Safety Warnings
• A minimum distance of 5 cm around the
unit should be maintained to allow for
sucient ventilation.
• Do not install or place this unit in a
bookcase, built-in cabinet or in another
conned space. Ensure the unit is well
ventilated.
Safety
• Always disconnect the unit from the mains
supply before connecting/disconnecting
other devices or moving the unit.
• Unplug the unit from the mains socket
during a lightning storm.
• In the interests of safety and to avoid
unnecessary energy consumption,
never leave the unit switched on while
unattended for long periods of time, e.g.
overnight, while on holiday or while out of
the house. Switch it o and disconnect the
mains plug from the mains socket.
Mains Cable
• Make sure the unit or unit stand is not
resting on top of the mains cable, as the
weight of the unit may damage the mains
cable and create a safety hazard.
• If the mains cable is damaged it must be
replaced by the manufacturer, its service
agent, or similarly qualied persons in
order to avoid a hazard.
Interference
• Do not place the unit on or near appliances
which may cause electromagnetic
interference. If you do, it may adversely aect
the operating performance of the unit,
and cause a distorted picture or sound.
Batteries
• Batteries used in the remote control for this
unit are easily swallowed by young children
and this is dangerous.
• Keep loose batteries away from young
children and make sure that the battery
holder tray is secure in the remote control.
Seek medical advice if you believe a cell
has been swallowed.
• Please dispose of batteries correctly by
following the guidance in this manual.
Supervision
• Children should be supervised to ensure
that they do not play with the unit and the
remote control.
• Read all the instructions carefully before
using the unit and keep them for future
reference.
• Retain the manual. If you pass the unit
onto a third party make sure to include this
manual.
• Check that the voltage marked on the
rating label matches your mains voltage.
Damage
• Please inspect the unit for damage after
unpacking.
• Do not continue to operate the unit if you
are in any doubt about it working normally,
or if it is damaged in any way – switch o,
withdraw the mains plug and consult
your dealer.
Location of Unit
• The unit must be placed on a at stable
surface and should not be subjected to
vibrations.
• Do not place the unit on sloped or unstable
surfaces as the unit may fall o or tip over.
• The mains socket must be located near the
unit and should be easily accessible.
• This unit is designed for indoor, domestic
use only.
Temperature
• Avoid extreme degrees of temperature,
either hot or cold. Place the unit well away
from heat sources such as radiators or
gas/electric res.
• Avoid exposure to direct sunlight and other
sources of heat.
Naked Flames
• Never place any type of candle or naked
ame on the top of or near the unit.
Moisture
• To reduce the risk of re, electric shock or
product damage, do not expose this unit
to rain, moisture, dripping or splashing.
No objects lled with liquids, such as vases,
should be placed on the unit.
• If you spill any liquid into the unit, it can
cause serious damage. Switch it o at the
mains immediately. Withdraw the mains
plug and consult your dealer.
Ventilation
• To prevent the risk of electric shock or
re hazard due to overheating, ensure
that curtains and other materials do not
obstruct the ventilation vents.

2. Insert two AAA size batteries. Make sure the (+) and (–)
ends indicated in the battery compartment.
Preparation
Battery Replacement for the Remote Control
1. Press and hold the button at the back of the remote
control to open the back cover.
Handling the Battery
• Improper or incorrect use of batteries may cause corrosion or battery leakage, which could
cause re, personal injury or damage to property.
• Only use the battery type indicated in this manual.
• Do not install new batteries with used ones and do not mix dierent types of batteries.
• Do not dispose of used batteries as domestic waste. Dispose of them in accordance with
local regulations.
• Do not expose the batteries to excessive heat such as sunshine, re or the like.
Handling the Remote Control
• Do not drop the remote control.
• Do not allow anything to impact the remote control.
• Do not spill water or any liquid on the remote control.
• Do not place the remote control on a wet object.
• Do not place the remote control under direct sunlight or near sources of excessive heat.
• Remove the battery from the remote control when not in use for a long period of time, as corrosion or
battery leakage may occur and result in physical injury, and/or property damage, and/or re.
• When the battery is exhausted, the remote control will not function.
3. Replace the back cover.
Ensure the back cover is correctly positioned. Incorrect
installation will damage the remote control.

