THE NATURE OF HAZARDOUS SITUATIONS
The use of automotive service and maintenanace devices is subject to certain hazards that cannot be prevented by mechanical means,
but only by the exercise of intelligence, care, and common sense. It is therefore essential to have owners and personnel involved in the
use and operation of the equipment who are careful, competent, trained, and qualied in the safe operation of the equipment and its
proper use. Examples of hazards are dropping, tipping or slipping of loads caused primarily by improperly securing loads, overloading,
off-centered loads, use on other than hard level surfaces, and using equipment for a purpose for which it was not designed.
METHODS TO AVOID HAZARDOUS SITUATIONS
 • Read,study,understandandfollowallinstructionsbeforeoperatingthispress.
 • Alwayswearsafetygoggles,usersandbystanders
 • Partsbeingpressedmaysplinter,shatter,orbeejectedfromthepressatadangerousrateofspeed.Becausethereareavarietyofpress
applications, it is the responsibility of the press owner to provide adequate guards, eye protection and protective clothing to the press operator.
 • Visualinspectionofthepressshouldbemadebeforeuse,checkingforsignsofcrackedwelds,bentbedpins,looseormissingbolts,leaks,orany
other structural damage. Corrections must be made before using the press.
 • Donotgonearleaks.Highpressurehydraulicuidcanpunctureskinandcauseseriousinjury,gangrene,ordeath.Ifinjured,seekemergency
medical help as immediate surgery is required to remove the uid.
 • Priortousemakesurethepressissecurelyanchoredtoaconcreteoor.
 • Keephands,arms,feet,andlegsoutofworkarea.Accidentalslippagecanresultinpersonalinjury.
 • Alwaysuseanaccurateforcegaugetomeasurepressingforce.
 • Donotexceedtheratedcapacityortamperwiththepressure/forcesettings.Whenattachmentsandadaptersareusedtheratedcapacityofthe 
system shall be no greater than the rated capacity of the lowest rated component or combination of components that make up the system.
 • Avoidoff-centerloads.Offsetloadscandamageramandmaycauseloadtoejectatadangerousrateofspeed.Donotuseanyspacerorextender
between the press ram plunger and the item being pressed. If there is not enough ram stroke, adjust the height of the movable bolster.
 • Removeallloadsfrommovablebolsterbeforeattemptingtoadjustbolsterheight.Bewareofpossiblefallingbolster.
 • Pressonlyonloadssupportedbymovablebolsterandpressplatesincluded.Donotsupportloadsonoororpressframelegs.
 • Whenusinganyaccessoriessuchaspressplatesorarborplates,becertaintheyarecenteredonthemovablebolsterandinfullcontactwithboth
sides of the bolster.
 • Beforeapplyingload,becertainallmovablebolstersupportingpinsarefullyengaged.Verifyliftcables(ifequipped)areslackbeforepressingon 
the bolster.
 • Alwaysuseabearingshieldwhenpressingbearings.
 • Usecautionwhenpositioningworktobepressedtoensuretheitemtobepressedcannotbeejectedatadangerousrateofspeed.
 • Releasehydraulicpressurebeforelooseninganyttings.
 • Maintainproperhydraulicuidlevels.
 • Donotmakeanyalterationstothepress.
 • ThisproductmaycontainoneormorechemicalsknowntotheStateofCaliforniatocausecancerandbirthdefectsorother
reproductive harm. Wash hands thoroughly after handling.

4) Tightenallhardwarementionedinsteps1through3makingsurethefeet#20areatontheoorandposts#19areperpendicularto
the oor.
5) Securethepumpassemblyplate#26tothepost#19withthebolts#12,washers#13,springwashers#14andnuts#15asshowninthe 
 explodedviewdrawing.Theovalholeinthepumpassemblyplate#26shouldfacetowardstheoperatingsideofthepress.
6) Thepump#29mustbesecuredtothepumpassemblyplate#26withthewashers#27andscrews#28.
7) Centertheplate1#6ontopoftheupperbeams#10.Usingonehand,positionplate2#8directlybelowplate1#6andunderthebeams 
 #10sotheotherhandcanbeusedtofeedthebolts#5throughcorrespondingholesinbothplates.Securetheboltswiththewashers 
 #21,springwashers#22,nuts#23andtighten.
