»Before using the battery charger, read all instructions and cautionary markings on the battery charger, battery,
and on any product that uses the battery.
»When charging battery packs that are new or have been on a shelf for an extended period of time, the charger’s
status indicator may prematurely show “ready”.
»The BC-XP-1 battery charger should be used with Janam batteries (BA-XP-1 or BA-XP-2) only.

BC-XP-1 Product Guide
Janam’s BC-XP-1 is an independent, single bay battery charger or can be used with the UBC 3000*, a universal
four-station charging base.
To use as a stand-alone charger
a. Connect the power supply (PS-XP-BC) at the power supply receptacle on the charger.
b. Insert the appropriate AC plug adapter.
c. Plug the charger’s power supply into a power outlet.
d. Insert a battery (see page 5).
To install the BC-XP-1 in the UBC 3000 base:
a. Align and insert the BC-XP-1 into a slot in the base.
b. Slide the BC-XP-1 downward, locking it into place.
To remove the BC-XP-1 from the UBC 3000 base:
a. Press and hold the base lock tab located on the back of the BC-XP-1.
b. Slide the BC-XP-1 toward the top of the base and lift to remove.

Installing and Charging a Battery

Important Notes:
a. Use only Janam batteries (BA-XP-1 or BA-XP-2)
b. Do not charge a battery that is below 0°C (32°F). Battery should be at room temperature before charging.
Installing a battery
a. Note position of connectors and, holding battery with label facing up, place connector-end of battery into
battery track on the BC-XP-1.
b. Press opposite end of battery down to snap into place (battery lock tab will be pushed up slightly, allowing
battery to snap into place).
Removing a battery
a. Gently push and hold battery lock tab back (away from battery).
b. Grasp sides of battery, near the battery lock tab as you pull up on battery.
Charging a battery
a. The BA-XP-1 battery will fully charge in approximately three hours.
b. The BA-XP-2 battery will fully charge in approximately four hours.
c. A charged battery may be stored in the charger indefinitely.
Battery Status Indicators
Power — Solid green when power is available
Ready — Solid green when battery is ready
Charging or Fault — Solid yellow when battery is charging.

WARNING
To reduce risk of injury, use this charger only with Janam authorized products. Use with other products
or accessories may cause personal injury and/or damage.
– Do not expose the charger to rain, snow or direct sunlight.
–
Use the charger at room temperature 20°C (68°F) to 25°C (77°F).
– Place the charger in a well-ventilated area free of foreign objects/matter.
– To reduce risk of electric shock, unplug the charger from the outlet before cleaning.
– Dispose of used batteries in accordance with local hazardous material laws.
– Do not disassemble, incinerate, modify or short circuit batteries, charger or related components.
Symptom/Situation Possible Cause(s) Corrective Action/Solution
Battery rejection
Flashing yellow
Faulty condition identified.
Over discharge of battery.
Defective battery.
Remove battery from charger. Contact your local JanamCare service

Full charge indicated

Faulty battery.
New battery.
Retry. If persists, remove battery from charger. Contact your local

Condition mode
Solid yellow
Battery too hot.
Battery already discharged.

Allow battery to charge and try to condition.
Remove battery from charger. Contact your local JanamCare service

Battery becomes hot Defective battery. Immediately remove battery from charger and dispose of properly.
