1Introduction :
1.1 Safety :
Thank you for choosingLa Barrière Automatique to secure and regulate access to your
site(s). You can be sure that you will be satisfied with your purchase for many years to
come.
Nevertheless, before installing your equipment, we recommend that you read the
attached instructions for installation and use.
We have tried to use clear and simple language in our explanations: but if there is
anything you still don't understand, please get in touch with us for any additional
information or comments.
Read these instructions carefully before installing or repairing the automatic rising
barrier.
The installation and maintenance of the rising barrier must be carried out by a
professional installer in accordance with the instructions and current regulations.
All the instructions must be followed to avoid any injury. Not following these instructions
can cause injuries that, in certain cases, can be serious.
If you do not follow the provisions listed below, La Barrière Automatique shall not be
liable for any injury or damage to people or possessions:
►In case of malfunction, immediately turn off the electricity supply to the motor
and operate the barrier manually until the cause of the problem has been
determined and resolved;
►Do not carry out modifications to any part of the product unless this is described
in the manual;
►Modifications or disassembly must only be carried out by qualified and
authorised personnel;
►Do not carry out modifications to any part of the product unless this is described
in the manual;
►Avoid placing the parts of the mechanism close to sources of heat or in contact
with liquid substances;
►Use appropriate electrical cables
►For the best operation of the mechanism, use the accessories recommended
by La Barrière Automatique;
►The installation, checking and operation must be carried out according to
current regulations;
►Eliminate waste materials according to local regulations.

1.2 Warning
Your barrier comprises a mechanism and various electrical components. Any
negligence during repair or maintenance can have serious consequences for your
safety or for that of other people. The fixed support plate is equipped with a crank
position microswitch, which prevents any movement of the mechanism when there is
no contact.
Despite this protection, the internal equipment remains live, and so we recommend
cutting the power supply by turning the switch to OFF. Be very careful when handling
internal elements that could become live or move. Remove the upper cover of the
barrier to correctly adjust the movement of the rail, both up and down, using the ends
of travel. (Previously adjusted at the factory)
1.3 Information
The installation of a barrier or a physical obstacle exposes you to liability for the safety
of users. We ask that you take the following remarks into account:
►The key that opens the door giving access to the mechanism and the electrical
part must only be used by personnel who are aware of the risks of electrocution
and crushing. Any personnel intervening on the barrier must verify that the door
is locked before departing.
►Pedestrians must not be allowed to pass through the zone of movement of the
obstacle unless this movement is effectively signalled (warning lights or sounds,
ground markings, warning sign, etc.). It is your responsibility to keep these
warnings in good condition.
The installation of adequate warning signs and their respect is your sole responsibility,
taking account of the following note:
Note: In the European Union, requirement 1.3.7.2 of the EU Machines Directive
requires a pictogram prohibiting pedestrian access to the dangerous zone to be placed
at least one metre on either side of the rail in its closed (horizontal) position.

2CONDITIONS OF USE
2.1 Environmental conditions
•Operating temperature: –30 °C to +55 °C
•Maximum humidity level: 95% between –25 °C and +40 °C, 50% above 30 °C
•Presence of water: code AD5 (washing with water jet from all directions; notes
that high-pressure washing is possible if the jet is kept at least one metre away)
•Presence of solid bodies: code AE4 (protection against particles larger than 1
mm)
•Presence of corrosive substances: code AF2 plus special conditions for salt
spray and vehicle exhaust fumes. Protection against corrosion or polluting
substances is achieved through cataphoresis treatment and spray powder
painting for bodywork, by bichromate treatmentfor parts situated inside the case
and by the use of stainless steel for the exposed exterior parts of the barrier.

2.2 Electricity supply
The supply voltage for the barrier is 230 V ± 10%, 50 Hz ± 2 Hz monitor phase
according to NFC 15-100.
Power cuts lasting less than 100 ms will not affect operation.

3TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION OF THE BARRIER
3.1 DESIGN PRINCIPLES
The barriers presented in thisdocument have been designed to meet difficultoperating
requirements with a high number and frequency of cycles.
Maintenance has been facilitated by the use of modular subassemblies, which enable
repair times to be very short.
The basic module is common to all barriers, right or left, and it can be fitted with
peripherals that enable the barrier to be personalised.
As the design is modular, the barriers can be modified and adapted to new uses with
new peripherals.
3.2 Main characteristics
This barrier is made up of several subassemblies that can be very easily replaced:
bodywork, drive unit, aluminium rail support and electrical plate.
►Bodywork: Casing with door in DKP sheet, thickness 40/10 mm, with
cataphoresis treatment and RAL 5015 paint with cover in DKP sheet,
thickness 30/10 mm, with cataphoresis treatment and RAL 5015 paint as
standard, other colours are available as an option
►Half-shell rail mounts in galvanised steel and RAL 9010 powder paint
►Rail: in reinforced tapered fibreglass Ø140mm with reflective bands for a
rail length of between 3 m and 12 m
►Compression spring compensator
►Variable speed drive with 0.55 kW supply driving the acceleration ramp-
ups and deceleration ramp-downs, allowing the opening and closing
speed of the barrier to be controlled
►Double-wheel worm gear speed reducer, greased for life.
►Motor/brake unit with 0.55 kW to 230 VAC three-phase supply
►Mecanic sensors without contacts, for detecting the open and closed
positions
►Control unit fitted with an electronic control card or programmable
device allowing control of the barrier
3.3 Capabilities
►MTBF (average operating time without breakdown) is higher than 15,000
hours.
►MCBF (average number of cycles without breakdown) for the barrier is
higher than 3 million open-close cycles
►Number of cycles per day: up to 10,000 movements/day
►MTTR (average time taken for repair) is less than 60 minutes
►Protection Index: IP54

4Construction:
Construction of a 1000×1000×1000mm concrete foundation for the barrier casing
following the recommendations below.
These must be properly constructed for the barrier to be correctly installed.
Foundations must be perfectly horizontal and be at least at the level of the top surface
finished floor.
The sleeves must reach the middle of the barrier (2ר60mm max.)
A fixing plate can be supplied: it enables the barrier to be fixed more easily with the
four 20×400mm anchor rods.
The anchor rods must project by 60 mm (see below).

5.1 Access to the interior of the barrier
5.1.1 Opening the door
To open the door, it is necessary to have a TYPE 405 key (or other on request).
5.1.2 Opening the cover
The cover is removed by unscrewing the 4 screws located on each corner of the cover
(See arrow on following figure).

5.2 Posing the barrier:
5.2.1 On a standard plate:
After finishing construction, the barrier can be installed following the procedure below:
A- Position the PVC plate
B- Position the casing on the anchor rods, taking care not to trap the wires
C- Install the M20×60 flat washers and then the M20 nuts to hold the barrier.
Tighten the nuts
D- Put in place the M20 counter nuts to avoid loosening.
E- Tighten the nuts well, as they support the whole barrier.
F- The barrier must be earthed through a braid screwed onto one of the 4 fixing
studs.

5.3 Electrical and control connection
The supply voltage for the barrier is 230 V ± 10%, 50 Hz ± 2 Hz monitor phase
according to NFC 15-100.
Power cuts lasting less than 100 ms will not affect operation.
The barrier must be supplied by a 3G 1.5mm² or 2.5mm² cable (depending on the
length of the cable).
Electrical protection should be provided at the head of the line (10A-30mA differential
circuit breaker per barrier)
Connection of the barrier must be carried out without power.
The supply cable and the Earth must be connected to the terminal block intended for
this purpose (see electrical diagram).
The control cable must be connected to the terminal block intended for this purpose
(see electrical diagram).
5.4 Posing and positioning the equipment
5.4.1 Mounting the arm:
The arm is mounted following the procedure:
A –Turn off power supply to barrier
B –Unscrew the screws on the half-shell mounts (on each side)
C –Insert the rail until it is in contact with the end of the half-shell mount
D –Insert the 4 screws and nuts that allow the rail to be held within the half-shell
mounts
E –Re-tighten the half-shell mount fixings

