IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
INSTRUCTIONS PERTAINING TO A RISK OF FIRE, ELECTRIC SHOCK OR INJURY TO PERSONS
WARNING - When using electric products, basic precautions should always be followed, including
the following:
1. Read all the SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS before using the product.

instructions or as marked on the product.
8. This product may be equipped with a polarized line plug (one blade wider than the other). This is a
safety feature. If you are unable to insert the plug into the outlet, contact an electrician to replace
your obsolete outlet. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the plug.
9. The power-supply cord of the product should be unplugged from the outlet when left unused for a
long period of time. When unplugging the power-supply cord, do not pull on the cord, but grasp it by
the plug.
10. Care should be taken so that object do not fall and liquid are not spilled into the enclosure through
openings.
11. The product should be serviced by qualified service personnel when:
A. The power-supply cord or the plug has been damaged; or
B. Objects have fallen, or liquid has been spilled into the product; or
C. The product has been exposed to rain; or
D. The product does not appear to operate normally or exhibits a marked change in performance; or
E. The product has been dropped or the enclosure damaged.
12. Do not attempt to service the product beyond that described in the user-maintenance instructions.
All other servicing should be referred to qualified service personnel.
13. WARNING - Do not place objects on the product's power cord or place it in a position where
anyone could trip over, walk on or roll anything over it. Do not allow the product to rest on or to be
installed over power cords of any type. Improper installations of this type create the possibility of fire
hazard and/or personal injury.
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
The lightning flash with arrowhead symbol within an
equilateral triangle is intended to alert the user to the
presence of uninsulated "dangerous voltage" within the
product's enclosure, that may be of sufficient magnitude to
constitute a risk of electric shock to persons.
The exclamation point within an equilateral triangle is
intended to alert the user to the presence of important
operating and maintenance (servicing) instructions in the
literature accompanying the appliance.

1. Introduzione
Congratulazioni per l'acquisto del sistema di diffusione
HERCULES! Per un impiego corretto del sistema
seguite le istruzioni riportate in questo manuale. Buon
divertimento e buon lavoro.
2. Norme di Installazione e Uso
1. La protezione e la manutenzione.
Evitate di collocare i diffusori in vicinanza di forti fonti
di calore e di esporli direttamente alla luce solare, alla
pioggia, all’umidità, alla polvere o ad intense vibrazioni.
Lasciate l’apposita griglia di protezione sempre
applicata ai diffusori. In caso di avaria non aprite il
diffusore, ma rivolgetevi al più vicino Centro di
Assistenza GENERALMUSIC.
2. Prevenzione di possibili disturbi.
Collegando gli apparati del vostro impianto audio,
ponete molta attenzione ai cosiddetti “loop di massa”
che potrebbero causare ronzii: in caso di disturbi,
provate ad agire sullo switch SHIELD posto sul pannello
controlli del sub-woofer.
3. Collegamenti
Prima di collegare il sub-woofer alla presa di corrente,
accertatevi che la tensione di rete corrisponda a quella
indicata sul retro dell’apparato (è accettata una
tolleranza fino a ±10%). Collegate il cavo di
alimentazione al sub-woofer sempre prima di
accenderlo e rimuovete il cavo sempre dopo aver
spento il diffusore. Per evitare pericolosi picchi di
segnale effettuate i collegamenti con altri apparati e con
il satellite sempre a sub-woofer spento e accendete
sempre prima il mixer e poi il diffusore.
4. I cavi di collegamento
Per il collegamento del sub-woofer amplificato al mixer
accertatevi di utilizzare sempre e solo cavi di segnale
schermati costituiti da due fili più una calza che funge
da schermo. L’utilizzo di cavi non schermati potrebbe
determinare l’insorgere di fastidiosi ronzii e rumori di
fondo. Per il collegamento del satellite al sub-woofer
accertatevi di utilizzare SEMPRE e SOLO il cavo di
potenza con SPEAKON a 4 poli incluso nell’imballo
del satellite. L’utilizzo di un cavo di tipo diverso
potrebbe compromettere il corretto funzionamento
del sistema ed anche danneggiarne gli altoparlanti.
Verificate periodicamente che i cavi impiegati siano in
buono stato, con le connessioni realizzate nel modo
corretto e con tutti i contatti in perfetta efficienza, in
modo da evitare inconvenienti come falsi contatti,
rumori di massa, scariche, ecc.
3. Pannello connessioni HERCULES SUB (fig. 2)
1. Connettori XLR-F + JACK collegati in parallelo (LINK)
per l’ingresso del segnale proveniente dalle uscite
principali del mixer e l’eventuale rilancio verso un
secondo sistema.