If you install the unit on rack, etc., the remote controllable range may decrease depending on the
thickness or colour of glass door of rack.
• The infrared remote sensor may not function correctly when exposed to direct sunlight or other
strong light sources.
Connections
Connecting the FM/DAB Aerial
Connect the supplied FM/DAB Aerial to the FM/DAB Aerial socket on the rear of the unit by
turning the aerial screw cap clockwise.
• Do not overtighten, this could
damage the aerial.
• For the best reception, fully
extend the aerial and make sure
it is away from any electrical
devices that could cause
interference.
• To avoid noise, keep aerial away
from the unit, the connecting
cables and the mains cable.

Speaker Connections
1. Connect the speaker cables between the terminals as shown below.
2. Connect the cables with the black labels to the black capped (–) terminals and cables
with the red labels to the red capped (+) terminals.
How to Connect
• Turn the terminal cap counterclockwise to loosen it. The speaker terminal caps cannot
be fully removed from the base.
• Insert the wire into the terminal fully.
• Turn the terminal cap clockwise to securely connect it.

If you experience sound problems, check that the speaker cables are connected
to the correct coloured terminal.

Connecting Auxiliary Equipment
Connect the AUX IN terminals on the rear of the main unit to the AUX output terminals on
the auxiliary equipment with an RCA stereo audio cable illustrated below.

Connecting to the Mains Supply
1. Fully unwind the mains cable.
2. Connect the AC~ socket to the rear of the unit, then connect the mains plug to the
mains socket.
• Ensure all audio connections have been made before connecting the unit to mains power.
• Install the unit near a mains socket where the mains adapter can be easily reached.
• To switch the unit o completely, remove the mains plug from the mains socket.
• To save energy, turn the unit o completely when not in use.

Basic Operation
Switching ON/OFF
When rst switched on, the unit will be in Standby mode. The display will ash ”–– –– : –– ––“
• Press STANDBY on the unit or on the remote control to switch the unit on. The
word “HELLO”will appear on the display and scroll across. A countdown of 10 seconds
starts for preheating the system. It will then switch to the last selected sound source
and level (if the previously set sound level was lower than 5, the sound level will
automatically be set to level 5).
• Press STANDBY on the unit or on the remote control to switch the unit back into
standby mode. The words“BYE BYE”(normal standby mode) or “ECOPOWER” (ECO-
power standby mode) will scroll across the display, then the standby indicator will glow
red. The clock will be displayed for a few minutes in normal standby mode before the
unit switches to ECO-Power.
• To switch the unit o completely, remove the mains plug from the mains socket.
• To save energy, turn the unit o completely when not in use.
ECO-Power Mode
This unit features an ECO-Power/Standby mode. It automatically turns to Standby mode
after 15 minutes if the unit is idle in BT, AUX, DISC (CD) or USB mode or the external unit is
disconnected, switched o or the volume is too close to mute.
Press and hold STANDBY on the unit or on the remote control to switch between ECO
Power and normal standby. ”ECOPOWER“ will appear on the display when it is switched on.
To save energy, in ECO-Power mode the clock will not be displayed. If you want to display
the clock during standby mode, you can press the CLOCK button. The clock display will
disappear after 90 seconds.
Selecting Modes
Press the SOURCE button on the unit to switch between AUX, DAB, TUNER (FM), DISC,
USB and BT (Bluetooth®) modes. The selected mode will show on the display.
Alternatively, you can directly press the followings buttons on the remote control to switch to your
desired mode:

all operations described are based on remote control use.

Adjusting the Speaker Volume Levels and Sound Eects
Adjusting the Volume
To increase or decrease the volume, turn the – VOLUME + dial on the unit or press the
VOL + / –buttons on the remote control.
Mute
To temporarily mute the sound press the button. Press the button again, or press
VOL +/– to resume normal listening.
Preset Equalizer
You can choose from 5 preset equalizer settings: FLAT/POP/JAZZ/CLASSIC/ROCK/
LOUDNESS.
Press the EQ button on the remote control repeatedly to select the desired setting.
Adjusting the Bass
On the unit press the BASS button, then turn the –VOLUME + to adjust.
If bass adjusted, preset equalizer function is not available.
Adjusting the Treble
On the unit press the TREBLE button, then turn the – VOLUME + to adjust.
If treble adjusted, preset equalizer function is not available.
Adjusting the Display Brightness
Press DIM to scroll through the 3 brightness levels.

