MOBILE VIDEO CONSOLE
INSTRUCTION MANUAL
FOR USE WITH KENWOOD MOBILE VIDEO
PRODUCTS
1997-1999 Ford Expedition
1998-1999 Lincoln Navigator
KENWOOD CORPORATION
Take the time to read through this instruction manual.
Familiarity with installation and operation procedures
will help you obtain the best performance from your
new mobile video system.
8 - #8-32 Inserts
(KMSI832)
Press the video console into place up
and against the rear of the console.
Through the (4) holes located on the
side of the video console, mark the
location for the metal inserts
(see
picture to right)
. Remove the video
console from the back of the factory
console and drill a 3/16" hole at each
of the previously marked positions.
Install (4) supplied metal inserts into
the previously drilled holes. Prepare
the previously removed rear radio
controls by enlarging the four holes in the mounting tabs to 3/16”. Install (4)
supplied metal inserts into the mounting tabs. Install the radio control unit to
the inside of the video console using (2) supplied 1/2” machine screws through
the upper holes on the video console. Install (2) supplied 1” machine screws
through the bottom holes on the video console, through the 5/16” white nylon
spacers and into the inserts in the rear radio controls.

Remove Factory Console
Remove the top section of the center
console
(This will help the wire routing
process)
. Unsnap and remove the
rear section of the factory center
console. Disconnect the wire harness
from the Lighter Plug and Radio
Control Unit. Remove the (4) screws
holding the factory Radio Control Unit
into the rear section of the
console
(These controls will remount
into the video console
).
Route all wires and cable at this time.
(see picture at right)
Install wiring and cables according to
the instructions provided with
electronic equipment.

(The lighter plug will not be reused.)

Wiring and Connections
Mark Locations for Inserts
Factory Console
Installation of Video Console
Prepare the monitor for installation by sliding the small studded bracket
into the back panel of the monitor. Run the monitor data cable through
the rectangular-shaped hole in the video console and connect to the
monitor. Slide the monitor into the console and secure using the (2)
supplied star nuts.
(Do not overtighten)
Reconnect the factory harness to the Radio Control Unit. Make sure
that all other cables and sources are hooked up at this time. Press the
video console into place up and against the rear of the console. (Make
sure that no cables are pinched.)
Secure the video console to the factory console with the (4) supplied
1/2" machine screws. (
don’t overtighten
)
SK-EXNL1 Installed
Reinstall all previously removed
factory components andpanels.
Turn on and test everything.
(If the system doesn’t work properly,
recheck all connections and fuses.)
The install of the video system is now
complete.
