1. Protection and maintenance.
To avoid jeopardizing correct operation, it is best not
to position the enclosures for long periods in exposed
places (damp, high temperature, etc.), in dusty
environments or those subject to strong vibrations.
On this subject, it’s advisable to always leave the
protective grid mounted on the enclosures. In the event
of breakdown, do not open the enclosure, but contact
the nearest GENERALMUSIC Service Centre.
2. Connections.
Always connect or disconnect the enclosures with the
power amplifier off: in this manner, annoying and often
dangerous peaks are avoided.
3. Connector cables.
When connecting the enclosures to the power amplifier,
make certain to always use only power cables made
up of just two wires with the same cross-section. Check
periodically that your cables are in good condition,
correctly wired and with perfectly efficient contacts:
in fact many problems and drawbacks (false contacts,
ground hum, crackles, etc.) are caused by the use of
unsuitable or damaged cables.
4. The HURRICANE series (fig. 1)
The HURRICANE series is range of passive
loudspeaker systems hosted in poplar chipboard
cabinets. The series includes 7 different models.
- H150: it is fitted with a 1” compression driver on EWT
horn and with a 10” woofer, with a power handling of
150W EIA on 8ohm.
- H200: it is fitted with a 1” compression driver on EWT
horn and with a 12” woofer, with a power handling of
200W EIA on 8ohm.
- H300: it is fitted with a 1” compression driver on EWT
horn and with a 15” woofer, with a power handling of
300W EIA on 4 or 8 ohm.
- H350: it is fitted with a 1.5” wide-dispersion
super.tweeter, an 8" midrange and a 15” woofer, with a
power handling of 350W EIA on 4 or 8 ohm.
- H500: it is fitted with a 1” compression driver with
titanium diaphragm on EWT horn and with two 15”
woofer, with a power handling of 500W EIA on 4 ohm.
- H350S: it is a sub-woofer system fitted with a 15”
woofer, with a power handling of 350W EIA on 4 ohm.
- H400S: it is a sub-woofer system fitted with a 18”
woofer, with a power handling of 400W EIA on 4 ohm.
All the models are equipped with carefully engineered
passive crossovers and with a sophisticated active
circuit for the protection of the drivers against power
overloading.
5. Installation and connections
1. Installation
All the HURRICANE series models are fitted with an
adapter for the installation on a standard loudspeaker
stand. The two sub-woofer systems have an adapter
on the top panel for the installation of a satellite using a
telescopic pole (LEM SC-31)
2. Connections
The HURRICANE loudspeaker systems are provided
with SPEAKON connectors for the connection to power
amplifiers or powered mixers (see fig. 2 and 3).
The models H300 and H350 in the 4ohm version and
the model T500 are fitted with a single SPEAKON
connector (INPUT).
The model H150 and H200 (available only with 8ohm
impedance) and the models H300 and H350 in the
8ohm version are fitted with an additional SPEAKON
connector (LINK) to be used to send the power to
a second unit connected to the same amplifier’s
channel.
Finally the two sub-woofer systems H350S and H400S
have, together with the input SPEAKON connector,
an output SPEAKON connector for the connection to
a satellite speaker. This output is fitted with a high-
pass crossover filter, so the satellite can be connected
directly to the sub-woofer without the need of an
external crossover unit.