5.4.2 Assembly of support (option)
Construction of a 400×400×600 concrete foundation for the barrier support following
the recommendations below.
These must be properly constructed for the barrier to be correctly installed.
The sleeving necessary to pass the cabling for electrical supply, barrier control, safety,
etc. must be provided at the same time
A- Turn off power supply to barrier
B- Position the rail in the horizontal position using the crank
C- Measure the distance between the concrete floor and the underside of the rail
D- Mark this distance –1 cm (height of the base) on the support to cut it to the
correct length
E- Fix the support base using the 4 anchor rods, then pass the cable if the
support is fitted with a sucker or an infrared cell
F- Apply silicone all around the base and fix the support to the base using two
screws on each side

5.4.3 Cam setting
The barrier is equipped with 2 mechanical sensors coming into contact with cams.
These limit switches and cams are accessible after removing the cover.
The limit switch closest to the gear unit is that of the opening. Then there is the safety
sensor (not shown in the images below) and then the closing sensor).
It is the adjustment of the cams which allows the horizontal and vertical adjustment of
the arm. To adjust it, you have to screw/unscrew the corresponding cam to make it
detected earlier or later in the movement of the arm. You have to use the allen wrench
attached on the redactor.
The sensors stop the motor and engage the brake of the motor.
The adjustments are made with the power connected:
there are risks of injury due to the absence of the cover. Take extreme care during
these operations.
The limit switch contact closest to the gearbox is that of the opening.
To adjust the limit switches it is necessary initially to adjust them on the square by bringing them as close as possible to the
cams.
The axis of the limit switches must go to the center of the cam.
Manual presetting by bringing the barrier in opening and closing.
The final adjustment will be made by maneuvering the barrier electrically.

•Information" screen (default screen):
This display is the default screen, it indicates useful information for the installer:
- Frequency of the motor (in Hz): this corresponds to the frequency of the current injected
into the motor. This frequency is positive in the opening direction and negative in the closing
direction.
- Number of cycles carried out: the number of cycles carried out by the barrier corresponds
to the number of openings
- Current status of the barrier: this message indicates the status of the barrier (see "§3.1.
Status messages of the barrier")
Note: This display will return automatically if no button is pressed for 60s
•“Advanced settings” screens (press "ESC" for 2s):
To access the advanced settings screens, keep the "ESC"pressed for 2s. You will then see thefirst screen for advanced settings,
simply click one of the two arrows to go to the second screen.
These displays indicate the advanced settings:
- Number of cycles of the barrier: this number of cycles corresponds to the number of
openings carried out by the barrier.
- Number of unhingings that the barrier was subjected to: this number indicates the
number of unhingings that the barrier has been subjected to.
- Programme of the barrier: this shows the programme number as well as its version. This
information is useful when troubleshooting.
- Direct voltage of the bus (in V): this voltage allows you to check that there is no fault on
the direct bus of the variator. This voltage must be about 300V ± 20V.
- Temperature of the IGBT module of the variator (in °C): this temperature makes it
possible to verify that there is no overheating on the IGBT module ofthe frequency variator.
This temperature must be less than
- IP address of the barrier: This is the IP address of the barrier for the Modbus
communication.
Note: The screen display automatically returns to the "Information" screen after 60s if no button is pressed.
•Status of the inputs/outputs" screen (hold "ENTER" for 2s):
To access the screen for viewing the status of the inputs/outputs, press and hold the « ENTER » button for 2s.
The screen shows the statuses of the 4 different input/output types (0: inactive; 1: active):
- Analogue/digital inputs (AI): AI1 to AI4
- Digital inputs (I): I1 to I8
- Transistor outputs (Q): Q1 to Q6
- Relay outputs (QR): QR1 to QR6
