Step ne: Close the jaws, then press the 'ZERO'
switch to set zero. (See figure 1
Step Two: Locate the skin you will use for the
skinfold measurement on your belly. (Approximately
one inch above your right hip bone.

Step Three: While standing, firmly pinch the
suprailliac skinfold between your left thumb and
forefinger (see figure 2 .
Place the jaws of the digital body fat caliper over the
skinfold, while continuing to hold the skinfold with
your left hand.

Step Four: Press the jaws until you feel a slight pain
(see figure 3 . Press the 'HOLD' switch to keep the
measurement, then read your measurement. Press
'HOLD' again to continue, repeating these steps three
times and using the average as your measurement.
Refer to the body fat interpretation chart to
determine your body fat percentage and what it
means (see figure 4 overleaf . Figure 3
Additional notes
•Obtain your body fat measurement in millimeters using the Digital Body
Fat Caliper.
•Find where the column with your millimeter reading intersects with the row
of your age range.
•The number shown is your body fat percentage.
•For measurements over 36mm, add 0.25% for every millimeter pinched
above 36mm.