8) Installtheramassembly#3downthroughtheholeinplate1#6justfarenoughsotheram’sthreadsareseenundertheplateandscrew 
 theupperroundnut#7allthewayontheramuntiltheendofthethreads.Nowcontinuetolowertheramassembly#3downthroughthe
 holeinplate2#8untiltheupperroundnut#7restsonplate2#8.
9) Thethreadsoftheramassembly#3shouldbeexposedbelowplate2#8.Screwonthelowerroundnut#11ontheramthreadsjustuntil 
 thenutengagesallthethreads.Raisetheramupuntilthetopofthelowerroundnut#11isupagainstthebottomofplate2#8andthen 
 screwdowntheupperroundnut#7untilplate2#8issandwichedbetweentheupperandlowerroundnuts.Tightensetsscrewsinthe 
upper and lower round nuts.
10)Insertthenylonring#2inthettingontopoftheramassembly#3andinstallthegauge#1inthetting.Tightenthegaugeinthettingso
the face of the gauge is pointing towards the operating side of the press.
11)Installthecoupler#30attheendoftheoilhose#24inthecoupleroftheramassembly#3andtightenbyhandonly.
12 Installtheadaptor#9inthebottomoftheramassembly#3andtightenthescrew#4.
13)Tilttheworkbed#17sothateachendwillstraddletheposts#19.Raisetheworkbedtothedesiredheightandclosesttotheholesinthe
 posts#19.Insertthepins#18throughtheholesintheposts#19andsecurethepinsintheholesbyinsertingtherings#31inthering 
 groovesofthepins#18.Theworkbed#17cannowrestonthepins#18.
14)Ifthebackendofthepump#29isequippedwithallscrewthatalsoservesasabreatherforthepump’sreservoir,turnthescrew 
counterclockwise until it stops.
15)Sometimesduringshippingandhandling,airmaybecometrappedinthehydraulicsystemandcausethepumptomalfunctionornot 
 achieveafullpumpstroke.Purgingairoutofthesystemcanbeaccomplishedbyfollowingthesesteps:
  a. Onthesideofthepump#29isaknobthatmustbeturnedclockwiseallthewayuntilitstopsinordertoextendtheram#3during 
the pumping operation. Turn the knob counterclockwise two full rotations from its stop position. Install the pump handle in the
    pump’shandlereceiverandandoperatethepump10fullincrementalpumpstrokes.
  b. Repeatstep'a'untilalltheairispurgedoutofthesystem.
INSPECTION
Visualinspectionoftheshoppressshouldbemadebeforeeachuseofthepress,checkingfordamaged,looseormissingparts.
Eachpressmustbeinspectedbyanauthorizedservicecenterimmediatelyifsubjectedtoanabnormalloadorshock.Anypress  
which appears to be damaged in any way, is found to be badly worn, or operates abnormally must be prevented from being used until
necessary repairs are made by an authorized service center. It is recommended that an annual inspection of the press be made by an
authorized service center and that any defective parts, missing or damaged warning labels be replaced with K-Tool International parts
and labels.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
CHECK YOUR LOCAL, STATE AND FEDERAL REGULATIONS REGARDING THE SAFE USE OF THIS PRESS.
1) Priortouse,thepressfeet#20shallbermlyanchoredtoaconcreteoortopreventmovementandtippingofthepresswhileitisbeing
used.
2)Evaluatetheworktobeaccomplishedinordertomakefulluseoftheramassembly#3stroke.Considerationtopressaccessoriesusedin
 conjunctionwiththecomponenttobeworkedonshoulddeterminetheworkheightoftheworkbed#17.
3) Makesuretheworkbed#17isfreeofanyaccessories,workpiecesandtoolsbeforeraisingorloweringtheworkbed.Theworkbedis
 lightenoughtoberaisedandloweredbyhand.Oncetheworkbed#17isatitsdesiredworkheight,installthepins#18inthepost#19
 holesclosesttotheundersideoftheworkbed.Makesurethepins#18arefullyengagedintheparallelangesofthepress’sposts#19.
4) Makesuretheramassemblyiscompletelyretractedatthistimebyturningtheknobonthesideofthepump#29inacounterclockwise
 direction.Assembletheworksetupontheworkbed#17sothatitissecure,stableandtheramassemblyisproperlyalignedwiththepart
to be pressed so it makes for a straight vertical operation.
