This Owner’s Manual includes accessories commonly
used on this heater. These accessories must be
ordered separately.
When calling for technical service assistance, or for
other specic information, always have model
number and serial number available. This information
is contained on the dataplate.
This manual will instruct you in the operation and care
of your unit. Have your installer review this manual
with you so that you fully understand the heater and
how it functions.
Contact your local L.B. White distributor or the
L.B. White Co., LLC for assistance, or if you have
any questions about the use of the equipment or its
application.
The L.B. White Co., LLC has a policy of continuous
product improvement. It reserves the right to change
specications and design without notice.
The heater is equipped with a burner assembly. The
assembly includes an electronic igniter, solenoid
valves, and burner head with orice. When the heater
is turned ON, the igniter will spark, with gas delivered
through the solenoid to the burner orice. Ignition will
occur.
The burner will heat the heat exchanger. The main
motor will not start right away. Once the heat
exchanger has been heated, a fan switch will
energize the main motor, and blow cool air over
the heat exchanger. The cool air will be heated by
passing over the heat exchanger, with warm, dry air
delivered the area to be heated.
Combustion by- products created during the heating
process will be transferred up a vent stack directly to
the outside, thereby providing only clean, dry air to
the heated area.
When the heater is turned OFF, the solenoid valve
will close cutting off gas to the burner. The blower
motor will not stop right away. A fan switch will
continue to run the main motor for a period of time
to allow the heat exchanger to cool down. After this
time frame has elapsed, the fan switch will disconnect
power to the main motor, thereby shutting the main
motor down completely.
NOTE: Residual heat in the heat exchanger could
cause the fan switch to close and re-energize
the main motor. This is normal operation.

Safety Precautions
WARNING
Air Quality Hazard
■ Do not use this heater for heating human living quarters.
■ Do not use in unventilated areas.
■ Know the signs of CO and CO2 poisoning
- Headaches, stinging eyes.
- Dizziness, disorientation.
- Difculty breathing, feeling of being suffocated.
■ Proper ventilation air exchange (OSHA 29 CFR 1926.57) to support combustions and maintain
acceptable air quality shall be provided in accordance with OSHA 29 CFR part 1926.154, ANSI A10.10
Safety Requirements for Temporary and Portable Space Heating Devices and Equipment used in the
Construction Industry or the Natural Gas and Propane Installation Codes CSA B149.1.
- Periodically monitor levels of CO, CO2, and NO2 existing at the construction site – at the
minimum at the start of the shift and after 4 hours.
- Provide ventilation air exchange, either natural or mechanical, as required to maintain
acceptable indoor air quality.

Propane gas and natural gas have man-made added
odorants specically for detection of fuel gas leaks.
If a gas leak occurs, you should be able to smell the
fuel gas .
THAT’S YOUR SIGNAL TO GO INTO IMMEDIATE
ACTION!
■ Do not take any action that could ignite the fuel
gas. Do not operate any electrical switches. Do not
pull any power supply or extension cords. Do not
light matches or any other source of ame. Do not
use your telephone.
■ Get everyone out of the building and away from the
area immediately.
■ Close all fuel supply valves.
■ Propane gas is heavier than air and may settle in
low areas. When you have reason to suspect a
propane leak, keep out of all low areas.
■ Use your neighbor’s phone and call your fuel gas
supplier and your re department. Do not re-enter
the building or area.
■ Stay out of the building and away from the area
until declared safe by the reghters and your fuel
gas supplier.
■ FINALLY, let the fuel gas service person and the
reghters check for escaped gas. Have them
air out the building and area before you return.
Properly trained service people must repair the
leak, check for further leakages, and then relight
the heater for you.
■ Some people cannot smell well. Some people
cannot smell the odor of the man-made
chemical added to propane or natural gas. You
must determine if you can smell the odorant in
these fuel gases.
■ Learn to recognize the odor of propane gas and
natural gas. Local propane gas dealers and your
local natural gas supplier (utility) will be more than
happy to give you a “scratch and sniff” pamphlet.
Use it to become familiar with the fuel gas odor.
■ Smoking can decrease your ability to smell. Being
around an odor for a period of time can affect your
sensitivity to that particular odor.
■ The odorant in propane gas and natural gas is
colorless and the intensity of its odor can fade
under some circumstances.
■ If there is an underground leak, the movement of
gas through the soil can lter the odorant.
■ Propane gas odor may differ in intensity at different
levels. Since propane gas is heavier than air, there
may be more odor at lower levels.
■ Always be sensitive to the slightest gas odor. If you
continue to detect any gas odor, no matter how
small, treat it as a serious leak. Immediately go into
action as discussed previously.

