Die Maschine ist kein Spielzeug und für
Einsatz und Benutzung durch Kinder
nicht geeignet!
Die sicherheitstechnische Gesamtkonzep-
tion (Abmessungen, Zuführönungen,
Sicherheitsabschaltungen etc.) dieser Ma-
schine beinhaltet keine Garantie einer ge-
fahrlosen Handhabung durch Kinder.
Im Gefahrenfall die Maschine am Haupt-
schalter oder Not-Aus-Schalter ausschal-
ten oder den Netzstecker ziehen!
Vor dem Önen der Maschine den Netz-
stecker ziehen!
Reparaturen dürfen nur von einem Fach-
mann durchgeführt werden!

2 Inbetriebnahme
2.1 Einsatzbereich
ACHTUNG!
Beschädigung des Schneidwerks!
Die Maschine darf nur zur Zerkleinerung
von freigegebenem Material verwendet
werden!
Die Zerkleinerung andersartiger Materiali-
en kann Schäden am Gerät (z. B. Zerstörung
des Schneidwerks etc.) zur Folge haben.
Der Datenshredder intimus FlashEx ist eine Maschi-
ne zum Zerkleinern von Flashspeicher-Medien wie
beispielsweise USB-Sticks, Mobiltelefone, Minitablets
oder SSD-Speicher sowie von CDs und DVDs.
GEFAHR!
Verletzungsgefahr! Brandgefahr! Be-
schädigung der Maschine!
Das Shreddern eines mobilen Gerätes
mit Akku kann eine Stichamme oder
eine Explosion erzeugen.
)Aus akkubetriebenen Geräten vor dem
Zerkleinern immer den Akku entfernen!
)Aus batteriebetriebenen Geräten vor
dem Zerkleinern immer die Batterien
entfernen!
2.2 Aufstellung
1. Gerät auspacken und aufstellen.
2. Plastiksack in den Auangbehälter (Abb.5/2) ein-
setzen.
3. Gerät mit Netzstecker am Stromnetz anschließen
(Angaben über die erforderliche Vorsicherung der
Netzsteckdose siehe „Technische Daten“ auf S. 8.

Bei Betätigung dieser Taste läuft die Maschine an
und kann beschickt werden.

Bei Drücken und Halten dieses Schalters läuft das
Schneidwerk rückwärts.

zeigt bei laufendem Schneidwerk den momentan
manuell eingestellten Geschwin-digkeitslevel an.

= Kontroll-Anzeige
„Betriebsbereit“
Leuchtet auf, wenn der Hauptschalter (Abb.1) ein-
geschaltet ist.
„Motorüberlastung“
Blinkt auf, wenn der Motor überlastet worden ist.
Die Maschine kann während der Abkühlphase des
Motors nicht auf„Vorwärtslauf“ geschaltet werden.

= Kontroll-Anzeige„Materialstau“
Leuchtet auf, wenn dem Schneidwerk zuviel Ma-
terial zugeführt wurde (siehe Beschreibung unter
„Automatikschaltung bei „Überfütterung““ auf S.

= Kontroll-Anzeige
„Tür oen“ /„Sicherheitsscheibe oen“
Leuchtet auf, wenn die Tür bzw. die Sicherheits-
scheibe (Abb. 3/1) oen steht. Die Maschine wird
hierbei automatisch abgeschaltet und kann solan-
ge die Tür bzw. die Sicherheitsscheibe auf ist, nicht
wieder gestartet werden
„Auangbehälter voll“
Leuchtet auf, wenn der Auangbehälter gefüllt ist
und geleert werden muss. Gleichzeitig wird die
Maschine automatisch abgeschaltet.

Maschine läuft nur bei geschlossener Sicherheits-
scheibe.

