Tastic®
NOTE: This product must be installed by a qualified installer.
Read through these instructions completely before commencing installation.
The infra-red lamps heat by direct radiation rather than by heating the air in the room, so the Tastic
shouldbelocateddirectlyoverwheredryingoffoccurs.
LocatetheTasticinaccordancewiththerequirementsofthecurrentAustralian/NewZealandWiring
RulesAS/NZS3000relatingtodampsituations.
In some installations this may mean that no part of the Tastic may be located directly above any part of
abathorshowerrecessorenclosure.
ForunenclosedshowersrefertoWiringRulesconditions.
Switchesandothercontrolsmustnotbelocatedwheretheycanbetouchedbyapersoninthebath
orshower.
NOTE: Tastic products must only be installed horizontally in ceiling.
•Donotlookdirectlyintoheatlampswheninuse.

SAFETYFEATURES
Thermal switch:
WhenEcoTasticworksinFANOFFmodeandthetemperatureinsidetheunitreaches55°C,the
thermalswitchwillswitchonthefanautomatically.Whenthetemperaturedrops,thethermalswitch
willswitchoffthefan.
Thermal fuse:
Whenforanyreasonthetemperatureinsidetheunitreaches93°C,thethermalfusewillcutoffpower
to the Eco Tastic. In such a case the Service Centre should be called to replace the thermal fuse.
Do not allow insulation material to rest against the sides or top
of the Tastic unit when installed. This Tastic must not be installed
where there is a possibility of water splashing on to the lamps.
There is no IP rating on any IXL Tastic.

TheIXLTasticrangehasbeendesignedtoexactingstandardstogiveyoumanyyearsoftrouble-free
operation.ToensureyougetthemostfromyourTasticthereareafewsimplepointstokeepinmind.
HEATLAMPS
TheIXLTasticHeatLampshavenowarmupperiodbecausetheinfraredlampsprovideinstantaneous
heat,andaredesignedtoheatyouandnotyourbathroom-that’stheefcientwayinfraredheat
works.You’llsavemoneyandenergy,withanaveragecostofaroundonecentashowerifused
correctly,(basedonaverage5minutedryingtime).Also,togetthefullbenetofTastic’sinfrared
warmth,standdirectlyundertheheatlamps.IXL’sexclusiveclearheatlampshavebeendesigned
specicallyforthisapplication,andconcentratetheirheatformaximumeffectiveness.
Make sure you have the Tastic model that suits your bathroom ceiling height. This Tastic is
manufacturedtoofferpeakperformancewithbathroomceilingheightsupto2.4mfortheTriumph
11341,2.7mfortheSensation12343and3.3mfortheSilhouette12341.
TheTastichalfheatfunctionisavailableonthe4lampmodels,andisanotherenergysaver,allowing
you to adjust the heat level to suit prevailing conditions or personal preference.
VENTILATION
Toensureoptimumperformanceoftheexhaustfan,itisessentialthatthereisadequateairowinto
yourbathroomtohelptheTastic’spowerfulandefcientexhaustfantoquicklyremovesteamwhile
youshower.YourTasticworksbydrawingsteam-ladenairfromtheroom,andaswithallexhaustfans
itisessentialthatsufcientairinletisprovided.Ensureadequateinletsexistthroughwindows,vents
orunderthedoor.Airowpathfrominlettofanshouldideallypassoverthesteamsource.
CENTRELIGHT
The centre light in all Tastic models is designed to provide general illumination in your bathroom.
Forspecictaskslikeshavingorputtingmake-upon,youmayneedextralightingtosuityour
individual needs.
Heat lamps can also be used to provide additional bright illumination for your bathroom. Lighter
colouredwallsanddecoralsohelpbrightenyourbathroombyreectingmorelight.