2. Connettori XLR-F + JACK collegati in parallelo (LINK)
per l’ingresso del segnale proveniente dall’uscita
monitor del mixer e l’eventuale rilancio verso un
secondo sistema. Questo ingresso può essere
utilizzato in un sistema HERCULES doppio
quando l’amplificatore del secondo sub-woofer
viene impiegato per alimentare un HERCULES
SAT utilizzato come MONITOR DA PALCO (vedi
capitolo 4. Installazione, collegamenti e trasporto).
3. Selettore per l’attivazione dell’ingresso MONITOR
dell’amplificatore.
4. Uscita di potenza per HERCULES SAT con
connettore SPEAKON a 4 vie. Questa uscita può
essere utilizzata per il collegamento di
HERCULES SAT come sezione MID-HIGH del
sistema oppure come monitor da palco (dipende
dalla posizione del tasto SELECT).
ATTENZIONE: per il collegamento di
HERCULES SAT a HERCULES SUB utilizzate
SOLO il cavo di potenza con SPEAKON a 4 poli
incluso nell’imballo del satellite (vedi FIG. 5 -
CONNECTION CABLES).
5. Controllo di livello con due diverse modalità di
funzionamento.
- HERCULES SAT utilizzato come sezione MID-
HIGH del sistema (STANDARD SETUP):
controlla il segnale inviato a verso l’intero
SATELLITE e può essere utilizzato per bilanciare
il segnale tra la sezione medio-alta (satelliti) e la
sezione bassa (sub-woofer) del sistema. Riducete
il volume dei satelliti se desiderate un suono più
corposo alle basse frequenze oppure aumentatelo
se desiderate un suono più brillante.
- HERCULES SAT utilizzato come STAGE
MONITOR (DOUBLE SETUP): controlla il
segnale inviato alla sezione alta del MONITOR
è può essere utilizzato per rendere il suono più
chiaro o più scuro e per limitare i fenomeni di
feedback.
6. Controllo di separazione della massa elettrica
dalla massa del telaio.
7. Interruttore di accensione/spegnimento con LED
di segnalazione.
8. Presa per il cavo di alimentazione.

4. Installazione, collegamenti, trasporto
(fig. 1, 3, 4 & 5)
HERCULES è un sistema a tre vie tri-amplificato
costituito da un SATELLITE ed un SUBWOOFER che
integra altoparlanti, elettronica di controllo ed
amplificatori nello stesso prodotto. Il modulo di
amplificazione alloggiato all’interno del sub include TRE
diversi amplificatori di potenza, uno per ciascun
altoparlante del sistema (driver da 1”, mid speaker da
12” e woofer da 15”). Una rete di crossover attivi a 24dB
per ottava per la separazione delle frequenze, un
sistema di equalizzazione attiva e tre circuiti di limiter
indipendenti (uno per ciascun altoparlante) completano
la dotazione del modulo di amplificazione.
1. Installazione
La posizione migliore per i sub-woofer è la posizione a
terra, in quanto permette di incrementare la risposta alle
basse frequenze grazie alle riflessioni sul pavimento.
Non è necessario che i sub si trovino in una posizione
prestabilita, in quanto le frequenze basse, non avendo
direttività, vengono diffuse in modo uniforme sia che
essi si trovino in posizione centrale che ai lati del palco.
I satelliti devono essere collocati in posizione elevata in
modo da consentire una distribuzione uniforme del suono.
Dal momento che i sub possiedono un adattatore sul
pannello superiore, ciascun satellite può essere
installato direttamente sopra il relativo sub utilizzando
il supporto LEM SC-31.
2. Collegamenti
Tutti gli amplificatori del sistema HERCULES sono
contenuti nel modulo alloggiato all’interno del sub-
woofer, dal quale, tramite un cavo di potenza in
dotazione, la potenza necessaria viene trasferita agli
altoparlanti del satellite.
Utilizzate cavi di segnale BILANCIATI per collegare il
sub del sistema HERCULES al vostro mixer. Possono
essere utilizzati sia connettori JACK che connettori
XLR.
Per il collegamento del satellite al sub utilizzate
SOLO il cavo di potenza con SPEAKON a 4 poli
incluso nell’imballo del satellite (vedi FIG. 5 -
CONNECTION CABLES). Questo cavo consente di
collegare il driver da 1” ed il midrange da 12” ai due
amplificatori da 150W ciascuno dedicati
all’alimentazione del satellite.