= Zuführklappe
Material durch die Zuführklappe dem Gerät zufüh-
ren. Das Schneidwerk wird gestartet.
3.4 Maschine einschalten
Schalten Sie das Gerät am Hauptschalter (Abb.1) ein.
¾Zum Zeichen der Betriebsbereitschaft leuchtet
das Lämpchen der Kontroll-Anzeige „Betriebs-
bereit“ (Abb. 2/7) sowie das der roten Stopp-Tas-
te„S“ (Abb.2/3).
¾Die Maschine kann beschickt werden.
3.5 Shreddervorgang starten

)Batterien und Akkus vor dem Shreddern
aus dem Gerät entfernen!
ACHTUNG!
Materialstau! Beschädigung der Maschi-
ne!
ÌFühren Sie dem Gerät die Datenträger
einzeln und nacheinander zu! Dadurch
erreicht der intimus FlashEx seinen
höchsten Durchsatz.
ÌSollte zuviel Material in das Schneid-
werk gelangt sein, siehe unter „Material-
stau“ auf S. 7.
Zuführung durch die Zuführklappe (Abb.4/2)
Kleinere Datenträger wie USB-Sticks, Mobiltelefone
oder SSD-Festplatten durch die Zuführklappe in das
Schneidwerk rutschen lassen.
¾Der Shreddervorgang startet automatisch.
¾Nachdem der Datenträger vernichtet ist, drü-
cken Sie die Stopp-Taste„S“.

1. Bei größeren Datenträgern, z.B. Minitablets, die Si-
cherheitsscheibe zurückschieben und den Daten-
träger in das Schneidwerk führen.
2. Sicherheitsscheibe wieder schließen.
3. Vorwärtstaster Abb.2/1 kurz betätigen.
¾Der Shreddervorgang startet.
¾Nachdem der Datenträger vernichtet ist, drü-
cken Sie die Stopp-Taste„S“ (Abb.2/3).
HINWEIS!
Während der Zerkleinerung ist ein mehrma-
liges Reversieren (abwechselnd Vorwärtslauf
und Rückwärtslauf) üblich. Dies ist Bestandteil
des Shreddervorgangs und stellt keine Stö-
rung dar.
Zerkleinerungsvorgang manuell stoppen
Durch kurze Betätigung der Stopp-Taste „S“ (Abb.2/3)
kann der Zerkleinerungsvorgang jederzeit manuell
gestoppt werden.
3.6 Maschine ausschalten
Hauptschalter (Abb. 1) ausschalten (Stellung„O“).
¾Die Maschine schaltet aus.
3.7 Automatikschaltung bei„Über-
fütterung“
Sollte der Shredder einmal „überfüttert“ werden, so
„regelt“ dieser alles weitere automatisch wie folgt:
Das Schneidwerk blockiert. Die Kontroll-Anzeige
(Abb. 2/8) leuchtet auf.
Schneidwerk läuft ein Stückweit rückwärts. Das
Zerkleinerungsgut wird frei.
Schneidwerk schaltet wieder auf Vorwärtslauf. Das
Zerkleinerungsgut wird erneut dem Schneidwerk
zugeführt.
Dieser Bewegungsablauf wird von der Maschine selb-
ständig so lange wiederholt, bis das Zerkleinerungs-
gut rückstandslos durchgelaufen und zerkleinert ist.
3.8 Automatik-Funktion Vario-
Speed
Vario-Speed ist eine Leistungsoptimierung:
Bei geringer Materialmenge steigert Vario-Speed
automatisch die Arbeitsgeschwindigkeit um bis zu
50%.
Bei hoher Materialmenge, wenn große Schneid-
leistung benötigt wird, wandelt Vario-Speed die
Arbeitsgeschwindigkeit automatisch zugunsten
einer hohen Arbeitsleistung.
3.9 Manuell-Funktion Vario-Speed
Der Bediener hat zusätzlich zur Automatik-Funktion
die Möglichkeit, die Arbeitsgeschwindigkeit individu-
ell stufenlos zu variieren:
Zur Erhöhung der Arbeitsgeschwindigkeit drücken
Sie die Plustaste Vario-Speed (Abb.2/5).
Zur Reduzierung der Arbeitsgeschwindigkeit zu-
gunsten einer höheren Arbeitsleistung drücken
Sie die Minustaste Vario-Speed (Abb.2/4).
Der aktuelle Geschwindigkeits-Level wird über die Ge-
schwindigkeitsanzeige Vario-Speed (Abb.2/6) ange-
zeigt
3.10 Auangbehälter entleeren
HINWEIS!
Informieren Sie sich bitte bei Ihrem zuständi-
gen Recycling-Unternehmen über eine fach-
gerechte Entsorgung des Schnittguts!