5) Installproperguardingthatprovidesadequateprotectionagainstanyyingpartsanduseabearingshieldifitappliestotheapplication.
6 Makesurethatgogglesandallprotectiveclothingarewornatthistimeandclearthepressworkareaofbystandersbeforeusing.
7) Turntheknobonthesideofthepump#29inaclockwisedirectionuntilitstopsandslowlyactivatethepumphandleuntiltheram#3
 meetstheload.Continuetoslowlypumpthehandletomakesurethesetupisstillstableandtheram#3ispushingstraightandvertical.
 Discontinuepumpingifthesetuporverticalramtravellookscompromised.Releasetherambyturningtheknobonthesideofthepump
 #29counterclockwiseandmakeanyrequiredsetupchangesbeforepumpingagain.Makesuretoreadthegauge#1intermittentlysothe
force does not exceed the lowest rated capacity press accessory, plunger or adapter being used.
8) Aftertheworkhasbeencompleted,retracttheramalltheway,removeeverythingoffthetopoftheworkbed#17andraisetheworkbed
 offthetopofthepins#18.Thepins#18canberemovedandworkbed#17movedtoanotherheight.Alwayssupporttheworkbed#17
 withpins#18.Neverleavethepressunattendedwithoutthepins#18supportingtheworkbed#17.
PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE
• Anypressfoundtobeinoperableornotoperatingaccordingtoitsoriginaldesignasaresultofwornpartsduetolackoflubricationor
 adjustment,air/hydraulicsystem(ifapplicable)contaminatedwithwater,rustand/orforeignmaterialsfromtheairsupplyorotheroutside
source is not eligible for warranty consideration.
• Thepressmustbeanchoredtoaconcreteoorandplacedinawellprotectedareawhereitwillnotbeexposedtoinclementweather,
corrosive vapors, abrasive dust, or any other harmful elements.
• Checkforhydraulicleaksandtighten,repairorreplacecomponentsbeforeusing.
• Useageneralpurposegreasetolubricatethepumplinkageonthepump#29.
• Itshouldnotbenecessarytorellortopoffthepump’shydraulicuidreservoirunlessthereisanexternalleak.Anexternalleakrequires
immediate repair by a qualied hydraulic repair mechanic who is familiar with the press.
• Inordertopreventhydraulicsealdamage,neverusealcohol,hydraulicbrakeuidortransmissionoilinthehydraulicpump.Usealight
 viscosityhydraulicjackorturbineoil,ChevronHydraulicOilISO32oritsequivalentUnocalUnaxAW150.
• Donotattempttomakeanyhydraulicrepairsunlessyouareaqualiedhydraulicrepairpersonthatisfamiliarwiththispress.Repairby
an authorized service center is recommended.
TROUBLESHOOTING
PROBLEM: RAM WILL NOT EXTEND.
PROBLEM: RAM WILL NOT HOLD RATED LOAD.
PROBLEM: PUMPING FEELS SPONGY UNDER RATED LOAD.
PROBLEM: RAM WILL NOT EXTEND ALL THE WAY.

K-Tool International warrants that all jacks and service-related equipment will be free from defects in material and workmanship for a
periodof2yearsfollowingtheoriginaldateofpurchase.Thiswarrantyisextendedtotheoriginalretailpurchaseronly.Ifanyjackor
service-relateditemprovestobedefectiveduringthisperiod,itwillbereplacedorrepaired,atK-ToolInternational’soption,without
charge. This warranty does not apply to damage from accident, overload, misuse or abuse, nor does it apply to any equipment which
has been altered or used with special attachments other than those recommended. This warranty does not cover repairs made by
anyonewhoisnotaK-ToolInternationalProfessionalLiftingEquipmentAuthorizedRepairCenter.
AllHD&XDjacksorservice-relatedequipmentwillbereplacedorrepairedatK-ToolInternational’soptionduringthe2yearwarranty

agujas del reloj dos rotaciones completas desde su posición de paro. Instale el mango de la bomba en el receptor del mango de
    labombayoperelabomba10recorridosincrementalescompletosdelabomba.
 b. Repitalospasos'a'hastaquesehayapurgadotodoelairedelsistema.
