Cooking Safety

• “MEd”(MediumSoil,3hours)isdisplayed.
4. PresstheAutoset padto scrollthroughtheself-cleaning
settings.
“HVy”(HeavySoil,4hours)

Choosingthesoilleveloftheovenautomaticallyprograms
theself-cleaningtime.
5. Afterfourseconds,theovenwillstartcleaning.
• Ifthedoorisnotclosed,beepswillsound and‘door’will
display. Ifthedoorisnotclosedwithin30seconds,the
self-cleaningoperationwillbecanceledandthedisplay
willreturntothetimeofday.

To Delay a Self-Clean Cycle:
1. PresstheDelay pad once forupperovenor
twice forloweroven.
• DELAYflashes.
• 00:00andUPPERorLOWERwillflashinthedisplay.
2. Entertheamountoftimeyouwanttodelaythecycle
usingtheappropriatenumberpads.
3. PresstheappropriateClean pad.
• SETflashesinthedisplay.
Self-Clean Oven
CAUTION
• Itisnormalforpartsoftheovento becomehotduringa
self-cleancycle.
• Topreventdamagetoovendoor,do not attempttoopen
thedoorwhenLOCKisdisplayed.
• Avoidtouchingdoor,windoworovenventareaduringa
cleancycle.
•Do not usecommercialovencleanersontheovenfinish
oraroundanypartoftheoven. Theywilldamagethe
finishorparts.
Theself-cleancycleusesabove-normalcookingtemperatures
toautomaticallycleanthe oveninterior.
Theovenshouldbecleanedregularlybywipingupspillovers
topreventexcessivesmokeandflare-ups. Do not allowa
heavybuild-upofsoiltoaccumulateintheoven.
Duringthecleaningprocess,thekitchenshouldbewell
ventilatedtogetridofnormalodorsassociatedwithcleaning.
Before Self-Cleaning
1. Turnofftheoven lightbefore cleaning.Theovenlightmay
burnoutduringthecleancycle.
2. Removebroilerpan,allpans,andovenracksfromthe
oven. Theovenrackswilldiscolorandmaynotslideeasily
afteraself-cleancycleiftheyarenotremoved.
3. Cleanovenframe,doorframe,area
outsideofgasket,andaroundthe
openinginthedoorgasketwitha
nonabrasivecleanersuchasBon
Ami*ordetergentandwater. The
self-cleaningprocessdoesnot
cleantheseareas. Theyshouldbe
cleanedtopreventsoilfrombakingonduringthe clean
cycle. (Thegasketisthesealaroundtheovendoorand
window.)
4. Topreventdamage,do not cleanorrubthegasketaround
theovendoor. Thegasketisdesignedtosealinheat
duringthecleancycle.
5. Wipeupexcessgreaseorspill-oversfromtheoven
bottom. Thispreventsexcessivesmoking,flare-upsor
flamingduringthecleancycle.
6. Wipeupsugaryandacidicspilloverssuchassweet
potatoes,tomato,ormilk-basedsauces.Porcelainenamel
isacid-resistant,notacid-proof. Theporcelainfinishmay
discolorifacidicorsugaryspillsarenotwipedupbefore a
self-cleancycle.

Choosingthesoilleveloftheovenautomaticallyprograms
theself-cleaningtime.
6. Afterfourseconds,CLEAN,DELAYandUPPERorLOWER
willlightandLOCKwillflashinthedisplay. When the
ovendoorlatches,LOCKwillstopflashingandlight
continuouslytoshowthattheovenissetforadelayed
cleanoperation. Thedelaytimewilldisplay.
Notes:
• Ifanovendoorisleftopen,“door”willappearinthe
displayandasignalwillbeepuntilthedoorisclosed
andtheCleanpadispressedagain.
• Ifmorethan30secondselapsebetweenpressingthe
CleanpadandtheAutosetpad,theprogramwill
automaticallyreturntothepreviousdisplay.
• Theovendoorswillbedamagediftheovendoorsare
forcedtoopenwhen LOCKisstilldisplayed.
During the Self-Clean Cycle
WhenLOCKshowsinthedisplay,bothovendoorslock. To
preventdamagetothedoors,do not forcethedoorsopen
whenLOCKisdisplayed.
Smoke and Smells
Youmayseesomesmokeandsmellanodor thefirstfew
timestheoveniscleaned. Thisisnormalandwill lessenin
time.
Smokemayalsooccuriftheovenisheavilysoiledorifa
broilerpanwasleftintheoven.
Sounds
Astheovenheats,youmayhearsoundsof metalparts
expandingandcontracting. Thisisnormalandwillnot
damagetheoven.
After Self-Cleaning
Aboutonehouraftertheendoftheself-cleancycle,LOCK
willturnoff. Thedoorscanthenbeopened.
Some soil may leave a light gray, powdery ash. Remove
itwithadampcloth. Ifsoilremainsafterwiping,thatmeans
thecleancyclewasnotlongenough. Thesoilwillbe
removedduringthenextcleancycle.
If oven racks were left in the oven and do not slide
smoothly after a clean cycle,wiperacksand racksupports
withasmallamountofvegetableoiltomakethemeasierto
move.
Fine lines may appear in the porcelain because it went
through heating and cooling. Thisisnormalandwillnot
affectperformance.
A white discoloration may appear after cleaning if acidic
or sugary foods were not wiped up before the self-clean
cycle. Thisdiscolorationisnormalandwillnotaffect
performance.

Clock and Control Pad Area
• Toactivate“ControlLock”forcleaning,seepage13.
• Wash,rinseanddry.Do not useabrasivecleaningagents
astheymayscratchthefinish.
• Glasscleanersmaybeusedifsprayedonaclothfirst.DO
NOT spray directly on control pad and display area.
Control Knobs
• RemoveknobsintheOFFpositionbypullingup.
• Wash,rinseanddry.Do not useabrasivecleaningagentsas
theymayscratchthefinish.Turnoneachburnertobesurethe
knobshavebeencorrectlyreplaced.
Backguard,CooktopandControlPanel-PorcelainEnamel
Porcelainenamelisglassfusedonmetalandmaycrackorchip
withmisuse.Itisacid-resistant,notacid-proof.Allspillovers,
especially acidic or sugary spillovers, should be wiped up
immediatelywithadrycloth.
• Whencool,washwithsoapywater,rinseanddry.
•Never wipeoffawarmorhotsurfacewithadampcloth.This
maycausecrackingorchipping.
•Neveruseovencleaners,abrasiveorcausticcleaningagents
onexteriorfinishofrange.
Side Panels, Painted Enamel
• Whencool,washwithwarmsoapywater,rinseanddry.Never
wipe a warm or hot surface with a damp cloth as this may
damagethesurfaceandmaycauseasteamburn.
• Forstubbornsoil,usemildlyabrasive cleaningagentssuch
asbakingsodapasteorBonAmi*.Do not useabrasive
cleanerssuchassteelwoolpadsorovencleaners.These
productswillscratchorpermanentlydamage thesurface.
Important: Use a dry towel or cloth to wipe up spills,
especially acidic or sugary spills. Surface may discolor
or dull if soil is not immediately removed. This is
especially important for white surfaces.
Oven Windows and Doors - Glass
• Avoidusingexcessiveamountsofwater whichmayseep
underorbehindglass,causingstaining.