Ist der Auangbehälter gefüllt, schaltet der Motor ab.
Die Kontroll-Anzeige „Auangbehälter voll“ (Abb. 2/9)
und die Stopp-Taste„S“ (Abb.2/3) leuchten auf.
Entleeren Sie den Auangbehälter (Abb. 5/2) wie folgt:
1. Tür (Abb.5/1) önen.
2. Auangbehälter mit dem gefüllten Sack entneh-
men.
3. Den Sack zu voller Länge hochstülpen, zusam-
menddrehen und mit Klebeband oder Kabelbin-
der verschließen.
4. Den Sack entnehmen und mit dem Inhalt entsor-
gen.
5. Leeren Sack in den Behälter einsetzen.
6. Den Behälter wieder in die Maschine einsetzen.
Den Behälter dabei zwischen den beiden Schienen
(Abb. 5/3) korrekt positionieren und bis zur Rück-
wand schieben.

7. Tür schließen.
¾Die Kontroll-Anzeige „Auangbehälter voll“ er-
lischt.
¾Die Maschine ist betriebsbereit.
HINWEIS!
Die Maschine läuft nur bei geschlossener Tür
und geschlossener Sicherheitsscheibe!
4 Störung
ACHTUNG!
Verletzungsgefahr!
Material mit Bedacht entnehmen, da Verlet-
zungsgefahr durch scharfkantige Schnitt-
stellen.
4.1 Materialstau
Ergibt sich durch zuviel zugeführtes oder durch zu har-
tes Material ein Stau, reagiert die Maschine wie folgt:
Das Schneidwerk blockiert und bleibt stehen.
Die Kontroll-Anzeige (Abb. 2/8) leuchtet auf.
Gehen Sie wie folgt vor:
1. Rückwärtstaste (Abb. 2/2) kurz betätigen.
¾Das Material wird frei.
2. Sicherheitsscheibe (Abb.3/1) önen.
3. Material mit Hilfe der beiligenden Zange entneh-
men.
4. Sicherheitsscheibe schließen.
5. Das Material erneut und einzeln nacheinander zu-
führen.
4.2 Material wird nicht eingezogen
Ob Material eektiv eingezogen werden kann, hängt
von seiner Oberächenbeschaenheit ab. Gerade
glatte oder stark abgerundete Objekte können nicht
immer fest vom Schneidwerk gegrien werden.
Gehen Sie in dem Fall wie folgt vor.
Reversieren Sie das Schneidwerk manuell
1. Stopp-Taste„S“ drücken (Abb.2/3).
2. Rückwärts-Taste betätigen (Abb. 2/2).
3. Stopp-Taste„S“ drücken.
4. Vorwärts-Taste drücken (Abb.2/1).
5. Wiederholen Sie die Schritte 1 bis 4 mehrere Male.
Das hilft in vielen Fällen.
4.3 Material wird nicht vollständig
vernichtet
Es kann in Einzelfällen vorkommen, dass Material auf
dem Schneidwerk verbleibt. Dies kann dreierlei Grün-
de haben:
Die Maschine konnte das Objekt nicht greifen
Siehe in diesem Fall „Material wird nicht eingezogen“
auf S. 7.
Die zugeführte Menge war zu viel
Gehen Sie in dem Fall wie folgt vor:
1. Stopp-Taste„S“ drücken.
2. Sicherheitsscheibe önen.
3. Material mit der beiliegenden Zange entnehmen.
4. Sicherheitsscheibe schließen.
5. Objekte einzeln und nacheinander erneut zufüh-
ren.
Das zugeführte Material war zu robust
Gehen Sie in dem Fall wie folgt vor:
1. Stopp-Taste„S“ drücken.
2. Stellen Sie sicher, dass das zugeführte Objekt dem
Einsatzbereich entspricht (siehe „Einsatzbereich“
auf S. 4). Ist das nicht der Fall, entnehmen Sie
das Objekt aus dem Schneidwerk.
3. Entspricht das Objekt dem Einsatzbereich der Ma-
schine, starten Sie den Shreddervorgang erneut
durch Betätigen des Vorwärtstasters (Abb. 2/1).
4.4 Motorschutz
Sollte der Motor überlastet werden, so schaltet er ab.
Zum Zeichen dafür blinkt das Lämpchen der Anzeige
„Betriebsbereit“ (Abb.2/7) auf. Nach einer Abkühlzeit
von ca. 15-20 Minuten (je nach Modell und Raumtem-
peratur) können Sie die Maschine erneut starten.
HINWEIS!
Bei einer Motorüberlastung wird nur der „Vor-
wärtslauf“ abgeschaltet. Zur Entnahme des
Schriftgutes aus dem Einfüllschacht kann das
Schneidwerk jederzeit auf„Rückwärtslauf“ ge-
schaltet werden.
4.5 Checkliste bei Störungen
Sollte das Gerät nicht funktionieren, prüfen Sie folgen-
de Punkte:
Ist der Netzstecker am Netz angeschlossen?
Ist die Tür geschlossen?
Ist der Hauptschalter (Abb. 1) eingeschaltet?
Ist die Sicherheitsscheibe geschlossen?
Ist der Auangbehälter voll?