• In standby mode, press CLOCK to display the time for approx 90 seconds.
• If unit is on, press CLOCK to briey display the time.
Sleep Timer
This function allows you to program the unit to switch o by itself after a set period of time.
By setting the sleep timer, you can fall asleep to music and know that your unit will turn o
by itself rather than play all night.
1. Press TIMER/SLEEP repeatedly to select your desired number of minutes. The number
of minutes shown will display in this sequence:
SLEEP 15SLEEP OFF SLEEP 30
SLEEP 120 SLEEP 90 SLEEP 60 SLEEP 45
2. Press SLEEP to view the remaining time before switch o.
3. To cancel the sleep timer, press TIMER/SLEEP repeatedly until “SLEEP OFF” shows on
the display.
Clock Operation
The clock on this unit can automatically synchronize with the time transmitted by either
DAB or some FM radio stations, so there is no need to set it manually.
Clock Synchronization
In TUNER (FM) or DAB mode, press and hold INFO, then press either or to select
either AUTO SYNC or MANUAL SYNC.
Manually Setting the Clock
1. In Standby or ECO-Power mode, press and hold the CLOCK button until “CLOCK SET”
shows on the display. The word “CLOCK” appears on the display and “24” begins to
blink. Press VOL +/–buttons or / buttons to set the 12 or 24 hour format.
2. Press the CLOCK button, the hour indicator will blink. Press VOL +/–buttons or /
buttons to set the hour.
3. Press the CLOCK button, the minute indicator will blink. Press VOL +/–buttons or /
buttons to set the minutes.
4. Press the CLOCK button to conrm.
Time Display
• If the unit is set to ECO-Power standby, setting the clock will cancel this function.
• To exit timer setting mode without altering the clock settings, press the button.
• If no button is pressed in approx 90 seconds, the unit exits clock setting mode automatically.
• If a power failure occurs or the unit is disconnected from the mains, the clock setting will be lost.

• To exit timer setting mode without storing, press the button.
• If no button is pressed in 90 seconds, the unit exits clock setting mode automatically.
• If TUNER (FM) or USB source is selected and the audio cannot be played, FM is activated
automatically.
• If TUNER (FM) or DAB source is selected, the sound level will x on level 5 if the previous sound level
is lower than 5.
Daily Timer
This function allows you to program the unit to automatically switch on from standby at a
certain time everyday.
1. In Standby mode, press and hold TIMER/SLEEP until “TIMER SET“ scrolls across the
display. The unit will switch on to the last selected source.
2. Press VOL +/–or / repeatedly on the remote control to select a source.
3. Press TIMER/SLEEP, the hour indicator will ash. Press VOL +/–or / to set the hour.
4. Press TIMER/SLEEP, the minute indicator will ash. Press VOL +/–or / to set the
minutes.
5. Press TIMER/SLEEP, the volume indicator will ash. Press VOL +/–or / to adjust the
alarm volume.
6. Press TIMER/SLEEP to conrm.
To Deactivate or Re-activate a Daily Timer
In Standby mode, repeatedly press TIMER/SLEEP on the remote control to activate or
deactivate the timer.
DAB Radio Operation
Press the SOURCE button on the unit or press FM/DAB on the remote control to select DAB
source. “DAB” will appear on the display.
1. The rst time the unit is switched on to DAB mode the unit will automatically start
scanning. The display will show“SCANNING”.
2. After the scan has nished, the rst alphanumerically found station will be
automatically selected.
3. All the stations that have been found will be stored automatically. To explore the found
stations, press / . The station will automatically play.
Auto Scan
Auto scan will automatically search for all available DAB channels.
1. Press SCAN/A-B. The display will show “SCANNING”then indicate the progress of the scan.
2. Once the scan is complete the unit will display the total number of stations found. These
stations are stored automatically and the rst alphanumerically found station will play.

