Once the sling has been tted correctly, thread the leg
straps through the pommel strap loops before attaching
to the lift. Then attach the shoulder straps to the spreader
bar of the lift.
Color coding on the pick up loops are provided for ease
of reference and position.
When attaching hip straps, the ideal pick up should
enable the pelvic area and the legs to pickup
simultaneously.
Adjustment can be made by using the color coded
connections to enable the best pick up.
Ensure that all straps are not twisted and are attached
securely before commencing the transfer.
You can now begin the transfer. Once the sling takes
the weight of the patient you may need to re-adjust
the position of the sling for the patient’s comfort.
Lower the patient back onto the chair/bed to make any
adjustments before continuing the transfer.

Attaching Hip Straps:
General Instructions: Warning
Do not attempt to transfer the patient until
all appropriate sling attachments are secured to
the lift spreader bar and you are satised that the
sling is the correct style, size and t for the patient.

too large could cause the patient to slip through the
aperture.
While every attempt is made to instruct a safe move
you must conform to the current moving and handling
procedures/regulations. If in any doubt, consult your
Moving and Handling Advisor.