ter entleeren“ auf S. 6.

HINWEIS!
In vielen Fällen hilft ein Neustart der Maschine:
1. Maschine einmal ausschalten.
2. Maschine wieder einschalten.
Wenn keine der Prüfpunkte zutreen, benachrichtigen
Sie bitte Ihren intimus Servicepartner.
5 Wartung / Entsorgung
HINWEIS!
Es empehlt sich die regelmäßige Wartung
durch Ihren intimus Servicepartner.
5.1 Schneidwerk ölen
Cross-Cut-Schneidwerke müssen regelmäßig nach
20Minuten Betriebszeit geölt werden.
Schneidwerk ölen:
1. Sicherheitsscheibe (Abb.4/1) önen.
¾Die Kontrollanzeige „Sicherheitsscheibe oen“
(Abb. 2/9) leuchtet.
2. Mit der mitgelieferten Ölasche einen dünnen Öl-
strahl von links nach rechts über dem Schneidwerk
verteilen.
3. Sicherheitsscheibe wieder schließen.
¾Die Kontrollanzeige „Sicherheitsscheibe oen“
erlischt.
4. Rückwärtstaster (Abb. 2/2) einige Sekunden drü-
cken und halten.
¾Das Öl wird auf den Schneidwalzen verteilt.
¾Anschließend ist die Maschine wieder einsatz-
bereit.
Zur Nachbestellung der Ölasche siehe unter „Zube-
hör“ auf S. 8.
5.2 Entsorgung der Maschine
Entsorgen Sie die Maschine am Ende ihrer Le-
bensdauer stets umweltgerecht. Geben Sie
keine Teile der Maschine oder der Verpackung
in den Hausmüll.

2 Startup
2.1 Area of application
CAUTION!
Damage to the cutting mechanism!
Only use the machine to shred approved
materials!
Shredding other types of material can result
in damage to the equipment (e.g. destruc-
tion of the cutting mechanism, etc.).
The intimus FlashEx data shredder is a machine to
shred ash memory devices such as USB sticks, mobile
phones, mini tablets, SSD cards, CDs and DVDs.
DANGER!
Risk of injury! Fire hazard! Damage to the
machine!
Shredding a mobile device with a battery
can generate a ash or an explosion.
)Always remove batteries from battery-
powered devices before shredding!
2.2 Installation
1. Unpack and install the device.
2. Insert the plasticbag intothecatch basket (Fig.5/2).
3. Connect the device to the power supply via the
power plug (for information on the fuses which the

3.1 Mains switch (Emergency-stop)

„Motor protection“
Flashes when the motor is overloaded. While the
motor is cooling down, the machine cannot be
switched on to„forward“ run.

