Perpetual counters The scanner has perpetual page and hour counters for monitoring
when lamps should be replaced, as well as assist with scanner
maintenance.
To review the perpetual counters:
1. From the Home menu, press the RIGHT ARROW key until you
reach the Counters menu.
2. Press the F3 key [NEXT] to view total pages scanned.
3. Press the F3 key [NEXT] to view total hours the scanner has been
on.
4. Press the F3 key [NEXT] to view total pages fed.

5. Press the F3 key [NEXT] to view front lamp hours used.
6. Press the F3 key [NEXT] to view back lamp hours used.
7. Press the CLEAR key to return to the Home menu.
Code revision
numbers The Code Revision Numbers menu displays the hardware and software
revision numbers for various parts of the system.
To review the code revision numbers:
1. From the Home menu, press the RIGHT ARROW key until you
reach the Code Revision Numbers menu.
2. Press the F3 key [NEXT] to scroll through the list of devices that
report a software revision number. The number and type of revision
numbers displayed will depend on available scanner options.
3. Press the F3 key [NEXT] to view the scanner firmware revision
number.
4. Press the F3 key [NEXT] to view the feeder revision number.
5. Press the F3 key [NEXT] to view the front IJPM (imprinter) revision
number (where applicable).
6. Press the F3 key [NEXT] to view the back IJPM (imprinter) revision
number (where applicable).
7. Press the F3 key [NEXT] to view the page entry sensor revision
number.
8. Press the F3 key [NEXT] to view the page exit sensor revision
number.
9. Press the F3 key [NEXT] to view the operator interface revision
number.
10.Press the F3 key [NEXT] to view the EGSA software revision
number.
11.Press the F3 key [NEXT] to view the EGSA hardware revision
number.
12.Press the F3 key [NEXT] to view the EGSA FPGA revision number.
13.Press the F3 key [NEXT] to view the EGSA CPLD revision number.

General maintenance This section details maintenance tasks that must be performed on a
daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly basis to achieve optimum performance
from your scanner.
Below is a typical maintenance schedule for your scanner. Individual
maintenance schedules may vary depending on the documents that are
being scanned and the scanner environment.

Cleaning procedures Cleaning your scanner and performing preventative maintenance on a
regular basis is required to ensure the best possible image quality.
Some document types generate more paper dust and debris and may
require more frequent cleaning.
Before cleaning your scanner or replacing consumables, review the
following information:
• When cleaning rollers/tires, allow the rollers/tires to dry completely
before scanning.
• Use only the recommended cleaning supplies.
• Do not use cleaners in confined areas, use with adequate
ventilation.
• Do not use cleaners on hot surfaces. Allow surfaces to cool to
ambient temperature before use.
• Do not use canned/compressed air.
• Do not use flammable compressed aerosols on or around the
scanner.
• In addition to the recommended cleaning supplies, you may use a
vacuum cleaner to remove debris from the scanner.
• Staticide wipes contain isopropanol which can cause eye irritation
and dry skin. Wash your hands with soap and water after
performing maintenance procedures. Refer to the Material Data
Safety Sheet (MSDS) for more information. The MSDS is available
on the Kodak web site at www.kodak.com/go/MSDS.
NOTE: To access the MSDS, you will need to provide the catalog
number of the supply. See “Supplies and Consumables”
later in this document for catalog numbers.
• The roller cleaning pad contains sodium lauryl ether sulfate and
sodium silicate which can cause eye irritation. Refer to the MSDS
for more information.

Cleaning the glass
flat • If you have a simplex scanner, proceed to the section entitled,
“Calibrating the cameras”.
• If you have a duplex scanner, follow the instructions below for
cleaning the glass flat.
Dust or smudges on the glass flat can cause vertical streaks or make
the image fuzzy; therefore, the glass flat should be cleaned daily.
Depending on use, it may be necessary to clean the glass flat more
frequently.
NOTE: For safety reasons, power to the transport motor is shut off
when the scanner cover is opened.
Cleaning the front side only:
1. Open the scanner transport cover.
2. Carefully clean the front surface of the glass with a Staticide wipe.
Inspect the glass flat after cleaning to ensure all dust and residue
has been removed.
3. Close the scanner transport cover.
Cleaning both sides:
When you need to clean both the front and back side of the glass flat, it
must be removed from the scanner. Do not twist or turn the glass flat
while removing it so as not to damage it.
1. Open the scanner transport cover.
2. Place your fingers on each end of the glass flat.