La combinazione base del sistema HERCULES
(STANDARD SETUP) include DUE SATELLITI e DUE
SUB (vedi FIG. 3 - CONNECTIONS - STANDARD
SETUP). L’ingresso di ciascun sub-woofer viene
collegato all’uscita del mixer e l’uscita di potenza del
sub viene collegata al relativo satellite.
In questa configurazione il tasto SELECT deve essere
sollevato e la posizione consigliata per il controllo di
livello del satellite (VOLUME) è -6dB. Tale controllo può
essere comunque modificato a seconda delle esigenze
d’uso e dell’ambiente in cui il sistema viene utilizzato:
ruotatelo verso destra per aumentare il volume del
satellite oppure verso sinistra per diminuirlo.
Data la notevole efficienza del satellite HERCULES, per
applicazioni di maggiore portata è possibile utilizzare
anche una combinazione doppia (DOUBLE SETUP)
che include DUE SATELLITI e QUATTRO SUB (FIG.
4 - CONNECTIONS - DOUBLE SETUP). In questo
caso, gli amplificatori che restano inutilizzati nei due sub
aggiuntivi possono pilotare altri due satelliti da utilizzare
come monitors da palco. Per fare ciò è sufficiente
collegare l’ingresso MONITOR presente nel modulo di
amplificazione dei sub aggiuntivi all’uscita monitor del
mixer e collegare l’uscita di potenza di ciascun sub al
satellite utilizzato come monitor da palco.
In questa configurazione il tasto SELECT deve essere
premuto e la posizione consigliata per il controllo di
livello del satellite (VOLUME) è MAX. Anche in questo
caso, il volume del satellite può essere ridotto ruotando
il potenziometro verso sinistra nel caso risulti eccessivo
per il tipo di applicazione.
3. Trasporto
HERCULES SUB possiede quattro comode ruote
fissate al fondo ed un alloggiamento sul frontale per il
satellite. Una volta che il sub è stato posizionato sulle
ruote, è possibile collocare sopra di esso il satellite e
trasportare il sistema senza fatica e con la massima
facilità.

1. Introduction
Congratulations for having chosen the HERCULES
loudspeaker system!
To make the best use of the Hercules system, please
read this manual thoroughly before operating the
equipment.
2. Instructions for use and installation
1. Protection and maintenance.
To avoid jeopardizing correct operation, it is best not
to position the enclosures for long periods in exposed
places (damp, high temperature, etc.), in dusty
environments or those subject to strong vibrations. On
this subject, it’s advisable to always leave the protective
grille mounted on the enclosures. In the event of
breakdown, do not open the enclosure, but contact the
nearest GENERALMUSIC Service Centre.
2. Prevention of possible interference.
Avoid installing your equipment in the vicinity of radios,
televisions, etc., since this could cause noisy
disturbance. When connecting other equipment to your
sound system, pay close attention to so-called earth-
loops, which can cause hum: in the event of
interference, try using the SHIELD switch on the sub’s
control panel.
3. Connections.
Before connecting the sub-woofer to the mains supply,
make certain that the current corresponds with that
indicated on the rear of the unit (there is an allowance
of ±10%). Always connect the power cable to the sub-
woofer before switching it on and always remove it after
having switched off. Remember to always connect or
disconnect other equipment with the sub-woofer off and
to always switch on the mixer first, then the sub-woofer:
in this manner, annoying and often dangerous peaks
are avoided.
4. Connector cables.
When connecting the active sub-woofer the mixer,
make certain to always use only screened signal cables
made up of two wires plus a braid/screen: the use of
unscreened cables could in fact probably cause
annoying hum and noise. When connecting the
satellite to the sub-woofer, make certain to always
use only the SPEAKON 4-wire power cable included
in the Hercules Sat package. The use of a different
cable could result in the system’s fault and also in
the speaker’s damages (see fig. no. 5 -
CONNECTION CABLES).Check periodically that your
cables are in good condition, correctly wired and with
perfectly efficient contacts: in fact many problems and
drawbacks (false contacts, ground hum, crackles, etc.)
are caused by the use of unsuitable or damaged cables.
3. HERCULES SUB Connection panel (fig. 2)
1. XLR-F + JACK sockets in parallel to connect the
signal coming from the mixer’s main outputs and
the linking to other units.
2. XLR-F + JACK sockets in parallel to connect the
signal coming from the mixer’s monitor output and
the linking to other units. You can use this input in
a double HERCULES system when the internal
amplifier of the second sub-woofer is used to feed
a HERCULES SAT in a stage monitor
configuration (see chapter 4. Installation,
connections and transport).