■ Propane gas and natural gas have a distinctive
odor. Learn to recognize these odors. (Reference
“Fuel Gas Odor” and “Odor Fading” sections.
■ If you have not been properly trained in repair and
service of propane gas and natural gas fueled
heaters, then do not attempt to light the heater,
perform service or repairs, or make any adjust-
ments to the heater on a propane gas or natural
gas fuel system.
■ Even if you are properly trained in the service and
repair of the heaters, ALWAYS be consciously
aware of the odors of propane gas and natural gas.
■ A periodic “sniff test” around the heater or at the
heater’s joints; i.e. hose, connections, etc., is a
good safety practice under any conditions. If you
smell even a small amount of gas, CONTACT
YOUR FUEL GAS SUPPLIER IMMEDIATELY. DO
NOT WAIT!
QUALIFICATIONS FOR SERVICING AND
INSTALLATION:
1. Do not attempt to install, repair, or service this
heater or the gas supply line unless you have
continuing expert training and knowledge of gas
heaters.
Qualications for service and installation of this
equipment are as follows:
a. To be a qualied gas heater service person, you
must have sufcient training and experience to
handle all aspects of gas-red heater installation,
service and repair. This includes the task of
installation, troubleshooting, replacement of
defective parts and testing of the heater. You
must be able to place the heater into a continuing
safe and normal operating condition. You must
completely familiarize yourself with each model
heater by reading and complying with the safety
instructions, labels, Owner’s Manual, etc., that is
provided with each heater.
b. To be a qualied gas installation person, you must
have sufcient training and experience to handle
all aspects of installing, repairing and altering gas
lines, including selecting and installing the proper
equipment, and selecting proper pipe and tank size
to be used. This must be done in accordance with
all local, state and national codes as well as the
manufacturer’s requirements.
c. In the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, this
product must be installed by a gas tter licensed in
the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
2. All installations and applications of L.B. White
heaters must meet all relevant local, state and
national codes. Included are L.P. gas, natural gas,
electrical, and safety codes. Your local fuel gas
supplier, a local licensed electrician, the local re
department or similar government agencies, or
your insurance agent can help you determine code
requirements.

Fuel Burning Equipment.
3. We cannot anticipate every use which may be
made of our heaters. Check with the local re
safety authority if you have questions about
applications.
4. Do not wash the interior of the heater. Use only
compressed air, a soft brush or dry cloth to clean
the interior of the heater and its components.
5. For safety, this heater is equipped with two high
limit switches and an air-pressure switch. Never
operate the heater with any safety device that has
been bypassed. Do not operate this heater unless
all of these features are fully functioning.

6. Do not locate fuel gas containers or fuel supply hoses
within 20 feet/6 meters of the heater’s blower outlet.
7. Do not direct the heater toward any propane gas
container within 20 ft. (6m) of the heater’s air
discharge. When ducting is attached to the heater,
the heater’s hot air discharge is the end of the ducting.
8. Do not block air intakes or discharge outlets of the
heater. Doing so may cause improper combustion
or damage to heater components leading to property
damage.
9. The hose assembly shall be visually inspected on a
daily basis after heater relocation and when the heater
is in use. If it is evident there is excessive abrasion
or wear, or if the hose is cut, it must be replaced prior
to the heater being put into operation. The hose as-
sembly shall be protected from building materials, and
contact with hot surfaces during use.
10. Check for gas leaks and proper function upon heater
installation, when relocating, and after servicing.
Refer to leak check instructions within installation
section of this manual.
11. This heater should be inspected for proper operation
by a qualied service person before each use and at
least annually.
12. Always turn off the gas supply to the heater if the
heater is not going to be used.
13. This heater is wired with a ground connection for your
protection against shock hazard and must be wired
directly into a properly grounded electrical supply.
Failure to use a properly grounded electrical supply
can result in electrical shock, personal injury, or death.
14. If gas ow is interrupted and ame goes out, do not
relight the heater until you are sure that all gas that
may have accumulated has cleared away. In any
event, do not relight the heater for at least 5 minutes.
15. The heater requires a minimum 500 gallon/1892 liter
propane tank for proper gas supply pressure and
operation. A larger tank may be required depending
upon operating temperature conditions at the site.
16. When the heater is to be stored indoors, the
connection between the propane gas supply container
and the heater must be disconnected. The container
must be removed from the heater and stored in
accordance with NFPA 54 National Fuel/Gas Code,
Standard for the Storage and Handling of Liqueed
Petroleum Gases, ANSI/NFPA 58, or CSA B149.1

17. Propane gas supply containers have left handed
threads. Always use the appropriate wrench to make
a connection to tighten or loosen the pigtail
connector’s P.O.L. tting at the container’s gas
supply valve.
18. The heater may start at any time when used with a
thermostat.
Safety System
High Temperature Control: The heater is equipped
with two high temperature switches designed to turn the
heater off if the internal temperature reaches an unsafe
level. These are auto reset design limit switches.
Fan Switch: Controls when to start and stop the main
motor (Pre-heat & Post Purge).
Air Pressure Switch: This component ensures that the
burner’s fan motor is operating at the proper speed to
ensure a safe start up before ignition occurs.
Flame sensor: Used with the ignition control, it proves
that burner ame is established and keeps the burner in
operation as long as there is a call for heat.

Moving/Transporting the Heater
Securing the heater onto a trailer or a at bed.
• Place two solid blocks under the heater fame. See diagram below for proper location.
• Ensure the blocks are large enough to lift the heater off its wheels.
• Secure the straps properly to the lowest point on the heater frame. See circle locations below.
• DO NOT over-tighten the straps. Over-tighten could damage the strap or the heater’s frame.
• DO NOT use the heater’s handles as a point of securing the heater to the trailer.

-- SLOWLY lift the heater.
