Attention: If "Replace" resulted from IN-VEHICLE mode, it might
be the reason that vehicle cable is not well connected with the
battery, ensure to cut off the cable and retest the battery under
OUT-OF-VEHICLE before making a decision to replace battery.
2.2 Battery Cranking Test
Battery Cranking Test is used to test and analyze the starting motor.
Testing the actual required cranking current and cranking voltage
of the starting motor is helpful to determine whether the starting
motor works properly or not.
If the starting malfunction may cause an increased starting loaded
torque; or rotor friction of the starting motor generates an
increasing friction of the starting motor itself.
Step1. Select mode “In Vehicle” >>>> Select “Cranking Test” ,
please turn of the engine before carry out this test.
Step2. Start the engine. RPM Detected, the KW600 will
automatically check the cranking voltage and time(Speed). Also it
will indicate whether the cranking system in normal or not. When the
cranking voltage and cranking speed are good, it is reasonably safe
for you to assume that the starting motor and starting circuits are
in order. If the cranking voltage is lower than specified, test the
battery capacity, starter circuits, and starter cranking current.
However, if the cranking voltage is high but the starter action is
sluggish, check for starting circuit resistance.
2.3 Battery Charging Test
Charging Test is also named as alternator ripple voltage test,
which is to check and analyze the vehicle battery charging system,
including generator, rectifier, rectifier diode, etc., thus to find out
whether the output voltage of the generator is normal, the rectifier
diode works properly and the abnormal, it will lead to over charge
or incomplete charge of the battery, thus cause quick damage to
the battery and greatly shorten the life of other loaded appliance.
Step1. Select mode “In Vehicle” >>>> Select “Charging Test” .
Step2. It will monitor the voltage output and the Ripple differences.
After that increase the engine RPM to 2500r/m and hold it for over
10 seconds.
Step3. the unit will automatically analysis the test and give results
In seconds.
A. CHARGING HIGH, indicating the generator output voltage is
too high.
B. NO-OUTPUT, indicating the generator malfunction, no voltage
output or changes.
C. CHARGING NORMAL, indicating the battery charging system
normal.