3. Switch to enable the amplifier’s MONITOR input.
4. Power output for the HERCULES SAT with 4-wire
SPEAKON connector. This output can be use to
connect the HERCULES SAT as the system’s
MID-HIGH section or as stage MONITOR
(depending on the SELECT switch position).
IMPORTANT: when connecting the satellite to
the sub-woofer, make certain to always use
only the SPEAKON 4-wire power cable
included in the Hercules Sat package (see fig.
no. 5 - CONNECTION CABLES).
5. Signal level control. This control has two functions.
- HERCULES SAT used as the system’s MID-
HIGH section (STANDARD SETUP): controls
the overall signal sent to the SATELLITE and it
can be used to balance the system’s mid-high
(satellite) and low (sub-woofer) sections. Reduce
the satellite volume if you want to enhance the low
response of your system, increase the satellite
volume if you need a brighter sound and a better
definition at the mid-high frequencies.
- HERCULES SAT used as a STAGE MONITOR
(DOUBLE SETUP): controls the signal sent to
the MONITOR’s high section and it can be used
to obtain a brighter or darker sound or to reduce
the feedbacks.

of the chassis.

4. Installation, connections and
transport (fig. 1&3)
HERCULES is a three-way tri-amplified system made
of a SATELLITE and a SUB-WOOFER, which includes
in the same product loudspeakers, signal processors
and power amplifiers.
The amplification module, hosted inside the sub-woofer
cabinet, includes THREE different power amplifiers,
one for each of the system’s loudspeakers (1” driver,
12” midrange and 15” woofer). A 24dB per octave
crossover network for the frequency separation, an EQ
CIRCUIT for the system compensation and three
different ANTI-CLIPPING circuits for the loudspeaker
protection are also included.
1. Installation
The best position for the sub-woofers is on the floor,
because the low frequency response is enhanced by
the floor reflections. It’s not necessary to place the sub-
woofers in a given position, because the low
frequencies don’t have directivity and therefore they are
evenly diffused whether the subs stay in a central
position or on both sides of the stage. Since the
HERCULES SUBS are fitted with a speaker stand
adapter, each satellite can be installed directly on top
of the relative sub using the LEM SC-31 telescopic
stand.
2. Connections
All the HERCULES system’s amplifiers are housed into
the sub-woofer’s power module. From this module the
needed power is transferred thru a proper cable to the
satellite’s loudspeakers.
Make use of BALANCED signal cables for the
connection of the sub-woofer to the mixer. Both 1/4”
JACK and M-XLR connectors can be used.
For the connection of the satellite to the sub-
woofer, make certain to always use only the
SPEAKON 4-wire power cable included in the
Hercules Sat package (see fig. no. 5 - CONNECTION
CABLES).This cable allows to connect the 1” driver
and the 12” midrange speaker to the two 150 watts
power amplifiers dedicated to the satellite.
The STANDARD SETUP of the HERCULES system
includes TWO SATELLITES and TWO SUB-
WOOFERS (see fig. no. 3 - CONNECTIONS -
STANDARD SETUP). Each sub-woofer’s input is
connected to the mixer’s output and the sub-woofer’s
power output is connected to the relative satellite.
In this configuration the SELECT button must be UP
and the suggested setting for the satellite VOLUME
control is -6dB. However this setting can be modified
according to kind of application and to the environment
where the system is used: turn it clockwise if you want
to increase the satellite level or counterclockwise if you
want to reduce it.
Due to the satellite’s very high efficiency, for larger
applications also TWO SATELLITES and FOUR SUB-
WOOFERS can be used (DOUBLE SETUP, see fig. no.
4 - CONNECTIONS - STANDARD SETUP). In this
case, the two amplifiers left unused in the additional
sub-woofers, thanks to the dedicated MONITOR input
on the module panel, can feed two additional satellites
to be used as stage monitors. To do that, you only need
to act on the SELECT switch, to connect the MONITOR
inputs of the two additional sub-woofers to the mixer
monitor output and to connect the sub’s power output
to the HERCULES SAT used as stage monitors
In this configuration the SELECT button must be
DOWN and the suggested setting for the satellite
VOLUME control is MAX. Also in this case, if the
satellite volume is too high it can be reduced turning
the knob counterclockwise.
3. Transport
HERCULES SUB has four wheels on the bottom side
and a housing for the satellite on the front panel. Once
the sub is on the wheels, the satellite can be placed
on top of it and the system can be easily transported
also by one people.