Lights when too much material is fed to the cut-
ters (see description „Automatic response in case of
„overloading““, p.12).

= Pilot lamp
„Door open“/„Safety glass open“
Lights when the door is not closed or when the sa-
fety glass (Fig.3/1) is open. The machine then swit-
ches o automatically and it cannot be started as
long as the door is open or the safety glass is open.
„Catch basket full“
Lights as soon as the catch basket is full and needs
to be emptied. At the same time the machine swit-
ches o automatically.

Feed the material through the device's feed ap.

3.4 Turning the machine on
To start, switch on the unit by operating the main
switch (Fig.1).
¾The pilot lamp marked „ready for operation“
(Fig.2/7), as well as the red stop-button „S“
(Fig.2/3) will light to indicate that the machine
is ready for operation.
¾You can now feed the machine.
3.5 Starting the shredding process
DANGER!
Risk of injury! Damage to the machine!
)Remove batteries from the device befo-
re shredding it!
CAUTION!
Material jam! Damage to the machine!
ÌFeed the data carriers into the machine
individually, one after another! This lets
the intimus FlashEx reach its best per-
formance.
ÌIf too much material has reached the
cutting mechanism, see „Material jam“,
p.13.
Feeding through the feed ap (Fig.4/2)
Slip small data carriers, like USB sticks, mobile phones
or SSD disks, through the feed ap into the cutting me-
chanism.
¾The shredding process starts automatically.
¾After destroying the data carrier, press the stop-
button„S“ (Fig.2/3).

1. For larger data carriers, e.g. mini tablets, push the
safety glass back and feed the data carrier into the
cutting mechanism.
2. Close the safety glass again.

button„S“ (Fig.2/3).

NOTE!
While shredding, repeated reversing (swit-
ching between forward and backward ope-
ration) is normal. This is part of the shredding
process and does not indicate a failure.
Stopping the shredding process manually
The shredding process can be manually stopped at any
time by briey pressing the stop-button„S“ (Fig.2/3).
3.6 Switching the machine o
Switch o the unit by turning the mains switch (Fig.1)
to position„O“.
¾The machine turns o.
3.7 Automatic response in case of
„overloading“
In case you accidentally overload the shredder, it will
automatically alleviate the problem as follows:
The cutting system becomes jammed. The pilot
lamp (Fig.2/8) lights up.
The cutting system runs briey in reverse, thereby
freeing the material to be shredded.
The cutting system automatically switches back to
forward mode.
The machine repeats this process until all the material
has been shredded satisfactorily.
3.8 Automatic Vario-Speed function
The Vario-Speed optimizes the machine power in the
dierent working conditions:
The operating speed is automatically increased by
up to 50% for small quantities of material.
More power is required at the cutting system for
larger quantities of material, and the variable
speed system reduces the working speed automa-
tically in favour of increased power.
3.9 Manual Vario-Speed function
In addition to the automatic variable speed function,
the operator can also manually select any desired, in-
nitely adjustable working speed:
Press the vario-speed plus key (Fig.2/5), in order to
increase working speed.
Press the vario-speed minus key (Fig.2/4), in order
to decrease working speed, and to allow for incre-
ased cutting capacity.
Current cutting speed is indicated at the vario-speed
display (Fig.2/6)
3.10 Emptying the catch basket
NOTE!
Please consult the appropriate recycling servi-
ces in your area to learn how to properly dis-
pose of the shredded material!

If the catch basket is full, the motor switches o. The
pilot lamp „Catch basket full“ (Fig. 2/9) and the stop-
button„S“ (Fig.2/3) light up.
Proceed as follows to empty the catch basket (Fig. 5/2):
1. Open the door (Fig.5/1).
2. Remove the catch basket with the full bag.
3. Pull the bag out to its full length, tie it up and seal
it with adhesive tape or cable ties.
4. Remove the bag and dispose of it with the con-
tents.
5. Insert an empty bag in the basket.
6. Insert the basket back into the machine. Place the
basket correctly between the rails (Fig.5/3) and
push it to the rear wall.
7. Close the door.
¾The pilot lamp„Catch basket full“ goes out.
¾The machine is ready for operation.
NOTE!
The machine only runs if the door and the sa-
fety glass are closed!

