How do I pair my phone with my GPS unit?
•Touch the Phone button on the home screen. A message displays “Your phone is not set up. Set up now?” Touch Yes.
Bluetooth settings screen opens.
•Touch the green arrow on the right. The Bluetooth enable/disable screen opens.
•Touch enable, then touch the back arrow at the bottom of the screen.
•Touch PIN Number to display the keypad, then type your phone’s PIN number. Please refer to the manual that came
with your cellular phone. The default PIN number for many Bluetooth devices is 0000.
•Touch Save after you enter the number. The screen returns to the Bluetooth management screen. If you have not set
your phone to pair with a Bluetooth device, the screen indicates “No phone connected.”
•Set your phone to scan for a Bluetooth device. It should indicate that it has found a Bluetooth device and the GPS
device indicates that a phone is paired.
•Touch OK to close this message and return to the Bluetooth management screen. The screen displays the name of the
phone you paired.
•Touch any button at the bottom to exit the screen and continue using the device.
How do I answer a call with my GPS when my phone is connected via Bluetooth?
•When a call is received, an incoming call message displays showing the phone number.
•Touch the Phone alert which displays the incoming call information, then touch answer or ignore.
How do I place a call using my GPS when my phone is connected via Bluetooth?
•Touch the Phone button on the home screen. The dial keypad opens.
•Enter the phone number, then touch Call. Your phone dials the number.
Where can I get my maps updated? Does it cost anything?
•Updates are available in Best Buy stores at the Geek Squad bench. These updates will be available up to 4 times per
year.
•Each quarter, a notice will be sent to your GPS device letting you know when the updates are available.
•Updates will be free for the first year. Annual subscriptions of $99 will be available after the first year is up.
•The annual subscription includes updated maps, Google search, real time traffic, etc.
How do I attach my unit to my windshield or dash?
•Set the bottom edge of the GPS onto the mount cradle.
•Press down on the top edge of the cradle and pivot the top of the GPS into the cradle.
•Push the mount cradle and GPS assembly into the mounting bracket.
•Lift the suction fastener.
•Place the assembly on the desired location, windshield or dash, then press the fastener down to secure it to the
surface.
•If you are using this GPS unit in either California or Minnesota, it is against the law to place the suction mount on car
windshields, side, or rear windows as it can obstruct the driver’s clear view.
How do I know how much battery charge I have left?
•The battery charge indicator is located in the upper left corner of the screen.
oIf the battery is fully charged, three bars will be located inside the battery icon.
How long does the battery charge last?
•A fully charged battery will last approximately 2 hours.

How long does it take to charge the battery?
•Battery charging time is normally about 4 hours.
My fingers are too big to push the letters on the screen. Is there any way I can make the buttons appear larger on the
screen?
•The size of the buttons cannot be made larger however you can use the provided touch pen to tap the screen instead of
using your fingers.
Can I pause my route and return to it later?
•Yes, you can pause a route and return to it later.
oFrom the map view, tough the home screen button at the bottom of the screen.
oWhen the Home screen opens, touch Stop.
oTo resume the route after stopping:
Touch Go to … on the Home screen, then touch Recent on the Main menu. A list of your recent
addresses opens.
Touch the destination you want on the list. The address card for that destination opens.
Touch Go to start directions.
Does the car adapter charge the battery while the GPS unit is being used?
•Yes, the car adapter charges the GPS’s battery.
Are there any indicators to let me know my battery is dying?
•No however the battery charge indicator is located in the upper left corner of the screen.
oIf the battery is fully charged, three bars will be located inside the battery icon.
Will the GPS automatically recalculate my route if I deviate from the route?
•Yes, the GPS automatically recalculates routes if you deviate from the suggested route.
How do I change the GPS heading?
•On the home screen, touch the Settings button in the upper right corner of the screen. The settings menu opens.
•Touch the Map View button. The map view selection screen opens.
•Touch the option you want. Options include:
oCar up: The top of the map view always represents the direction you are heading. The screen is in 2D, which
appears as if you are looking straight down at the map.
oNorth up: The top of the map view is always north.
o3D: The map appears in perspective as though a horizon is in the distance. This is the factory default setting.

•Touch the back arrow to save your changes and view the settings menus, or touch the world icon to save your
changes and return to the map view.
My GPS receiver will not connect to the satellite.
•The satellite reception may be blocked by tall buildings or a metal enclosure.
oMake sure the GPS is located in an open area with a clear view of the sky.
•Static or other external interference may cause the GPS to malfunction.
oPress the reset button
OR Unplug the GPS, then plug it back in to reset it.

