USB COM Port Emulation Mode
To communicate with the HS-1RL using USB COM Port Emulation, scan the following code. This programs the HS-
1RL to emulate an RS-232-based COM port.
NOTE: Unplug the USB connector, then plug it back in to power cycle the unit after scanning this code.
Consult the User Guide to adjust other device settings.
Scan Barcodes and Read RFID Tags
The HS-1RL scans all popular 1D and 2D barcodes and a broad variety of Low Frequency (LF) RFID tags. For a full
list, see the product specification sheet and/or User Guide.
The HS-1RL cannot scan barcodes and read RFID tags simultaneously. If the unit is not triggered to read barcodes
(top trigger button is not pressed or not programmatically triggered), the unit is in RFID mode and is actively
scanning for RFID tags. Consult the User Guide to configure the device trigger mode and behaviors.
Scan the following code to revert the unit to its default settings. Hold down the trigger button until the LED flashes
green.
Clean the HS-1RL
Barcode reading performance may degrade if the scanner’s window is not clean. If the window is visibly dirty, or if
the scanner isn’t operating well, clean the window with a soft cloth or lens tissue dampened with water (or a mild
detergent and water solution). If a detergent solution is used, rinse with a clean lens tissue dampened with water
only.
The HS-1RL is IP54 rated when the cable is attached. This means that liquids and dust will not penetrate the
housing, however, the scanner should not be submerged in water or other liquids. It is also recommended to
dampen the cleansing cloth instead of spraying the scanner directly.
JADAK hand scanners are designed and manufactured to withstand the most popular cleaners used in the
healthcare market: Sani-Cloth® HB, Sani-Cloth® Plus, Hydrogen Peroxide, CaviWipes™, 409® Glass and Surface
Cleaner, Windex® Blue, Clorox® Bleach (100%), Isopropyl Alcohol, or gentle dish soap and water.
