•If the wrench has not been used for some time it is
recommended that it is operated several times to
redistribute lubricant to the internal mechanisms.
•Release the locking collar.
•Set the gauge to the required torque by turning the
locking collar clockwise.
•Engage the locking collar.
•Always apply torque in the direction of the
arrow shown on the neck sleeve.
When applying torque the wrench must be pulled
from the correct position on the handle as this affects the
reading given by the wrench.
HAND POSITION FOR APPLYING TORQUE
•Apply torque. A loud ‘click’ sound will be heard by
the user to alert them that preset torque has been
reached. Stop pulling on the wrench as soon as
the ‘click’ sound is heard. This will eliminate
over-tightening.
•After use the torque setting gauge should be returned
to its lowest position. Failure to do this will affect the
accuracy of the torque wrench.

procedures are followed and the tool is used
correctly it will last for many years.
SAFETY AND MAINTENANCE
•Always follow instructions for assembly
before operation.
•Ensure your workpiece is firmly held or fixed before
commencing work.
•When using torque tools it is possible that
fasteners may break or slip. Always stand with
both feet on the floor and avoid applying torque in
awkward positions.
•The drive part of the tool and any accessories
should always be in line with the fastener.
Misalignment and uncontrolled movement will
affect accuracy.
•Only use the tool on the job for which it has
been designed.
•Keep the tool clean by wiping. Never dip in
cleaning fluid.
•Always store tools away from dirt, oil and swarf
as this can damage mechanisms.
•We recommend that your torque tool be
calibrated annually.
All Tri-Torq tools are supplied with a calibration
certificate valid for 12 months from date of purchase.
