is cooked.
• If you prefer, add seasoning or flavoring to the cooking liquid.
• Never fill the pressure cooker to more than two thirds of its capacity.
• When you prepare concentrated stock or soup put all the ingredients in the pressure cooker and
adds water to half its capacity.
• Use the cold water release method when the cooking period is over.
Meat and Poultry
• Remove all the visible fat from the meat or poultry.
Note: Meat and poultry cut up into small pieces which cook more quickly.
• To achieve best results, brown the meat or poultry with 2 to 3 tablespoons of vegetable or olive
oil in the pressure cooker with the lid off and before adding the other ingredients. Do not overload
the pressure cooker. Brown meat in batches if necessary. Drain off the excess fat and begin as
indicated in the recipe.
• Always cook meat and poultry with at least 1/2 cupful of liquid. If the cooking time exceeds 15
minutes, use two cups of liquid. Meats with preservatives or salted meats should be covered by
the water.
• When you prepare a concentrated stock or soup, put all the ingredients in the pressure cooker and
add water to half its capacity.
• Exact cooking times vary depending on the quality and quantity of the meat which is cooked.
• Use the natural release method when the cooking period is over.