Can I search for points of interest?
•Yes, you can search for points of interest.
oOn the Home screen, touch the Go to … button. The main menu opens.
oTouch the Browse button to view restaurants, lodging, things to do, public services, gas prices, etc. The
browse screen opens.
oTouch the category you want, for example Food. A list of food specialties opens.
oTouch the type of food you want. The Search is in screen opens showing cities to which you have recently
created routes.
oTouch the city you want to search to view the list of restaurants. A list of restaurants fitting the criteria you
selected opens.
oTouch the name of the restaurant you like. The address card for the restaurant opens.
oTouch Go to navigate to your selected destination or you can touch the back arrow to return to the list of
restaurants and choose another.
•The information retrieved by your GPS is based on conducting a search via Google.com.
oIt will find the same information as it would produce when conducting a Google search on the internet.
oNot all information is available on Google, but the information produced by the GPS is the most up to date
information available.
How much is the service to continue using Google search, real time traffic, etc.?
•The service is free for the first year. Annual subscriptions of $99 will be available thereafter.
How do I set my home address?
•On the Home screen, touch the Go to … button. The main menu opens.
•Touch Go Home. The Home is not yet save screen opens.
•Touch Type address to enter a state, city, house number, and street as your home.
•When the address card opens with your home address, touch Save at the bottom of the screen.
•Touch the home screen button or the back arrow to exit this screen and continue your route creation.
Can I change the voice on my GPS?
•No, it is not possible to change the voice on your GPS.
Can I change the language on my GPS?
•Currently English is the only available language.
How do I add a waypoint or more than one destination?
•It is not possible to add a waypoint or more than one destination.
How do I update the firmware on my GPS?
•Firmware updates are available via the Insignia website (www.insignia-products.com)

How do I adjust the brightness of my screen?
•To adjust the Brightness of the screen:
oOn the home screen, touch the Settings button in the upper right corner of the screen. The settings menu
opens.
oTouch the Brightness button. The brightness menu opens.
oTouch the scale to adjust the brightness. You see a preview of the setting as you touch each level on the scale.
oTouch the back arrow to save your change.
•To set the day or night color palette:
oOn the home screen, touch the Settings button in the upper right corner of the screen. The settings menu
opens.
oTouch the Day/Night button. The Select Color Palette screen opens.
oTouch the option you want. A sample of your selection of displays on the right. Options include:
Auto: Automatically switches the Day and Night colors according to the time of day at your current GPS
location. When a GPS signal is not available, your GPS changes from Night Mode to Day Mode at 8
a.m. and from Day Mode to Night Mode at 8 p.m. automatically.
Day: Day colors are displayed with a light background and street names in black text.
Night: Night colors provide constrasting colors that are easier to see in the dark. For night, the map
view has a dark background, and street names in white text.
Touch the back arrow to save your changes and view the settings menus, or touch the world icon
to save your changes and return to the map view.
Can I email a route from Google Maps to my GPS?
•Yes, you can email a route from Google Maps to your GPS.
•Have you set up your GPS’s email address?
oYes
To email a Google Maps route to your GPS:
•Find the directions to your destination on Google Maps.
•Click Send at the top right of the Google map. A window opens that lets you choose where you
want to send the directions.
•Select GPS, then select “Insignia” as the Brand.
•Enter the email address that you assigned to your GPS device.
•Click Send. After a few minutes your device notifies you that new addresses have arrived.
•Touch Yes to view the new addresses. The address or addresses display on your Favorites list.
OR Touch No to return to the screen you were previously viewing.
oNo
To set up your GPS’s email address:
•On the home screen, touch the Settings button in the upper right corner of the screen.
The settings menu opens.
•Touch the @ Mail button. The E-mail address screen opens.
•Touch Set. The Select an email id keypad opens.
•Enter the E-mail ID you want to use. It should include 6 to 30 letters and numbers.
•Touch Check at the bottom right of the keypad to see if the ID is available.
oIf it is, you receive a message: Checking availability… <YourID> is available.
Touch OK to return to the My E-mail Address setting screen, then touch the
back arrow or the home screen button to exit the screen.
oIf you have not used enough characters for your ID, you receive a message: Check
availability… Letters num between 6 and 30.
Touch OK to return to the keypad and enter another ID, then touch Check.
To email a Google Maps route to your GPS:
•Find the directions to your destination on Google Maps.
•Click Send at the top right of the Google map. A window opens that lets you choose where you
want to send the directions.
•Select GPS, then select “Insignia” as the Brand.

•Enter the email address that you assigned to your GPS device.
•Click Send. After a few minutes your device notifies you that new addresses have arrived.
•Touch Yes to view the new addresses. The address or addresses display on your Favorites list.

My GPS unit is interfering with other objects in my car (i.e., satellite radio).
•Your GPS unit contains an integrated GSM cell phone.
oThis may interfere with other devices in your car.
oThis GPS device has passed all required FCC and cellular certifications.
The GPS is not finding all the restaurants in my area.
•The information retrieved by your GPS is based on conducting a search via Google.com.
oIt will find the same information as it would produce when conducting a Google search on the internet.