Manual Tuning
You can also manually tune the unit, which can help if you know your unit has missed
stations while auto tuning. You will need to know which multiplex the missing radio station
is in.
1. Press and hold the button to select Manual tune mode.
2. Press / to cycle through each DAB multiplex, which are numbered from 5A to
13F.
3. After your desired multiplex number is selected, press the button to conrm, the
display will now show‘TUNING’. The unit will start to scan.
4. You won’t see any new radio stations or hear anything while in manual tune mode.
To nd the newly tuned in stations, search through the station list.
Secondary Services
If you see a “>”symbol after the name of a station, this indicates that there are secondary
services available to that station. These secondary services contain extra services that are
related to the primary station. e.g. a sports station may want to add extra commentaries.
The secondary services are inserted directly after the primary station in the station list.
For a secondary channel to be found during an auto scan it must be broadcasting when the
scan takes place.
When the secondary service ends, the unit will automatically switch back to the primary station.
Presetting Stations
You can store up to 30 stations to the memory, allowing access to your favourite stations
quickly and easily.
1. To store a preset, you must rst be listening to the station that you want to save.
2. Press PROGRAM to activate program mode. The preset number “P##” will blink.
3. Press ALBUM/PRESET /to select the desired station preset number.
4. Press PROGRAM again to store the station, the display will show “P##SAVED”.
Recalling a Preset Station
You can recall any saved station by pressing ALBUM/PRESET / .

DAB Information Display
You can view the DAB service information in the following modes. Depending on the DAB
radio station you are tuned into, some information modes may be unavailable. Press the
INFO button repeatedly on the remote control to view the following information.

Ensemble Name
Station Name
When a radio station is received, the name of that
station will be displayed.
Ensemble Name
A multiplex is a collection of radio stations that are
bundled and transmitted on one frequency. There
are national and local multiplexes. Local ones contain
stations that are specic to that area.
DAB – unlike normal radio, groups together several radio
stations and transmits them on one frequency.
Time
This displays the current time provided automatically
by the broadcaster.
Date
This displays the current date provided automatically
by the broadcaster.
DLS (Dynamic Label Segment)
Dynamic label segment is a scrolling message that
the broadcaster may include with their transmissions.
The message usually includes information, such as
programme details etc.
Signal Strength
This shows the signal strength, from 0 (no signal)
to 100 (full strength signal).
Programme Type
This describes the style or genre of the programme
that is being broadcast.
Frequency
This shows the frequency of the current station.
Audio Bit Rate
The display will show the digital audio bit rate being
received.
Stereo/Mono
The display will show if the station being received is
in mono or stereo.

Manual Tuning
Press / repeatedly to change the frequency until you nd the station you want.
FM Radio Operation
• Make sure the aerial is correctly connected and fully extended, away from
any electrical devices that could cause interference.
• If reception is still poor, try to adjust the FM/DAB aerial location.
The search may not stop at a station with a very weak signal.
With FM radio it may be necessary to ne tune each station by pressing /repeatedly. Each press will
adjust the frequency by 0.05MHz. If reception is still poor adjust the position of the aerial or try moving
the unit to another location.
Press the SOURCE button on the unit or press FM/DAB button on the remote control to
select the TUNER (FM) source. The word“TUNER” will be showed on the display.
Tuning in a Station
Auto Tuning
Press and hold /for a few seconds, the unit will tune to the next available radio station.
Presetting Stations
You can store up to 20 stations to the memory, allowing access to your favourite stations
quickly and easily.
Automatically
Press and hold PROGRAM for a few seconds. The word ‘SCANNING’will briey appear on
the display. The unit will automatically search and store the rst 20 radio stations it nds.
Manually
1. To store a preset, you must rst be listening to the station that you want to save.
2. Press PROGRAM to activate program mode. The preset number will blink e.g.“01”.
3. Press ALBUM/PRESET /to select the desired station preset number.
4. Press PROGRAM again to store the station, the program number will now stop blinking,
your program is now saved.
Recalling a Preset Station
You can recall any saved station by pressing ALBUM/PRESET / .

FM Information Display
Many FM stations broadcast additional service information. Depending on the FM radio
station you are tuned into, some information may be unavailable. Press the INFO button
repeatedly to view the additional information.
Station Name
When an RDS station is received, the name of that
station will be displayed.
PTY (Programme Type)
This describes the “Style” or “Genre”of music that is
being broadcast, e.g. “Rock” or “Classical”.
Time
This displays the current time provided automatically
by the broadcaster.
Tex t
The broadcaster can include information about the
current programme.
Frequency
This shows the frequency of the current station.
