hydraulic hoses are connected in the prescribed manner!
•
When connecting the hydraulic hoses to the tractor's hydraulics, make
sure the hydraulics on both the tractor and the machine are
depressurised!
•
In the case of hydraulic function connections between the tractor and the
machine, coupling sleeves and plugs should be marked accordingly to
prevent incorrect operation! If the connections are swapped - reverse
function (e.g. lifting/lowering) - there is a risk of accident!
•
Check the hydraulic hoses regularly and replace them if they are
damaged or show signs of ageing! The replacement hoses must comply
with the technical requirements of the machine manufacturer!

2 WARNING STICKERS
2.1
General information
LEMKEN VarioPack 110 Plus features all the equipment that is necessary
to ensure safe operation. If hazardous areas could not be completely
secured with respect to operational safety of the machine, warning symbols
are affixed which indicate these residual risks.
2.2

10
3 PREPARATIONS AT THE TRACTOR
3.1
Tyres
The air pressure - especially in the rear tractor tyres - must be the same.
See the operating instructions of the tractor manufacturer!
3.2
Lifting rods
The lifting rods of the tractor's three-point linkage must be adjusted to the
same length using the adjusting device! Pendulum compensation of the
lower links must be unlocked.
3.3
Check chains / Stabilisers
The check chains and/or stabilisers must be adjusted so that they always
allow lateral movement of the lower links when working in the field. The
lower link balls must always be able to swivel freely in the catch hooks of
the lower links.
If the lateral movement is greater than the swivelling ability of the balls,
damage may occur to the pivots of the cross shafts. The balls can swivel
approx. +/- 10 ° in the catch hook. If the catch hooks are not straight, the
swivelling ability is reduced accordingly.
3.4
Lifting gear control
If VarioPack 110 Plus is used directly mounted to the tractor, the tractor's
hydraulics must be switched to "float position" for field work!
3.5
Control units
A double acting control unit is required on the tractor for the hydraulic
folding device.

11
3.6
Lower and top links
The category of the three-point linkage must be the same on the machine
and the tractor. If the category does not correspond, either the three-point
linkage of the tractor must be adjusted or the cross shaft and, if necessary,
the top link pin must be replaced with category-compliant versions.
The lower links must be arranged in such a way ensuring their extensions
cross approximately halfway between the front and back axles of the
tractor. If they cross too far to the front, a longer cross shaft must be fitted.
In the working position, the top link must be mounted ensuring it rises
slightly towards the machine.

Axle loads
The attachment of machines in the front and rear three-point
linkage must not lead to the permissible total weight, the
permissible axle loads and the tyre load-carrying capacity of
the tractor being exceeded. The front axle of the tractor must
always be loaded with at least 20% of the tractor's tare weight.

12
How the minimum front ballasting and the increase in the back axle load are
determined is described in detail below:
GV = weight of front ballast (front machine)
TV = front axle load of the tractor without mounted
machine TL = tare weight of the tractor
TH = back axle load of the tractor without mounted
machine GH = machine weight

The calculation of the required minimum front ballasting and the increase in
back axle load assumes that all dimensions and weights given above are
known. If you do not know these dimensions and weights and if it is not
possible for you to determine them, there is only one safe and accurate way
to avoid overloading:
Please weigh your tractor with a mounted and lifted machine in order
to determine the actual back axle load and the front axle load relief of
the tractor with a mounted and lifted machine in comparison with the
front and back axle loads of the tractor without a mounted machine!

The parked machine must be secured against rolling away!

14
5 FOLDING IN AND OUT
5.1
Folding in
The lateral sections (K0) of the
machine must be folded in prior
to transport. The lateral sections
may be folded in and out only
when the machine is mounted on
the tractor.
The hydraulic rams (K1) of the
folding device must be connected
to a separate double acting
control unit.
The machine is folded in as
follows:
-
Before folding in, lift the
machine fully and open the
shut-off valves (K2)!
-
By actuating the control unit
to the "fold-in position" = 1st
pressure position, the lateral
sections are folded in as far as
they will go.
-
Close the shut-off valves (K2).
-
Lock the control unit of the
tractor to prevent the lateral
sections from folding out
unintentionally!
-
In the folded-in position, the
width of the machine must be
less than
3 m. Necessary adjustment
corrections can be made using
the stop screw (T1). The stop screws must be secured with the lock nuts
(T2) after adjustment.

15
5.2
Folding out
The machine may only be parked when folded out.
-
Before folding out the lateral
sections (K0), the shut-off
valves (K2) must be opened
and the machine lifted fully.
-
Unlock the control unit of
the tractor and switch to the
2nd pressure position = fold-
out position.
In the folded-out position, the
lateral sections must be set the
same to the centre frame on the
left and right. Adjustment
corrections must be made
using the set screws (K7). The set screws must be secured with the lock
nuts (K8) after adjustment.
•
General safety information and safety information
Read and observe "Hydraulic system"!
•
Never fold the machine in and out under high-voltage power
lines!

16
6 SETTINGS
6.1
Pressure load on the roller
By turning the top link (A4) longer or shorter, the pressure load on the roller
(W0) can be increased or reduced.
Turn the top link longer = greater pressure load. Turn the
top link shorter = less pressure load.

17
6.2
Levelling type harrow
The working depth of the levelling
type harrow (S2) can be adjusted
with the aid of the pins (S1).
The pins (S3) are used to adjust
the angle of the levelling type
harrow to the ground. The pins
(S4) prevent the levelling type
harrow from swivelling back
when the machine is lifted.
For field work, the levelling type
harrow must be adjusted
ensuring it distributes the straw
well, but does not pull it together
or create a crumb structure that
prevents the soil from drying out.
The steeper the harrow tines
(S5), the better the crumbling of
the soil.
The flatter the harrow tines (S5), the lower the risk of clogging.

18
7 USE IN COMBINATION WITH A LEMKEN SOIL
CULTIVATION MACHINE
When the VarioPack 110 Plus is mounted on a semi-mounted soil
cultivation machine, the hydraulic three-point linkage of the soil cultivation
machine must be switched to float position.
To further increase reconsolidation of the soil, the weight of the trailer can
be transferred to VarioPack. This is achieved via the hydraulic ram of the
respective hydraulic double acting three-point linkage of the soil cultivation
machine.
However, the hydraulic system of the trailer must then be switched to float
position. If this is not possible, the hydraulic system of the trailer must be
converted accordingly.
NOTICE! Before lifting the furrow press, the soil cultivation machine must
always be lifted via the trailer hydraulics.
•
Read and observe the general safety information and safety
information for 'Mounted machines'!
•
The maximum permissible axle load of the soil cultivation
machine must not be exceeded.
•
The soil cultivation machine must be equipped with a brake system.
