Quick Start Guide

2KONGSBERG – WBT Mini Quick Start Guide
No license is required to use the EK Mission
Planner and operate the instrument in autono-
mous mode.
License
You will need a software license to operate the WBT
Mini system with the EK80 system. Request it from
our web page:
www.kongsberg.com/ek80lic
The license string must be entered in the Installation
dialog box in the EK80 software.
• Install the EK80 software on the PC (A), and set
up the WBT Mini (B) and the transducer(s) (C)
• Connect the transceiver to the PC using the
Ethernet + power cable
• Apply all cabling
• Apply power to the transceiver

Thank you for purchasing the WBT Mini transceiver
The WBT Mini is a compact version of the highly efficient WidebandTransiver (WBT) used by marine rese-
arch vessels. The compact size and energy-efficient design makes it perfect for installation on a wide range of
platforms.
There are two different installation modes, EK80 Mode and Autonomous Mode.
Follow these simple instructions to get started.

• Install the EK Mission Planner (A)
• Install the the WBT Mini (B) and the transdu-
cer(s) (C) in a suitable location
• Connect the transceiver to the PC using serial
(USB) interface cable
• Apply all cabling
• Apply power to the transceiver

Installing the
transducer(s)
Use the Installation dialog box, and Model list for
selecting correct transducer type and serial number.
Dening transceiver
channels
Use the Installation dialog box and enter the trans-
ducers available in the EK80 software
Connect the available transducers to the correct
transceivers and select.
Transducer connectors
Make sure the correct transducer is selected.
Starting Normal mode
Enter Normal mode from the Operation menu.
Set Ping to On.
Define Ping Mode to Interval.
And there you go, acoustic pulses are transmitted.

Use the Transducer bar in the EK Mission Planner
and select transducer from the drop-down list
Connecting to the trans-
ceiver
Connect the EK Mission Planner software to the
transceiver. Make sure the serial line is in place and
use the EK Mission Planner to set up serial port
and transceiver for communication.
Dening a mission plan
Define a mission plan to specify the survey para-
meters. Creating a mission plan includes choosing
transducer(s), and ping configurations in the
EK Mission Planner.
Executing the mission plan
Send the mission plan to the transceiver, and acti-
vate the plan.

It is critical to connect the right transducer(s) to the right transceiver
Multiplexer
The WBT Mini can multiplexe between two chan-
nels. Connect according to drawings. Connectors 1
and 3 are the default connectors.
