IMPRESSA C9 – Quick Reference Guide
The ‘IMPRESSA Manual’ together with these short instruc-
tions ‘IMPRESSA C9 – Quick Reference Guide’ has been
awarded the seal of approval by the independent German
Technical Inspection Agency, TÜV SÜD, due to its easy-to-
understand style, its thoroughness and coverage of safety
aspects.

These short instructions do not replace the ‘IMPRESSA C9 Manual’.
Make sure you read and observe the safety information and warn-
ings first in order to avoid hazards.
Precondition:YourIMPRESSAisswitchedonatthepowerswitchand
the indicator light is illuminated (standby).
Q T Press the On/Off button to switch the IMPRESSA on.
HEATING is displayed.
PRESS RINSE, the maintenance button clights up.
TPlace a receptacle under the coffee spout.
c T Press the maintenance button.
RINSING, the machine rinses.
Preparation stops automatically. READY appears on the
display.
YourIMPRESSAnolongerhastobedescaledifyouareusingCLARIS
filter cartridges.
EPerformthe‘Insertfilter’operationwithoutinterruptions.This
will ensure that your IMPRESSA always produces its best.
Precondition: READY is displayed.
TOpen the cover of the Rotary Switch.
k T Keep the Rotary Switch pressed until RINSE appears on
the display.
g T Turn the Rotary Switch until FILTER - is displayed.
k T Press the Rotary Switch to enter the programme item.
NO -
g T Turn the Rotary Switch until YES w is displayed.
k T Press the Rotary Switch to confirm the setting.
OK appears briefly on the display to confirm the setting.
INSERT, the maintenance button clights up.
TClose the cover of the Rotary Switch.
TRemove the CLARIS filter cartridge from the Welcome Pack.
TRemove the water tank and empty it.

TLift the cartridge holder and insert the filter cartridge into
the water tank, applying slight pressure.
TClose the cartridge holder. It will click into place audibly.
TFill the water tank with fresh, cold water and reinsert.
TPlace a receptacle (at least 500 ml) under the frother.
c T Press the maintenance button.
FILTER RINSING. Water will flow out of the frother.
EYou can interrupt rinsing of the filter at any time by pressing
any button.
EThe water may be slightly discoloured. This is not harmful to
health and does not affect the taste.
Filter rinsing stops automatically after approx. 500 ml.
HEATING appears on the display, then READY is dis-
played. The filter is now activated.
EAfter 50 litres of water have flowed through, or after two
months,thefilterwillceasetowork.YourIMPRESSAwillauto-
matically prompt you to change the filter.
EIf the CLARIS filter cartridge is not activated, you will not be
prompted to change the filter.
To change the CLARIS filter cartridge when prompted to do so by
your IMPRESSA, proceed as follows:
Precondition: READY / FILTER is displayed and the mainte-
nance button clights up.
c T Press the maintenance button.
CHANGE
TRemove the water tank and empty it.
TOpenupthecartridge holderandremovethe old CLARIS fil-
ter cartridge.

TInsert a new CLARIS filter cartridge into the water tank,
pressing it slightly.
TClose the cartridge holder. It will click into place audibly.
TFill the water tank with fresh, cold water and reinsert.
TPlace a receptacle (at least 500 ml) under the frother.
EIf you are using the Professional Cappuccino Frother, set the
selection lever of the frother to the steam position n.
c T Press the maintenance button.
FILTER RINSING – Water will flow out of the frother.
EYou can interrupt filter rinsing at any time. To do this, press
any button.
EThe water may be slightly discoloured. This is not harmful to
health and does not affect the taste.
Filter rinsing stops automatically after approx. 500 ml. The
IMPRESSA heats up and is once again ready to use.
After 200 coffee preparations or 80 switch-on rinses, the IMPRESSA
will prompt you to clean it.
Ifthewrongcleaningagentisused,the machinecouldbedamaged
and/or traces of detergent could be left behind in the water.
TUse only original JURA care products.
EThe cleaning programme only lasts about 20 minutes.
EDo not interrupt the cleaning programme. The quality of
cleaning will be impaired if you do so.
EJURA cleaning tablets are available from stockists.

Precondition:READY /CLEAN isdisplayed and the maintenance
button clights up.
c T Press the maintenance button.
EMPTY TRAY
TEmpty the drip tray and coffee grounds container and put
them back into the machine.
PRESS RINSE, the maintenance button clights up.
TPlace a receptacle under the coffee spout and the frother.
c T Press the maintenance button.
CLEANING, water flows from both coffee spouts.
The process is interrupted, ADD TABLET.
TOpen the cover of the filler funnel for pre-ground coffee.
TInsert a JURA cleaning tablet into the filler funnel.
TClose the cover of the filler funnel.
c T Press the maintenance button.
CLEANING, water flows from both coffee spouts several
times.
The process is interrupted – EMPTY TRAY.
TEmpty the drip tray and coffee grounds container and put
them back into the machine.
The cleaning operation is now complete. The IMPRESSA is
ready for use again.
The IMPRESSA builds up deposits of limescale over time and auto-
matically prompts you to descale it when necessary. The degree of
calcification depends on the degree of hardness of your water.
If the descaling agent comes into contact with the skin or eyes, this
can cause irritation.
TAvoid contact with the skin or eyes.
TRinsethedescalingagentoff withcleanwater.Shouldyouget
any descaling agent in your eye, see a doctor.
If the wrong descaling agent is used, the machine could be dam-
aged and/or traces of detergent could be left behind in the water.
TUse only original JURA care products.

