3.1IntendedUse
TheInvacareComfortslingsarenon-rigidbody-supportunits
totransferanindividualfromonesurfacetoanother.The
slingsareintendedtobecombinedwithapassiveliftusinga
looptohookattachmentwith2or4connectionpoints.
Theslingsarenotintendedtobeleftunderneaththepatient
afterthetransfer,excepttheComfortInSitusling.
Ahealthcareprofessionalorprivatepersonwhohasreceived
propertrainingistheintendedoperatorofthisproduct.

Theslingsareindicatedforthetransferofcompletelyor
partiallyimmobilepatientswiththefollowingminimum

SlingApplicationinLyingPosition
1.Turnthepatienttotheside.
2.Folduphalfoftheslingandplaceitalongthespine
withtheloweredgejustabovekneepit.Fig.2
3.Turnthepatienttotheothersideandunfoldthesling.
4.Turnthepatientonitsbackontotheslingandensure
themid-markersarealignedwiththespine.Fig.3
PositioningofPatientArms
Thearmsofthepatientmustbeplacedinsidethesling
4.3SlingAttachmenttotheLift
Thesuspensionstrapsoftheslingareequippedwithcolor
codedloopsprovidingdifferentlengthstoplacethepatient
intodifferentpositions.Shorterstrapsattheshoulders
andlongerstrapsatthelegswillproduceamorevertical
lift,whichwillassistatransferintoasittingposition.By
lengtheningthestrapsattheshouldersandshorteningthe
strapsatthelegs,amorereclinedpositioncanbeachieved
whichismoresuitableforatransferintoalyingposition.

5.1Inspection
DailyInspectionBeforeUse
Inspectiontobeperformeddaily,beforeuseandaftereach
laundering:
•Visuallyinspecttheslingandcheckallpartsforsignsof
damage,wearorpotentialfailure.
PeriodicInspection
IMPORTANT!
Inspectionsmustbeperformedbyaqualied
personwhoiswellacquaintedwiththedesign,
useandcareofslings.
Aperiodicsafetyinspectionoftheslingmustbeperformed
atleastevery6monthsunlessotherwisestatedinlocal
requirements.
Adetailedsafetyinspectionchecklistisavailablefrom
Invacareasaseparatedocument.
LOLERStatement
TheUKHealthandSafetyExecutive’sLiftingOperationsand
LiftingEquipmentRegulations1998,requireanyequipment
thatisusedintheworkplacetoliftaloadbesubjectto
safetyinspectiononasixmonthlybasis.Pleaserefertothe

Thepersonresponsiblefortheequipmentmustensure
adherencetoLOLERregulations.
5.2CleaningandDisinfection

–Aftereachlaundering,inspecttheslingfor
wear,tear,andloosestitching.
IMPORTANT!
Regularcleaninganddisinfectionprevents
contamination.
Cleananddisinfecttheproduct
–regularlywhileitisinuse,
–whenithasbeenincontactwithanybody
uids,
–beforeusingitforanewuser.
IMPORTANT!
Alwaysmakesurethattheproductiscompletely
driedbeforetakingitintouseagain.
CleaningInstructions
Launderanddrytheslingaccordingtothewashing
instructionsonthelabel.
Frequentuseofhightemperaturesandtumbledryingcan
reducetheservicelifeoftheproduct.
Werecommendtheuseofanordinaryhouseholdlaundry
detergent.Donotusesoftener.
Fordisinfection,selectadisinfectantthatiscompatible
withtheslingmaterialsandfollowtheinstructionsofthe
disinfectantmanufacturer.
6AfterUse
6.1StorageConditions
Theslingmustbestoredindryconditionswithamaximum
relativehumidityof50%andwithoutdirectsunlight.
6.2Reconditioning
Thisproductissuitableforreuse.Toreconditiontheproduct
foranewuser,carryoutthefollowingactions:

Makesurethattheusermanualishandedoverwiththe
product.
