Product description
Heel Up®is made of a non-woven
material, which makes the device
soft, skin-friendly, heat and moisture
absorbent, providing comfortable,
optimal pressure relief.
Indications
The Heel Up
®
is for bedbound
patients with existing pressure ulcers,
and those with a history of, or at risk
of developing pressure ulcers.
They are also indicated for patients
with 2 or more of the following
clinical Indications:
• Braden Scale score of 14 or less
• Diabetes with neurological
sensory decit
• No palpable pedal pulses
• Aged 65 plus
• Acute hip fracture
• Signicant nutritional decits
(serum albumin <2.2g/dl)
• Prolonged immobility (>2 hours)
or coma
• Paraplegia (any age)
NB: Indications are intended as
guidance only - always exercise
clinical judgement when using any
off- loading device.
Risks / Contraindications
Heel Up®can be used on patients
in beds with adjustable reclining
surfaces.
When using the Heel Up®in beds
with side guards, the use of Lateral
grid pads are recommended to
avoid pinching the foot in the side
guard.
Be sure to follow guidelines to avoid
shear.
Application for Use
For the foot (heels, ankles)
Heel Up®is designed for
‘single-patient’ use for up
to 8 weeks
Single-patient use eliminates the
risk of a possible bacterial spread
between patients.
Disposal
Heel Up®disposed of with
general waste.
STEP 6: Check the Heel Up®regularly in accordance with local guidelines
for pressure prevention, ensuring the foot remains in the correct position.
STEP 4: Gently place Heel Up®on the patients’ foot.
Secure the strap and coloured ribbon as shown in Fig 6 below.
STEP 2: Ensure the pump is inserted into the valve until it is tight. Inate with
air - the device must NOT be inated with oxygen or any other type of gas.
STEP 5: Check that the heel is raised about 2 nger widths from the ground.
STEP 3: Inate the Heel Up®until the paper strap breaks.
Remove the pump and close the blue valve. Heel Up®is now ready to use.
STEP 1: Unfold Heel Up®leaving the paper strap intact and insert the pump
into the self-closing blue valve.

Heel Up®has some important features that
provide a number of advantages
The outer surface provides superior
drainage of moisture and heat from
the skin, it also ensures the skin
doesn’t adhere to the cushion.
It can be wiped with a damp cloth
or alcohol.
Open to the heel.
There is also space for the
malleoli to ensure full relief.
There is room for the Achilles
tendon between the 2 bearing cells.
The cells are bevelled to reduce
pressure on lower limbs.
The sail and air under the foot
supports the front foot and
minimises the risk of foot drop.