If the descaling operation is interrupted, there may be damage to
the machine.
TAllow the descaling program to run to the end.
If the descaling agent comes into contact with sensitive surfaces,
damage cannot be ruled out.
TClean up any splashes immediately.
EThe descaling programme lasts approx. 45 minutes.
EJURA descaling tablets are available from stockists.
EIf you use a CLARIS filter cartridge and this is activated, you
will not be prompted to change the filter.
Precondition:READY /DE-SCALE is displayedandthemainte-
nance button clights up.
c T Press the maintenance button.
EMPTY TRAY
TEmpty the drip tray and coffee grounds container and put
them back into the machine.
AGENT IN TANK
TRemove the water tank and empty it.
TCompletelydissolvethe contents of one blister (3 JURA des-
calingtablets)in acontainerthatholds500mlofwater.This
may take several minutes.
TPour the solution into the empty water tank and insert it in
the machine.
AGENT IN TANK, the maintenance button clights up.
TRemove the frother.
TPlaceareceptacle(atleast500ml)undertheConnectorSys-
tem©.
c T Press the maintenance button.
DE-SCALING
Thiscauseswatertoflowout of the ConnectorSystem©sev-
eral times. The maintenance button blinks during the des-
caling operation.
The operation stops automatically, EMPTY TRAY.
TEmpty the receptacle under the Connector System©.

TEmpty the drip tray and coffee grounds container and put
them back into the machine.
FILL WATER TANK
TRemove the water tank and rinse it thoroughly.
TFill the water tank with fresh, cold mains water and rein-
sert.
PRESS RINSE, the maintenance button clights up.
TReplace the frother.
TPlace a receptacle under the frother.
c T Press the maintenance button.
DE-SCALING, water flows out of the frother.
The operation stops automatically, EMPTY TRAY.
TEmpty the drip tray and coffee grounds container and put
them back into the machine.
The descaling operation is now complete. Your IMPRESSA
heats up and is once again ready to use.
EIf the descaling operation stops unexpectedly, rinse the water
tank thoroughly.
To ensure that the Easy Cappuccino Frother works perfectly, you
should rinse it with water whenever you have prepared some milk.
YourIMPRESSAwillpromptyoutorinsetheEasyCappuccinoFrother
10 minutes after you have prepared milk.
Precondition:CAPPUCCINO RINSE isdisplayedandthemain-
tenance button clights up.
TPlace a receptacle under the Easy Cappuccino Frother.
c T Press the maintenance button.
CAPPUCCINO RINSING, the frother is rinsed.
Preparation stops automatically. READY appears on the

To ensure that the Easy Cappuccino Frother works perfectly, you
should clean it daily when you have been preparing milk.
Ifthewrongcleaningagentisused,the machinecouldbedamaged
and/or traces of detergent could be left behind in the water.
TUse only original JURA care products.
EThe JURA Cappuccino Cleaner is available from stockists.
EThe IMPRESSA will not prompt you to clean the frother.
Precondition: READY is displayed.
TRemove the milk pipe from the milk carton/bottle or the
milk container.
TOpen the cover of the Rotary Switch.
k T Keep the Rotary Switch pressed until RINSE appears.
k T Press the Rotary Switch to enter the programme item.
C CLEANING
k T Press the Rotary Switch.
CAPPUCCINO CLEANER
TPour250mloffreshwaterintoacontainerandaddonecap-
ful (max. 15 ml) of Cappuccino Cleaner.
TImmerse the milk pipe in the receptacle.
TPlace another receptacle under the frother.
c T Press the maintenance button.
CLEANING, the frother and pipe are cleaned. The opera-
tion stops automatically.
WATER FOR CAPPUCCINO
TRinse the receptacle thoroughly, fill it with approx. 250 ml
of fresh water and immerse the milk pipe in the water.
TEmpty the other receptacle and place it under the frother
once more.
c T Press the maintenance button.
CLEANING, the frother and pipe are rinsed with fresh
water. The operation stops automatically.
READY appears on the display.
TClose the cover of the Rotary Switch.

TCarefully remove the frother from the Connector System©
by twisting slightly.
TDismantle the frother completely.
TRinse all the frother parts thoroughly under running water.
TReassemble the frother.
EEnsure that the individual parts are correctly and firmly
attached to one another to ensure optimum function of the
frother.
TFirmly attach the frother to the Connector System©.
To ensure that the Professional Cappuccino Frother works perfectly,
you should rinse it with water whenever you have prepared some
milk.
Your IMPRESSA will prompt you to rinse the Professional Cappuc-
cino Frother 10 minutes after you have prepared milk.
Precondition:CAPPUCCINO RINSE isdisplayedandthemain-
tenance button clights up.
TPlace a receptacle under the Professional Cappuccino
Frother.
c T Press the maintenance button.
CAPPUCCINO RINSING, the frother is rinsed.
Preparation stops automatically. READY appears on the