4 Failure
CAUTION!
Risk of injury!
Remove material with caution, as sharp
edges present a risk of injury.
4.1 Material jam
If a jam occurs because too much material or too hard
a material is fed into the machine, it reacts as follows:
The cutting mechanism stops and stands still.
The pilot lamp (Fig.2/8) lights up.
Please proceed as follows:
1. Depress the reverse-button (Fig.2/2).
2. Open the safety glass (Fig.3/1).
3. Remove the material using the enclosed tongs.
4. Close the safety glass.
5. Feed the material again individually, one after ano-
ther.
4.2 Material is not drawn in
Depending on the material's surface nish, the machi-
ne may be unable to draw it in. The cutting mechanism
cannot always rmly grip straight and smooth objects
or very rounded objects.
In this case, please proceed as follows:
Reverse the cutting mechanism manually
1. Press the stop-button„S“ (Fig.2/3).
2. Depress the reverse-button (Fig.2/2).
3. Press the stop-button„S“.
4. Press the forward-button (Fig.2/1).
5. Repeat the steps 1 to 4 a few times. That helps in
many cases.
4.3 Material is not fully destroyed
In isolated cases, some material can remain on the cut-
ting mechanism. There are three possible reasons for
this:
The machine could not grip the object
In this case, see „Material is not drawn in“, p.13.
Too much material was fed
In this case, please proceed as follows:
1. Press the stop-button„S“.
2. Open the safety glass.
3. Remove the material using the enclosed tongs.
4. Close the safety glass.
5. Feed the objects again individually, one after ano-
ther.
The material fed was too tough
In this case, please proceed as follows:
1. Press the stop-button„S“.
2. Make sure the object fed corresponds to the area
of application (see „Area of application“, p. 10).
If it does not, remove the object from the cutting
mechanism.
3. If the object corresponds to the machine's area of
application, press the forward-button (Fig.2/1) to
restart the shredding process.
4.4 Motor protection
If the motor is overloaded, it shuts o. In such case
the pilot lamp„ready“ (Fig.2/7) ashes. After a cooling
time of about 15-20 minutes (depending on the model
and room temperature), you can restart the machine.
4.5 Failure checklist
If the device does not work, check the following items:
Is the power plug connected to the grid?
Is the door closed?
Is the mains switch (Fig.1) turned on?
Is the safety glass closed?
Is the catch basket full?
¾Follow the instructions under „Emptying the
catch basket“, p.12.
Is material jammed in the device?
¾Follow the instructions under „Material jam“,
p.13.
Can the cutting mechanism not grip the material?
¾Follow the instructions under „Material is not
drawn in“, p.13.
Does the shredding process not fully destroy the
material?
¾Follow the instructions under „Material is not ful-
ly destroyed“, p.13.
Has the motor been overloaded?
¾See „Motor protection“, p.13.
NOTE!
In many cases, restarting the machine helps:
1. Switch o the machine once.
2. Turn the machine on again.
If none of these test points apply, please notify your
intimus service partner.

5 Maintenance / Disposal

5.1 Lubricating the cutting mecha-
nism
Cross-cut cutting mechanisms must be lubricated re-
gularly after 20min of operation.
Lubricate the cutting mechanism:
1. Open the safety glass (Fig.4/1).
¾The pilot lamp „Safety glass open“ (Fig.2/9)
lights up.
2. With the included oil bottle, dispense a thin streak
of oil from left to right onto the cutting mecha-
nism.
3. Close the safety glass again.
¾The pilot lamp„Safety glass open“ goes out.
4. Press and hold the reverse button (Fig.2/2) for a
few seconds.
¾The oil is distributed on the cutting rollers.
¾The machine is now ready for operation again.
To reorder oil bottles, see „Accessories“, p.14.
5.2 Disposal of the machine
Always dispose of the machine at the end of its
service life in an environmentally responsible
way. Do not toss any part of the machine or its
packaging into the garbage.