Ventilation Requirements

Formaximumefciencyandfanperformancethere
areafewkeypointstokeepinmindwheninstalling
your Tastic.
Sufficient air inlet into room
Steamwillonlyberemovedifthereissufcientow
ofairthroughtheroom.Ensuregenerousinletsexist
throughwindows,ventsorunderthedoor.Airow
path from inlet to fan should ideally pass over the
steamsources(seeFig.1).
Adequateventilationinroofcavity
Itisessentialthatthereisadequatespacewithin
theroofcavitysothatexhaustairfromtheTastic
candissipate.Wherespaceisrestricted,useFig.3
as a guide to minimum requirements for adequate
ventilation.
Theroofcavityitselfshouldbewellventilatedto
outside so that moist air can be removed. Local
buildingcodesmayrequireueingtooutsidethrough
rooforasperFig.5(page8)foratroofinstallation.
Whereventilationspaceisrestricted
This product is not recommended for installation
betweenoorsofmulti-storeydwellings,orwhere
spacewithintheroofcavityisseverelyrestrictedand
aueasperFig.5cannotbetted.IXLhasother
Tastic products available that are particularly suited
toinstallationsbetweenoorsorwherespaceis

Seethewiringdiagramsonthefollowingpagesforsupplyrequirementsandmaximumloadingsfor
eachmodel.Tasticsmaybeconnectedtoalightingorpowercircuitifloadingpermits.Thesemodels
areforwired-ininstallationandwiringmustbecarriedoutbyaregisteredelectrician.*Switchesand
awallplateareprovidedwiththeTastic,attachedtotheunit.Removethelampsurroundforaccess.
Donotusethisproductwithanysolidstatespeedcontrolorcommercialdimmingdevice.
IMPORTANT: To ensure correct and safe operation of the Eco Tastics it is not recommended to use a
secondexhaustfanwiththeTastic.Ifasecondexhaustfanistobeuseditmustbewiredsothatitis
controlledbythesamefanswitchastheTastic,seecircuitdiagrams.
NOTE:“S/WAFAN-LOW”connectionisthepermanentactivesupplytotheunit.Itmustbeprovided
sotheunitcanfunctionasitwasdesignedtodoso.

Tastic units are fitted with a CFL centre lamp. To ensure
correct operation and to prolong the life of the CFL please wire as
per the following wiring diagrams for the appropriate model.

TheTasticmaybeinstalledbetweenjoistsusingtheinbuiltclipfasteners.Alternatively,theunitcan
beinstalledagainstajoistusingtwoscrewsthroughholeslocatedintheange(Fig.4onpage7),
providedthattheclearancesforthetwoverticalsidesaremaintainedasperFig.3onpage7.
Dependingonyourmodel,theTastichasaweightof2–3.5kg(seebelow).Ifadequatesupportisnot
availablefortheTastic,itmaybenecessarytoprovideextrastrengthening.

1. AfterdeterminingthelocationoftheTastic,usethe
cardincludedwithyourTasticCartonasatemplate
to mark out and cut an aperture in the ceiling.
Makesurethattemplateisparalleltoawall
2. Remove fascia from the body. Remove all lamps,
rubberbandandswitchesfrommotormounting
channel. Spin fan to check freedom of rotation.
3. Unscrewterminalcoverandmakenecessary
wiringconnections.Retterminalcover.Donot
turnonpowertoTastic.
4. PushTasticbodyintoceilingaperture,allowing
metalspringstosnapopen.AstheTasticisraised
into the ceiling, ensure electric cables do not rest
over the Tastic.
5. TosecuretheTasticinposition,pushlowerends
ofspringsapart(Fig10).Ceilingboardthickness
should be adjusted to enable springs to be fitted
withoutexcessiveforce.
FinalAssembly
1. Model 11341, fit fascia into position and hook
coil-springontofasciaasperFig.11.Models
12341and12343havesnaptfascia,however
the lamps and centre globe must be fitted in
these models prior to the fascia. The legs of the
lamp surround must rest freely on the ceiling.
Aclearanceofapproximately3-5mmshouldexist
betweentheceilingandouterrimofsurround.
2. Insert infra-red lamps and centre globe into socket
andscrewinwelltogivegoodelectricalcontact
to ensure correct operation.
3. Centralisefasciaandwipesurroundand
bulbs clean.
4. TurnonpowerandcheckoperationofTastic.

