
General Instructions: Warning
A risk assessment must be carried out to
ensure that the correct size and style of sling
has been met before use.
While every attempt is made to instruct
a safe transfer, you must conform to the
current manual handling procedures/
regulations.
If you are in any doubt consult your
Moving and Handling Advisor.
This is a short service sling and should be
changed regularly as all non woven materials
deteriorate quickly, therefore attention to the
points below should be followed.
Service Label & Sling Checks:
The Silvalea disposable sling range is labelled
with a Month & Year of manufacture.
Silvalea recommends that all disposable
slings are stored in a dry, controlled
environment away from any moisture, damp
and wetness and always within the original
plastic outer bag.
It is strongly recommended that the Silvalea
disposable slings are not stored for longer
than a 5 year period from date of purchase
– after which time they should be destroyed
and not used.
The Silvalea disposable sling range is used as
a short service sling only – please check your
sling before each use and withdraw from use
any sling showing signs of deterioration.
Washing Guidelines:
• DO NOT WASH
• DO NOT TUMBLE DRY
• DO NOT USE IN A DAMP ATMOSPHERE
• DO NOT IRON
• DO NOT SMOKE

Product Care:
• Do not use the short service sling for
bathing or showering a patient
• If the sling comes into contact with any
liquid dispose of the sling immediately
• Do not use the sling if you can see
deterioration of any kind
• Do not leave a patient in the sling
unattended
• If in doubt, do not use the sling (Always
ensure that the maximum load of the hoist
is not exceeded.)
Disposal of the Sling:
• Dispose of the sling if it has become soiled,
damaged or contaminated.
• This sling has been designed specically
for individual patient use – destroy the
sling once the patient has been discharged
in accordance with the local requirements
and regulations.
• If sling has been used on a patient with an
Infectious condition please refer to your
infection control procedure
