ThecPAPMKIItransceiverisdesignedforLBLpositioningofROVandotherumbilical
cordconnectedvehicleormodule.
ThecPAPMKIITransceiveriscompatiblewithboth
Cymbalacousticprotocolforpositioninganddatalink,
andFSKchannelsandtelemetry.
Ithasanacoustictelemetrylinkforcommandanddata
transfer.Thesubseatransceiverunitisdesignedsothatthetransducercanbereplaced
individuallytosuititspurpose.

andreceptionarecommonlyreferredtoasaping.
Thesubseatransceiverisasmallaluminiumtubethatcontainsthe

thatthedeliveryiscompleteandinspecteachshippingcontainerforevidenceofphysical
damage.

equipmentarefoundinthechapterforEquipmenthandling.

Prerequisites
ItisimportanttogetagoodlineofsighttotheLBLtransponderswhiletheROVis
navigatingclosetotheseabed.

3PerformacommunicationcheckwithAPOSbeforelaunching.
4Makesuretherewillbeafreelineofsightbetweenthetransceiver’stransducer
andtheseabedtransponders.

Cleaning
Thetransceiverandtransducermustbecleanedafteruse.
Context
Afterretrievingtheunitfromsaltwater,itshouldbethoroughlyrinsedwithfreshwater
asusualwiththiskindofequipment.
Procedure
1Rinseorsoakthoroughlywithfreshwater,thelongerthebetter.
Lukewarmwaterispreferableifavailable.
Payparticularattentiontonooksandcrannies(aroundboltheads,connectorsandso
on).
2Ifaconnectorhasbeendisconnectedforopenfacerinsing,leaveittodryproperly
beforereconnecting.
LubricatingSubConn®connectors
Underwaterconnectorsmustbekeptcleanandlubricatedandshouldbeinspected
regularlyfordamagesandcorrosion.
Context
SubConn®connectorsshouldnotbeexposedtoextendedperiodsofheatordirect
sunlight.Ifaconnectorbecomesverydry,itshouldbesoakedinfreshwaterbeforeuse.
Procedure
1GreasetheconnectorwithMolykote44Mediumorequivalentgrease.
Alayerofgreasecorrespondingtominimum1/10ofthesocketdepthshouldbe
appliedtothefemaleconnector.
2Checkthattheinneredgeofallsocketsiscompletelycovered,andathintransparent
layerofgreaseisvisibleonthefaceoftheconnector.
3Fullymatethemaleandfemaleconnectorinordertosecureoptimaldistributionof
greaseonpinsandinsockets.
4Openandcheckforgreaseoneverymalepin,toconrmthatenoughgreaseis
applied.
Addmoreifnecessary.
5Connectandtightenthelockingsleeve.
