thegeneralprinciplesofmarineelectronicequipment.Youmustalsobefamiliarwith
theinstallationofelectronicandmechanicalproducts.Youareexpectedtohavebasic
mechanicalskillsandfamiliaritywithhandlingsensitiveelectronicequipment.

TP90CatchMonitoringPositioningTransceiver
TheSimradTP90CatchMonitoringPositioningTransceiverisanoptionalpartofthe
SimradTV80catchmonitoringsystem.Bymeansofthistransceiver,theTV80canprovide
informationabouttherelativepositionoftheITIandPxPossensorsplacedonthetrawl.
Thetransceiverconnectstooneortwotransducers.Initially,onlysingletransducer
installationissupported.Thetransceivercanreceiveinformationfromarelevantselection
ofITIsensors,excepttheITITrawlEyeandtheITICatch.
Thetransceiverrequiresanexternalpowersupplyoffering12to15Vdc,minimum5A.A
suitablepowersupplyisprovidedwiththedelivery.AhighqualityEthernetcableconnects
thetransceivertothecomputer.Thedistancebetweenthecomputerandthetransceivercan
beextendeduptomaximum70meters.Ifalongercableisrequired,cutitinhalf,andinsert
anEthernetswitchtoprovidebufferamplication.
ATV80systemwithPxPossensorsandaTP90transceiverallowsyoutomeasuretherange
andbearingtoeachsensoronthetrawl.Themeasurementsofrangeandbearingprovidethe
positionofthesensorsrelativetothevessel,andthusthelocationofthetrawl.Whenthis
positionisknown,youcanavoidwrecksandotherobstaclesontheseabed.Thismeansthat
aTV80systemttedwithaTP90transceivercanreplaceanexistingITIsystem.
PositioninformationissenttoandfromthetransceiverviaNMEAsentences.For
moreinformation,refertotherelevantsoftwarereleasenoteandtheTV80end-user
documentation.

Thetransceivercanbeinstalledverticallyorhorizontallyusingtheintegratedmounting
brackets.
Prerequisites
AsuitablelocationfortheTP90mustbedenedpriortoinstallation.Theunitcanin
principlebemountedanywhereonboardtheshipprovidedthatthelocationisdryand
ventilated.Thephysicallengthofthecableslimitthedistancebetweeneachtransducer
andthetransceiver.
Youmustbeequippedwithastandardsetoftools.Thistoolsetmustcomprisethenormal
toolsforelectronicandelectromechanicaltasks.
Context
IfyoumounttheTP90onabulkhead,positiontheunitsothatalltheconnectorsarefacing
down.
Ensuremaximumphysicaldistancebetweenthetransceiverandthepowersupply.Thisis
importanttoreducenoise.
Procedure
1Observetheinstallationrequirements.