3. Push down on the right side of the glass flat and slide it to the right
until the glass flat slightly lifts away from the metal tray.
4. Holding the left side, gently pull the glass flat towards the left, taking
care not to twist or leverage the tip where it still touches the scanner.
and remove it from the scanner.
5. Check the glass flat for chips and scratches. If the glass flat is
chipped or scratched, replace the glass flat. See the section
entitled, “Supplies and Consumables” for catalog numbers and
ordering information.
NOTE: New glass flats should also be cleaned on both sides
before installation.
6. Carefully clean the front and back surfaces of the glass with a
Staticide wipe.
7. Wipe the front and back surfaces of the glass again with an almost-
dry Staticide wipe to remove any streaks.
8. Inspect the glass flat after cleaning to ensure all dust and residue
has been removed.
9. Reinsert the glass flat by inserting the left end first, gently pressing
down against the spring and guiding the tip about ½ inch (12.7 mm)
which allows the other end of the glass to swing down and rest
easily into the groove.
10. Gently slide the exposed tip ¼ inch (6.4 mm) to the right, guiding it
into its socket. The springs will press the glass flat against the
holder surface. Slide the glass flat left and right to ensure that it is
centered and seated properly.
11. Wipe the exposed surface of the glass flat again with the Staticide
wipe. Inspect the glass flat after cleaning to ensure all dust and
residue has been removed.
12. Close the scanner transport cover.

Cleaning the back
camera glass cover • If you have a simplex scanner, proceed to the section entitled,
“Calibrating the cameras”.
• If you have a duplex scanner, follow the instructions below for
cleaning the glass cover. The glass cover is not the same as the
glass flat.
For best results:
• Do not re-use Tech Wipes. Doing so may re-introduce dust from
previous cleanings.
• Tech Wipes should not be sprayed with any type of cleaner.
The back camera glass cover is located directly beneath the bottom
lamp assembly and can be easily accessed for cleaning when the
bottom lamp assembly and glass flat is removed from the scanner.
Dust on the glass cover can cause streaks or make the image fuzzy;
therefore, the glass cover should be cleaned frequently.
1. Turn off the scanner.
2. Open the scanner transport cover.
3. Open the scanner’s side access panel.
CAUTION: The lamp assembly may be hot! After the scanner has
been powered off, allow the scanner lamps to cool
approximately 5-10 minutes before continuing.

4. Remove the bottom lamp assembly by pulling it out of the scanner,
and set it aside.
5. Push down on the right side of the glass flat and slide it to the right
until the glass flat slightly lifts away from the metal tray.
6. Holding the left side, gently pull the glass flat towards the left, taking
care not to twist or leverage the tip where it still touches the scanner.

7. Insert the foam end of a Tech Wipe, flat side down, on top of the
bottom camera glass and gently wipe any dust particles from its
surface, making sure to cover the entire length of the glass.
8. When finished cleaning, re-insert the glass flat and the bottom lamp
assembly.
9. Close the side access panel.
10. Close the scanner transport cover.
11. Turn on the scanner.

Camera calibration Camera calibration resets the white level and balance in the scanner. It
performs red, green, blue (RGB) color balance and gain setting, and
horizontal light level correction. Cameras can be calibrated
independently or together.
If the camera calibration icon is flashing on the control panel and the
message Calibrate Front Camera or Calibrate Back Camera is
displayed, one or both of the cameras require calibration. Recalibration
is necessary as the lamps age and after new lamps have been
installed.
NOTES: For the best possible results:
•Duplex scanners: Clean the glass flat and back camera’s glass
cover before calibrating the back camera.
• The scanner should be warmed up for at least 40 minutes before
calibration. Camera calibration requires that you feed two clean
calibration control sheets from the Camera Calibration Kit in
landscape operation.
CAUTION: Before calibrating close all applications on the host
PC. If an open application attempts to communicate
with the scanner during calibration, irreversible
problems with the scanner’s EGSA board could result!
1. Set the scanner in Manual Feeder Mode.
2. From the Home menu, press the LEFT ARROW key until the
Camera Calibration menu is displayed.
3. Press one of the following FUNCTION keys: F1 [FRONT]; F2
[BACK]; or F3 [BOTH], depending on which camera you want to
calibrate. The camera calibration icon will indicate which camera
needs to be calibrated.
During the first 40 minutes of scanner operation, the following menu
will prompt you to wait until the scanner and lamps are fully warmed
up before calibrating.
4. Press the F1 key [OK] to cancel the calibration and return to the
previous menu or press the F3 key [CALIBRATE] to ignore the
warm-up requirement.
CAUTION: Ignoring the warm-up requirement may result in
degrading color image quality and is recommended
only after lamp replacement. If calibration is performed
during the warm-up period, the scanner will continue to
prompt for re-calibration until a successful calibration
is performed after 40 minutes.
