IMPORTANT SERVICE SAFETY INFORMATION
Operatingthereceiveroutsideofits cabinetor withits backremovedinvolves ashockhazard. Workon these
models shouldonlybeperformedbythosewhoarethoroughlyfamiliar withprecautionsnecessarywhenworkingon
highvoltageequipment.
Exercisecarewhenservicingthis chassis withpower applied. ifcarelesslycontacted, cancauseserious shockor
result indamagetothechassis. Maintaininterconnectinggroundleadconnections betweenchassis, escutcheon,picture
tubedagandtuner whenoperatingchassis.
Whenit is necessarytomakemeasurements or tests withACpower appliedtothereceiver chassis, anIsolation
Transformermust beusedas asafetyprecautionandtopreventpossibledamagetotransistors. TheIsolation
Transformer shouldbeconnectedbetweentheTVlinecordplugandtheACpoweroutlet.
It is important tomaintainspecifiedvaluesofall components andanywhereelseinthereceivedthat couldcause
ariseinoperatingsupplyvoltages. Nochanges shouldbemadetotheoriginaldesignofthereceiver.
Components shownintheshadedareas ontheschematicdiagramand/or identifiedbyinthereplacementparts
list shouldbereplacedonlywithexact factoryrecommendedreplacement parts. Theuseof unauthorizedsubstitute
parts mancreatesmaycreateshock,fire, orotherhazards.
Beforereturningthereceiver totheuser, performthefollowing safetychecks:
1. Inspect all leaddress tomakecertainthat leads arenotpinchedor that hardwareis not lodgedbetweenthechassis
and othermetal parts inthereceiver.
2. Replaceall protectivedevices suchas non-metalliccontrolknobs, insulatingfishpapers, cabinet backs, adjustment
and compartment covers of shields, isolationresistor-capacitor networks, mechanical insulators etc.
3. To besurethatnot shockhazardexists, acheckfor thepresence of leakagecurrent shouldbemadeat eachexposed
metal part havingareturnpathtothechassis (antenna, cabinetmetal, screw headsknobs and/or shafts, escutcheon,
etc.) inthefollowingmanner.
PlugtheAC linecorddirectlyintoa110V/220V/240V,AC receptacle. (DonotuseanIsolationTransformer
duringthesechecks.) All checksmust berepeatedwiththeAC linecordplugconnectionreversed. (Ifnecessary, a
non-polarizedadapter plugmust beusedonlyfor thepurposeofcompleting thesechecks.)
PLEASEREADBEFORE ATTEMPTINGSERVICE
1. UseanIsolationTransformer whenperforminganyserviceonthis chassis.
2. Never disconnect anyleads whilereceiver is inoperation.
3. Disconnect all power beforeattemptinganyrepairs.
4. Donot short anyposition ofthecircuit whilethepoweris on.
5. For safetyreasons, replace components anywithidentical replacement parts (SEE PARTSLIST).
6. Beforealignment, warmuptheTV for at least 30 minutes.
7. WhenremovingaPCB or relatedcomponent, after unfasteningor changing awire, besuretoput the
wirebackinits original position.
8. Inferior silicongreasecandamageIC's andtransistors. WhenreplacingIC's andtransistors, useonly
specifiedsilicon grease. Removeall oldsiliconwhenapplyingnewsilicon.
9. Beforeremovingtheanodecap, dischargeeletricitybecauseit contains high voltage.