Replacement Lamps
Tastic®
The Sensation and Silhouette lamp surround must be removed prior to replacing lamps. Ensure lamps
arescrewedwellinafterreplacementtogivegoodelectricalcontact.
NOTE: Replacementwithanyotherlampsotherthanthoselistedbelowmaycausedamagetothe
mouldingandvoidthewarranty.

Maintenance of the Tastic is required to ensure the quality of the product and functions
are maintained.
It is recommended that the Tastic body, fascia and globes be checked and cleaned every 2 years.
Tocleanbulbsandlampsurrounduseadampclothwithliquidglasscleaner.Surroundsare
dishwashersafe.
CleaningandmaintenancewillhelptopreservethelifespanandperformanceoftheTastic.

ThisWarrantyagainstdefectsforyournewlypurchasedTasticproductisproudlypreparedby
SampfordIXLPtyLtdof421SmithStreet,Fitzroy,VIC3065,phone1300727421.
1. SampfordIXLTasticproductscomewithguaranteesthatdonotexcludethefollowing
consumerentitlementsundertheAustralianConsumerLaw:
a. replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably
foreseeablelossordamage;and
b. to have the goods repaired or replaced if goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the
failure does not amount to a major failure.
2. SampfordIXLwarrantsthatyourproductandrelatedsupplywillbefreefromdefectsin
materialsandworkmanshipduringthewarrantyterm.Yourwarrantytermisveyearswitha
twoyearheatlampreplacementwarranty,commencingfromthedateofpurchase.Sampford
IXLacknowledgesthisproductrequiresprofessionalinstallationandproductremovalis
hazardoustoconsumers,accordinglyanynecessaryinspectionsandserviceswillbecarried
outonsite.Youshouldnotattemptde-installation.
3. SubjecttoPoint1,SampfordIXLwillrepairanydefectsinmaterialsandworkmanshipduring
thewarrantytermandiftheproductisdeemedirreparableprovideareplacementofan
equivalentcurrentmodelwherethebalanceofthewarrantyperiodfromtheoriginaldateof
purchasewilltakeeffect.
4. TothefullestextentpermittedbylawandsubjectalwaystoPoint1,SampfordIXLwillnot
be liable for:
a.anylossordamagearisingfromlossofuse,lossofprotsorrevenue;or
b. for any indirect or consequential loss or damage resulting from any breach of this
warrantyagainstdefects.
5. DefectiveSampfordIXLTasticproductsmayberepairedusingrefurbishedpartsorif
required, completely replaced by a refurbished product of the same type.
LimitationstoYourIXLWarranty
6. SubjecttoPoint1,thisWarranty:
a.willonlybeprovidedtotheoriginalpurchaserwheretheoriginalpurchasewasmade
fromaSampfordIXLAuthorisedDealerorResellerandproofofsuchpurchasecanbe
presentedatthetimeofservice;
b.onlyappliestoSampfordIXLTasticproductspurchasedinAustraliafromaSampfordIXL
AuthorisedDealerorResellerandinstalledbyaqualiedpersonwhereaCerticateof
ComplianceinaccordancewithState/Territorylawsisprovided;
c.willnotapplywherethedefectinorfailureoftheproductisattributabletomisuse,
abuse, accident or non-observation of the manufacturer’s instructions. This product
mustbeusedinaccordancewiththemanufacturer’sinstructions;
d.willnotcoverfaultsduetonormalwearandtearwithreasonableusenorconsumable
componentssuchasglobes,lters,glassitems,etc;

e.willnotcoveranydamagesorproblemscausedtothisproductbynaturalforceseg.storm,
re,ood,andearthquake;orbyintrusionoraccumulation(orboth)offoreignmatters
eg. dust, soil, and moisture. Sampford IXL recommends that you take out appropriate
insurancestoprotectyourproducttothisend;
f. willnotapplyifthisproductisinstalledinamobiledwellingeg.caravanorboat;
g.willnotapplyifthisproductisremovedfromthelocationwhereitwasrstinstalled;
h.isimmediatelyvoidiftheserialormodelnumberlabelisremovedordefaced;
i. is immediately void if the product is serviced or repaired by an unauthorised/unqualified
personnel;
